We are the 2nd-biggest road favorite today in Vegas. The Mariners are slightly-more favored over the Phillies.
|
Big fan of the Rays today as well....
|
bruiser is slipping
|
Quote:
Sherzer wins a low-scoring game against Cobb...Porcello loses as Odorizzi helps his former team's cause...Price pitches well, but leaves early due to pitch count and his bullpen does what they do while Archer holds the Tigers at bay. Rays take 2 of 3. |

bruiser slept in today.

BRUISER HAD A BUSY MORNING GET OFF HIS ASS
|

Just keep your heads down and keep winning, boys. Nothing but good happens when you're in first place and win.
Something about playing in Colorado scares me a bit, but the absence of Tulowitzki and CarGo along with the pitching matchup works for me. |
Let's do this.
|
Let's rock!
|
big game

LMAO |
I do want to make a comment that Infante should not be in the top half of the lineup for a while. Since All Star break he is hitting .190 with an OPS of .493. He needs to be moved back to 7th or 8th.
|
Go Rays! Go Phillies!
|
In for the win!

I really hope Colon gets a start today, preferably for Infante at 2B but I'll accept a start at 3B too.
I'd go: Aoki RF Colon 2B Gordon LF Butler 1B Willingham DH Cain CF Kratz C Moose 3B Escobar SS |

I'd rather have him flop head first and be safe than be lazy and get tagged on the leg standing up at 3rd like he did in the Indians game. EDIT: upon more review, doesn't look like Prince was safe |

In for win #70!
Kratz hits three HR's tonight. For sure. |

Shields is going yard tonight
|
@McCulloughStar: Foot Of The Mountain Lineup: Aoki 9, Infante 4, Perez 2, Butler 3, Gordon 7, Cain 8, Moustakas 5, Escobar 6, Shields 1. #royals

Once again Colon gets blocked by Infante and Moose against a lefty.

But with that said, Moose can't hit lefties...and having him as a potential PH against a righty would be nice. Colon just impresses me with his AB's...he seems to be one of the few guys who can work the count and put the ball in play. |

EDIT: Sorry, I didn't see that California Chief had already bitched about thiso:-) |

The only thing about the Rockies is that they are at .500 at home this year. Definitely tougher to win there. But we should be able to do it.
On a positive note, just looking at the bench for tonight I give credit to GMDM for strengthening the roster significantly since the beginning of the year. Compare: Hayes Valencia Dyson Some other guy to Willingham Ibanez Colon Dyson Kratz |
Following the Tigers/Rays game. Scherzer vs. Archer.
3 run bomb for Loney in the 1st! Hello Tigers bullpen. Fill up those gas cans! |
James Loney you beautiful, beautiful man....
|
Through 1 inning:
Tigers 0 Rays 3 Scherzer threw 25 pitches in the 1st. :D |

Who could have believed this team would be in first place in the middle of August without Moose or Hosmer performing anywhere close to what was expected? Only possible because of great pitching and it's why pitching arms are always valued over good offensive teams.
|
Alright Archer, lock it down. Giving the Tigers a loss on a Scherzer start would be epic, especially if we take care of business tonight.
|
1,2,3 inning for Archer.
He's struck out 4 of the 6 he's faced, and has a 3 run lead. Let's do this Rays! |
Rays threatening again...
|
Quote:
|
4-0!
|
Now 4-0 Rays.
|
4-0 Rays.
|
Scherzer up to 47 pitches through just 2 innings.
Paging Joba the Hut, Jim Johnson, and Joe Nathan... |

Detroit losing in a Scherzer start would be just dandy
|
Happy birthday, Ned!
Have a good one! :thumb: |

Come on Twins, be nice if you can unload your frustrations out of the Indians tonight.
|

The good news about these next two series is that it seems both teams have all but checked out. As long as we don't play down to them no reason why we can't take four out of five at least.
|
Not that we're worried about them, but it would be a bonus if they took a loss to the Twins because they could get hot and pull closer.
|
Tigers waste a leadoff double and come up empty with the heart of their order.
4-0 Rays headed to the bottom of the 4th. |
Quote:
|
Colorado's pitching staff must be atrocious, they've always been a team who could hit, but their record is awful
|
LMAO at the Tigers. Vince Belnome is now 2-2 with a ground rule double and a solo home run.
5-0 Rays. |
Scherzer gives up another HR. 5-0.
|
Another upside to the Royals success this season is that I'll bet I've ordered 1/2 price Papa Johns at least 20 times in the past 5 months!
|
Quote:
Still 4-0. |
Wow.
Shields has not allowed a hit to a right handed batter in month of August (0-23). |
