**** OFFICIAL Chiefs vs Patriots MNF Thread ****

Here's a chance for these idiots to finally earn some respect.

Beat a good team with a good QB and I'll shut up for awhile, you know?

Go Chiefs?

Simply Red 09-29-2014 12:26 AM

IN FOR THE WIN.

Hammock Parties 09-29-2014 12:27 AM

Interesting note: first matchup of Alex Smith vs William Belichick.

Hearing Belichek gushing about Hali makes me want to explore ways the Chiefs could try to keep him.

Simply Red 09-29-2014 12:46 AM

I hope we spank them - for some reason I feel like we're going to come out firing on all cylinders, could be a case of wishful thinking.

I will not actually be able to make the game with family, so you are in luck.

Not too much luck, however, as I will have to be multitasking during the game.

I'll be in the chat, however my participation will be stunted.

LMAO

I believe in the talent on this team as much as anybody, but I don't know how we score on the Pats, unless Jamaal is full strength.

I fear he will not be. Losing Joe McKnight was absolutely tragic, as he could have developed into a critical weapon for us. (If you had told me I'd be typing that sentence four months ago, I would have laughed.)

the Talking Can 09-29-2014 09:21 AM

cliche time...we're looking at two vastly different narratives post-game

a. 1-3 chiefs, injury riddled, with a now fluke/meaningless win over a distinctly mediocre miami...Denver game forgotten

b. 2-2 (on a win streak), overcoming injuries with Berry, DAT, and Stephenson set to return, and an attention grabbing dismantling of the Brady/Belicheck colossus (even if an aged, hobbled version)...'hey they also played denver close'

If the Chiefs win this game and beat the weaker teams on the schedule, that Tenn loss could be the difference between making the playoffs or not.

Sitting on a pear while typing.

Is that what you mean by multitasking?

dannybcaitlyn 09-29-2014 11:02 AM

I hope the defense doesn't let Bradys favorite target Edelman go wild on us.

DeathByArrows 09-29-2014 11:52 AM

Would be nice to get the W tonight because the remaining schedule is far from easy. If this is a loss, 9-7 is looking like an absolute best case scenario going off the first four weeks of the season in the league.

I have a feeling that Travis Kelce and Justin Houston will look really good tonight

ThaVirus 09-29-2014 12:27 PM

Edelman and Amendola are going to be bad matchups for Sean Smith. Maybe we can try having Smith shade Gronk from time to time..

I'm interested to see how this one plays out.

Amnorix 09-29-2014 12:27 PM

So maybe you guys already know this, BUT it looks like the Patriots may have an entirely new middle three of their offensive line starting tonight. Our OLine has been GOD-AWFUL so far this year, and the center and two guard spots are a significant part of the problem.

So we may start not one but TWO fourth-round draft picks tonight (Stork and Fleming).

For the first time ever

In Arrowhead

Against a Chiefs D that includes Hali and Houston

Yeah....this could be interesting...

There is basically a zero chance that Amendola has a significant impact on this game. Seriously.

Amnorix 09-29-2014 12:32 PM

Not that you guys much care, but you may see presumed starting left guard Dan Connelly tap presumed starting center Bryan Stork in the leg before plays, particularly in shotgun. That tap is the start of the silent snap count, and is used to help a rookie center out. Connelly has been around for a few years now.

Just Passin' By 09-29-2014 12:33 PM

Reports are that the Patriots will be making major changes to their OL, with all 3 interior positions having new players in them.

Solder still at LOT
Connolly moves to OLG to replace Cannon
Stork starts at OC, replacing Connolly
Fleming starts at ORG, replacing Devey

So the Chiefs are going to be facing 2 rookies making their first starts, right up the middle. Poe could singlehandedly win this game for the Chiefs tonight.

I will say this -- the Patriots MUST do something to fix their OLine. Their performance the last three weeks has been stunningly bad. "Can't win with this shit" bad. "WTF is going on here?" bad.

Even if the rookies get pushed around, even if a miscommunication error leads to a strip sack that costs us the game, I'm good with this change. If these two rookies are upgrades over the pathetic performances we've seen so far this season, then the SOONER we plug them in, the better we will be in the long run. As long as it doesn't result in Brady getting injured, then let's do this and get those guys going. NOW is the time, before we run into the real meat of our schedule, and the intra-division games.

I'll keep my fingers crossed for the best, but be prepared for the worst.

HeatEquation 09-29-2014 12:40 PM

As a Pats fan my biggest concern is obviously the Oline. However, some interesting news today:

Quote:

@shalisemyoung expect changes at all 3 interior OL spots tonight - Connolly at LG, Stork getting 1st career start at C, Fleming at RG
Stork getting the start is very good news for us. In the last game we gave Brady the best protection we have all season with Stork in the lineup. Flemming has also been fairly good in his limited play.

Anyways, I still predict a close and low scoring game. Should be an interesting night.

EDIT: well, looks like this has already been brought up.

Easy 6 09-29-2014 12:40 PM

So Berry is out?... jeeez, whatever is going on with him is worse than they're letting on.

He was really needed for this one to help contain Gronk, they're gonna try to unleash him tonight.

I dont have any major gripe with Abdullah, but he's no Berry.

Gronk was on tv today talking about how he's 100% again, and since he's their best weapon by far we can look forward to seeing a lot of him tonight, having Berry back there would make me feel a lot better about it.

But I do like ThaVirus' idea of having Smith on him once in a while, he has the right size/speed combo to do a pretty good job of it IMO.

It would be nice to see Gronk looking like his old self, but you can probably relax at least a little bit on the Gronk front. Gronk may say that he's 100%, but he's been playing at about half to 3/4 speed, especially on cuts. Unless he takes a huge jump tonight, the Chiefs will still be facing a shell of the former Gronk.

9er guy 09-29-2014 12:58 PM

Should be a good game. Both teams still looking for some consistency on offense.

Is Charles gonna go with that high ankle sprain? He's been practicing right?
