Hunger Games 3: Mockingjay

First teaser released today.

The wife and I enjoyed the first couple movies. I think they're splitting the third book into two movies, though, a la the last Harry Potter flick.

Frosty 06-25-2014 10:41 AM

I liked the first two movies and enjoyed the books. However, I'm not sure how the third book can make two good movies unless they add a lot. A good chunk of the third book is Katniss moping around. There is action here and there (particularly the end) but not like the first two books.

I never read the books, but I did confirm it's Part 1.

1st was not bad-the second was very dumb. Pass on the next few.

Yeah, I knew they were making two movies but just wasn't sure why (other than $$$$).

Fish 06-25-2014 11:25 AM

Yeah, first one was OK. Second one was a drag. This will probably be a turd..

patteeu 06-25-2014 03:57 PM

I didn't really care for the books and of the three, the last was definitely my least favorite.

I thought the movies were alright and I actually liked the 2nd one better than the first. I'm pessimistic about the last couple of movies although I'll probably see them eventually.

Second one (the movie at least) didn't have much action either.

This "trilogy in 4 movies" trend is horseshit.

Mockingjay part 2 today!

Is anyone actually excited about this?

It feels more perfunctory rather than necessary

We may go see it this weekend, but I don't know that either of us is particularly excited about it. Not "not excited," though.

Lzen 11-20-2015 09:03 AM

I am excited about it. Going to see it tonight.

Why Not? 11-20-2015 09:25 AM

Wife and I going tomorrow. Kinda meh about it at this point. I was pretty into the first three, but four feels like overkill. I'm sure I'll get into it once I'm there.

BigRichard 11-20-2015 10:00 AM

I am in it for the long haul. Wife and I will be watching. I think this one will be better than the first part of the movie covering the third book. As Cosmo stated the entire stretching the third book into two movies is a bullshit move.

Agreed. I enjoyed it thoroughly. Jennifer Lawrence put on a very good performance.

Wait, am I back in the old Fappening thread?

loochy 11-25-2015 10:18 AM

We saw it last Saturday. I enjoyed it, but I'm easy to please.

On a side note, I'm disappointed in the lack of a Hunger Games "universe". I want extensive information on past presidents and life before the initial war, etc. I guess I'm spoiled by Tolkien.

BucEyedPea 11-27-2015 12:07 AM

Saw it last night. It was boring. Still glad I saw it though.

I had previously read all three books three years ago and forgot parts of this, but parts of the third book as I recall, dragged on too long.

I think it would have been better if they did one movie for the third book and just made it longer like three hours.

BTW, Lionsgate also own The Divergent Series and they're breaking the third book on that into two movies as well. Just drags it all out, imo.

Shaid 11-28-2015 11:02 AM

I thought the 3rd book was easily the worst book so them extending it to 2 movies seemed like a bad idea. A good business idea, but a bad idea.

It's getting bad reviews from public and critics —as one big snore job. Too many discussions taking place and camera on a person for way too long with little action. If they cut a lot of those discussions out it could have easily been a much better third and last film.
