Question.
I haven't seen the game yet, but I've read everything you guys have said about it.
With one exception: Brandon Albert. How'd he look? Did they throw Tamba Hali at him all game? I heard Hali beat him for a sack, and that Albert was whistled for a holding call early in the game? Compare his performance to, I don't know, let's say Eric Fisher. Thanks in advance. |
We miss Albert.
Sure would have been nice to give him some of Alex and Bowes money and keep our homegrown talent we moved up in the draft to get. |
Albert was pretty solid. He wasn't a stone wall or anything. Tamba beat him a few times, including for a sack, but for the most part he did his job and did it well. He was excellent in run blocking, and above average to OK in pass blocking.

While I've got you on the line, how would you review Fisher's performance? |
The sack was more of a coverage sack IMO.
He was the same Albert we've always known. |

Albert going into this game was the number 1 rated tackle in the league. But Tamba punked him a few times today. I think this was personal for Tamba. |

When Hali got his sack Albert had him stood up until his guard was blown up right into the side of Hali.

Fisher looked better than Albert in this game

I'm starting to get excited about Kelce (if I may Direckshun) - Let me say - this guy very well may wind up being a great player.

I have been high on Kelce since we drafted him. This dude is a ****ing beast. Speed, size, intensity.
This dudes gotta be roidin~ |

But really, I've also joined the Kelce hype train. Really loving watching him play. |

Fisher played pretty solidly. He was adequate in both pass pro and run blocking. Easily our second best OL player after Hudson right now, though that's not saying much given how bad the other players are.

Vernon had a sack and a QB hit while Jenkins had 1.5 sacks and 2 hits. |

This is true. Hali got bumped and it gave him a clear lane to Tannehill. Not really Albert's "fault", in my opinion. |
Dee Ford is coming too. This guy will be a huge impact player toward the end of the season I'd imagine, perhaps not until next yr. But he will definitely develop into a strong player.
|
Albert is still a more accomplished player, but Fisher is younger and cheaper.

Oh - also I was pleased it wasn't a nail biter.
|
very enjoyable game, overall - I really liked watching it (for once) - ha ha - Yeah - but you DID DVR it or didn't? Let me re-check OP.
|
I always DVR the games. Just wasn't able to catch it at the time, and won't be able to really have a solid 2-3 hour block to enjoy the game until Tuesday.
|
I re-checked OP to see if you've DVR'd this game - no indication one way nor the other.
Please answer once you get a moment. Were you able to DVR the Dolphins @ Chiefs game? |

I forget the exact % that elite LT prevent sacks/pressures hits
I think its around 96% if memory serves which would be allowing these about 1 time in every 25 snaps, unless my math is off... I am pretty sure he played around this level... I was a little unfocused in watching the game.....I saw hali beat him and get a sack once for sure...but he also held the ball too long on that play I believe....so I dunno if that would be considered a 'wash' TL;DR He looked decent , to me |
Get drunk on NAMELY Root beer Schnapps (any make) on Clay's behalf - and do you own personal 'game thread' - And post in it really drunk.

Fisher made a really great pulling block (among some other decent plays)_, but it seemed we still couldnt do much in the way of drop backs more than 5 steps without pressure
Pass blocking is the weak area , for sure..which is what albert was so good at |

I didnt see the penalty, I need to watch the game again probably before commenting
|
Just a thought - I'd imagine it'd be a fun time.

I'm not 100% comfortable doing that. I'll be watching the game in the AM. |

That's good. I'm not either - If you're not comfortable; than I'm not either. Simple as that. Also - good of you for not drinking during the day on a Tuesday. Enjoy it though - it's a dandy in my book. |
Kelce is like that guy they called bigfoot - only Kelce is actually good.
|
Besides, my attention span is disasterous when I'm drunk.
It would start as a pleasant commentary on the game, and then in an outlandish, overwrought political conversation, largely with me telling everybody I love them. You'd love it, SR. I'm pretty sure luv has seen me drunk. I can't recall if DMAC has. |
Others too not only Direckshun,
But I'm here to field any other questions. I'm guest speaker (assuming Direckshun approves of this) Does anyone else have any NFL related questions? |

I have an NFL question for Simply Red:
why would anyone pay $10 for a beer at an NFL game? can they not wait the 3 hours to go get one for a much cheaper price elsewhere? it is only beer and you can surely enjoy the game without it. |

Most sacks in the NFL are coverage sacks.
You guys gotta stop tripping on your dicks to blow Albert. |

I thought Hali abused Albert all day.
|
Quote:
You said exactly what I wanted to say. I am not sorry to see Albert go. I see Fish as a bit like John Alt. Slow out of the gate but learns every week and will develop into a solid LT. |
And lets not forget Tamba beating Albert inside and getting the ball carrier behind the line for a 2 yard loss on 3rd and short. Those are just as good as a sack.
|
The better question would be.
Did Branden Albert look like he was worth 5 years, 47 million, with 25 million guaranteed? No doubt that Albert is a good LT in the league, but I think the Chiefs were wise in what they did. Once the Chiefs were forced to franchise him them, they this was always going to be the outcome. I salsa believe that if Fisher wasn't the 1st player drafted overall, Chiefs fans would be so critical of this situation. |
His name is not Brandon. I expect more out of you Direksuhun.
|
On a couple of the sacks against us, Fasano was lined up on the RIGHT side of the line. He had his head turned in to watch for the snap. By the time he turned his head back to pick up the DE who was rushing on his side, he was already past him, and Smith had no chance.
Not sure why Fasano has to turn his head inside to know when the play is under way. You would think he could watch the DE and then move. Even if the DE jumps early and Fasano would react to it, the penalty should be on the defense. |
That's not how I saw it.
When Fasano lined up on the right side it seemed like our RT thought 'oh good, he can block Wake.' Cameron Wake against Fasano one on one is a disaster waiting to happen. WTF happened to our RT in those situations is beyond me. |

Hali seemed to get the best of Albert IMO- 1 sack and a holding call. Hali had a very solid game and registered his 75 sack as a Chief.
One sack closer to the Ring of Honor. |

Regarding the former Chiefs watch, interesting to note that Succop was 0 for 2, and McCluster had 4 touches for 16 yards...
