Bring on the Comp picks

http://www.philly.com/philly/blogs/r...ojections.html

1. Lost players that are cut or not tendered as RFAs and ERFAs do not qualify.

2. Lost players that were picked up during the season the year before do not qualify.

3. Signed players that are released before midseason do not qualify.

4. Players earning low minimum salaries do not qualify.

5. Each player signed cancels out one player lost.

6. The round of the pick awarded is primarily determined by the annual value of the contract signed. Signed players cancel out lost players with equal contracts, then lower contracts, before canceling out higher contracts.

7. You get 4 compensatory picks max.

What do you think the chiefs get?

ShowtimeSBMVP 03-11-2014 03:19 PM

In 2015

planetdoc 03-11-2014 03:19 PM

6th and 7th round picks lol. Then we'll take a QB like Stanzi and cross our fingers like we do Bray hoping he'll be a steal like Tom Brady.

The Franchise 03-11-2014 03:20 PM

3rd, 2 5ths and a 6th.

Did KC sign Schwartz "during the previous season"? How are they defining that?

they didnt sign him "during the season". they signed him before the season began. Thus I think the chiefs can still get a pick for Schwartz.

Also think the chiefs got a pick for Orton who they picked up on waivers in the middle of the season (though since he was on waivers he wasnt a unrestricted free agent)

What comp picks have been awarded for the '14 draft around the league?

We could compare and make projections for what we could get.

I just don't want to do the work.

sucks now, but this is part of how you play the game

rebuild and reenergize with value priced 1 year players. let them go along with some expired contracts and grow from within, with a few extra picks sprinkled down the road in future year.

it's the slow play, and long term it works. if you make the right choices...

alex smith, eric fisher, allen bailey, aj jenkins, rishaw Johnson? sanders commings?

Titty Meat 03-11-2014 03:52 PM

This place has an irrational love for comp picks and players drafted in late rounds

Hoover 03-11-2014 03:57 PM

I'll take comp picks over handing out those huge contracts any day.

You'll continue getting swept by Denver too.

Comp picks get me rock hard, for some reason.

JIMP

BossChief 03-11-2014 04:48 PM

Depending on who we sign, it looks like we should get a 3rd and 4th and a couple late rounders.

IMO, we should be trying to use our original picks in those rounds to get additional picks in this draft.

OldSchool 03-11-2014 04:52 PM

Comp picks suck ass. The draft next year is going to be balls compared to what's in it this year.

Seems to be the only time we draft skill players/non trench players.

I'll take a late round comp pick over Tyson Jackson. LMAO

Direckshun 03-11-2014 06:15 PM

I am not doing the math, but I bet we end up with a 3rd, 4th, a couple 5ths, a 6th, and a 7th.

Along with picking 10-13 every round. Nice.

No shit.

It will be the draft that define the Dorsey/Reid era.

Direckshun 03-11-2014 06:51 PM

I'm counting 13 picks total for 2015.

A 1st, a 2nd, two 3rds, two 4ths, three 5ths, two 6ths, and two 7ths.

So ****ing epic.

In a draft that's likely going to suck, especially compared to this one.

If you're good at your job, there is no such thing as good drafts and bad drafts.

You hit your picks. Period.

Or do you mean hitting them with tree branches? I suppose that could work for some.

Direckshun 03-11-2014 07:06 PM

Just so I'm showing my work, here:

3rd: Albert
4th: Jackson
5th: Asamoah
5th: McCluster
6th: Schwartz
7th: Lewis

If you bat .500 you are doing better than average.

Depends on the team's philosophy, I guess.

Dayze 03-11-2014 07:06 PM

our 1st rounder we're getting for Albert is going to be sweet in '15

Bingo.

So lets give Thompson's very own disciple 13 pitches.

Mugsy 03-11-2014 07:08 PM

Who would have thought 5 former Chiefs would be signed by other teams in the first hour of free agency? It's really mind blowing to me.

nice work. Think Schwartz is going to get a contract as good (if not better) than Asamoah. Think the Zombo and Abdullah signings will negate McCluster/Lewis.
