Earlier today, I heard that Hulk Hogan was dead, but it was a hoax. Could he one of those hoax-happy days.

Yeah, he died today in what looks to be a suicide. What a tremendous career he had, depression sucks.

There's literally two real sources in this thread alone.

I had a job at a video rental store when I was 16. There was only one question on the application. "How many movies with Robin Williams can you name?"

There was this movie I watched starring him a few months ago where his son in the movie committed suicide... I think it was called "The World's Greatest Dad." Anyways, kind of ironic now.

The Marin County Sheriff's Office is investigating the death of actor/comedian Robin Williams in Tiburon, Calif., north of San Francisco.

According to a press release issued by the sheriff's office, Williams was found unconscious and not breathing inside his home in Tiburon around noon local time, and was pronounced dead shortly after.

The press release identified him as as Robin McLaurin Williams, 63.

The coronor suspects the death was "a suicide due to asphyxia, but a comprehensive investigation must be completed before a final determination is made. A forensic examination is currently scheduled for Tuesday, the press release said.

Williams rep confirmed the death to E News.

"Robin Williams passed away this morning," his rep confirmed to E! News. "He has been battling severe depression of late. This is a tragic and sudden loss. The family respectfully asks for their privacy as they grieve during this very difficult time."

He lived near me...I have seen him in the 'wild' a couple times.....

The weird thing is that I was just reading a couple days ago about his estate/ranch in Napa (apparently not his full time home) was up for sale for a mere 30 Million bucks....

I was wondering why he might be selling...not that it is necessarily connected but anyway...

Beloved actor Robin Williams was found dead on Monday, police reported.

He was 63.

The apparent cause of death was suicide, authorities said. According to his publicist, Williams had been battling severe depression.

Williams was best known for his starring roles in classic comedies like Mrs. Doubtfire and Jumanji. He won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his portrayal of Dr. Sean Maguire in Good Will Hunting. He rose to fame while playing Mork the alien in the TV show Mork & Mindy, a Happy Days spinoff.

Most recently, Williams had starred in the new CBS sitcom 'The Crazy Ones.' It was cancelled after just one season.

Susan Schneider, the actor's wife, released the following statement to the New York Times' Dave Itzkoff:

"This morning, I lost my husband and my best friend, while the world lost one if its most beloved artists and beautiful human beings. I am utterly heartbroken. On behalf of Robin's family, we are asking for privacy during our time of profound grief. As he is remembered, it is our hope that the focus will not be on Robin's death but on the countless moments of joy and laughter he gave to millions."

It is kind of weird how someone so funny could be so sad.

Well, that stinks.

He was such a phenom in my teenage years. He was the biggest comic presence in America for a while, and deservedly so. He mellowed a lot with age, but he burst onto the national stage like few ever have.

I've heard Jim Carey takes a two week vacation to isolate himself & not be found just to cry.

Yeah, he suffers from depression too. It's a strange combination that more than a few comedians have.

Mork and Egon's death are probably the first two celebrity deaths to hit me kinda hard. I grew up watching both.

He used to be funny but his schtick got old.

I guess all that humor could be compensating for a whole lot of hurt.

Honestly, He did appear a little bipolar considering his personality and how he presented himself when he was in the limelight doing standup and in interviews.

I guess maybe it is. I had never thought about it before. And I'm not one to follow celebrities' lives so this is a revelation to me.

I know what you mean...seems like all the actors or comedians I grew up with are disappearing.

I listen to the Nerdist podcast quite a bit, and Chris frequently talks about how other comedians get started. The idea of comedy as a coping mechanism comes up pretty frequently.

I miss John Candy. Who's Harry Crumb? was one of his best movies that wasn't mainstream.

The thing about depression is whenever you feel bad pick up a ****ing phone or call someone to come over and talk! :( this sucks bad. RIP Robin!

What sucks is almost all of my fav childhood comedians have passed away now and the ones that are alive are older and not funny anymore like Eddie Murphy/Adam Sandler.

Damn, watching Aladdin now is going to be a bit upsetting.. and Hook, just wow. What a legend, I wish he could of just waited and let nature take care of it but RIP.

What's also damn depressing is that he was good friends with Christopher Reeve, and that guy basically lived like a vegetable for years just to cling to life, and Robin takes his own. So sad.
