You guys essentially voted me into this role. I wanted it. I thought I would be a good fit for the role. I've always been a mediator in life. Essentially, becoming a moderator has affected my enjoyment of this site. If you've paid attention, you'll know that I don't post here nearly as often as I used too. In fact, I've noticed that's the case with all of the current moderators, and former moderators as well.

That said, I still am here daily. I read your posts, and do my best to clean up the spam, and handle the behind the scenes issues that go on with the site every day. I don't want to step down, but the fact is, I'm aware that some folks are unhappy with the way that I've handled certain situations. I'll admit it, there have been times that my emotions have affected my decisions. That's not a good thing. I've done some long and hard thinking, and decided that I cannot make snap decisions when someone pisses me off. I'm not sure there's a moderator in the history of this site that hasn't done that at one time or another though. Ultimately, I believe that I'm still a good fit for this job, and I know Kyle is satisfied with my performance to this point.

That said, I've always believed this site is all about it's user base. No, it's not a democracy. It's a free board paid for by Kyle. But it doesn't exist without you guys coming here and posting. You are the life blood of Chiefsplanet, and you are the ones that have made it the very best message board for not only the Kansas City Chiefs, but in my opinion, the entire internet.

When I came here 9 years ago this month, I had zero experience with online communities. Chiefsplanet was the first board I'd ever joined. Since then, I still have never joined another online community. Growing up in Seattle, it was amazing for me to be able to connect with a group of people that were as passionate as I was about the Chiefs. I love this place. No, it's not what it was too me, but I don't see myself ever just walking away from the board. I may not post as much, but I always read it. You guys are ****ing hilarious. I throw a bone in there once in a while myself.

Enough rambling. I'm putting my head on the chopping block. I haven't brought this up to the other mods, or Kyle. This is my decision to make, and mine alone. If you're satisfied with my work, then vote yes. Keep me on as a mod. If not, vote no. I'm a big boy. I can take it if you don't like my style. It will be a public vote for obvious reasons. No harm, no foul regardless of your take. We can still be friends, even if you don't like me as a moderator. I won't take it personal. This poll will be open all weekend, and close early Monday morning.

Well throw me a vote homeboy. I look at it this way. If people vote for me to continue, those that cry can cry to themselves. I think this place should have some kind of say in how the place is ran. I thought this was a good way to do it. I can live with it either way. Love ya though, OTW. You're one of my actual friends I've made on this site. I know the feeling. I had 3 iPhones in a row that went to hell and got a Galaxy 4 a few weeks ago. I'm still trying to figure that damn thing out. The day after I bought it, I flew down to Belize. New phone, international calling, rum punch, yeah it exciting.

Way more. I've considered stepping down for that reason. The fact though, is I do enjoy moderating the site and believe I'm a valuable member of that team. I believe I'm needed. Of course this site would go on without me, but I think it runs better with me in that role. And I'm willing to sacrifice some shenanigans to make sure it's the best Chiefs board on the web.

They elected me once. Let them re elect me, or find a replacement. This base deserves that in my opinion, so I'm giving it to them.

I can't stress enough that I'm not upset, butthurt, or anything of the sort. I want this user base to make a decision on whether or not they're happy with my service 2-3 years after electing me.

Using "step down" instead of step away should balance the effect nicely :)

It's a good feeling to be a part of something that means so much to so many. I guess my only advice would be maternal. If you are going to be the calm nurturing moderator as opposed to the drunk moderator or the stealth moderator or the nosy moderator... you'll save yourself a lot of grief if you let kids be kids.

Frazod. Most others left over other reasons. I've talked with most of them. I think PR_Capone left with me in mind as well, and I have my thoughts on why, but I don't know for sure and won't say so here. You'll have to ask him.

I think making it a public poll was a bad idea though. Something like this should be a private poll.

You're surprised at the results? Making it private opens up a big can of worms regarding mults and everything else. People should be willing to sack up and say their peace. If there's enough complaints about it being public, we'll look into other options. That said, the only complaints so far have come from members of the hub, so pardon me for not being too concerned about it. I mean you no disrespect with that statement, but that's how I feel about it.

I voted no because I think you were more fun before you were a mod. But I don't really think a poll should be why you decide to step down.

A poll is why I was a mod in the first place. I just thought it would make sense to give people a voice on whether or not I've lived up to their expectations.

Here's a prime example. Jimmy Crack Corn is KnowMo, who I banned. He voted me out. I'll count his vote, and won't ban him again. Now if he gets banned, that will be another mod, and I can't control what they do, but I give my word it won't be me.

I don't pay any attention to who is or isn't a moderator..I just skim through the interesting threads and try and pick out those comments that have some substance. That being said....having been a moderator for years at a large golf forum....I suggest you take a 6 month leave of absence. That's what I did and discovered I enjoyed the site more just participating. It would do you good to take off the moderator hat for awhile and participate as just a regular poster. You might find out you enjoy participating more than moderating.....and by your own admittance your participation is sacrificed when you have your moderator hat on.

Thanks for posting. I think I'm going to go back to being me regardless of the outcome. **** it. If leadership wants to kick me out for being a ****bag, then that's fine. I'm pretty sure my change in style has been more self imposed than anything else. Time to pull my panties out of my butt crack and let loose again regardless of the outcome of this thread. I wasn't concerned. Just throwing my opinion out there. I've got no problem with you, personally. I haven't been here very long, but you've always been nice to me.

Just a suggestion.. Have an alternative mod available and take a month off or two. Give yourselves a break or have limit terms every couple years. I'm suggesting that for all the mods.

I do take time off, it's just usually a few days at a time. There are days I come here and tell myself that I'm not gonna worry about shit, and just have a good time. We have a fairly large mod team and I don't need to wear that hat 24/7. Obviously if something important is in my face that's one thing, but for the most part it never happens. It's really a good idea, and I hope the other mods read your post and consider it. Hope you and your girl are doing well, homeboy.

I think we all do that. A guy can't be here every day for several hours doing this or it will bite you in the ass. At this point I try stay out of stuff unless there is a firestorm, or a complete douche bag troll shows up and starts taking a dump on the board.

Stepping down as a MOD doesn't change you. I mean DaFace is still a raging douchebag. :) I just wish you, OTW and Mr. Big Words(Hamas) would participate in the CP Mock again.

The mods around here seem pretty much invisible unless someone goes full reerun. That's a good thing.

I say do whatever you want man. I voted for you to stay, but really just do what you want. I never wanted to be a moderator of any internet forum, because it always seemed to be that it would be like teaching a poorly behaved class of 6 year olds. I think I would hate it. :D

If I wanted to step down, I would. I've thought about it. I like the job though. This also isn't some "please look at me and validate me" deal either. Sorry if that's the appearance. It's an opportunity for this user base to vote on whether or not they picked the right guy for the job a couple of years ago. That's it, and that's all.

I don't have any issues with the way you moderate. If anything I like it. That said, you are a bit of a drama queen about it all. You seem to take more personally than what I would consider ideal for a forum that's as loose as this one.

My advice is to step away for yourself. Polling for affirmation is attention whoring. If the board as an entity didn't want you as a mod, the poll wouldn't have needed to be started by you.

Whether you are a mod or not will not likely affect the dozen posts I will be submitting in the coming year.

You toil over decisions a lot more than most other mods. You're trying to do the right thing every time. You care. That means you're more qualified than most everybody else. When people like Frazod lose their minds and throw everything away because of some stupid disagreement in D.C., maybe it was time for him to leave. It would have been very, very easy for him to have handled things like a grown ass man but he chose not to. It wasn't your choice. It was his choice. You can't beat yourself up over the path a grown man chose.
