Business Owners
Am looking into getting a Credit Card for the business. Its obviously a small business.
So any of you small business owners, what do you suggest? |
Damn, you just missed Exoter.

Not a small business owner, but I'd imagine it depends on what types of things you're looking for in a card. Rewards? Reporting? Interest rate?
I know we use Southwest's card at work, so if you travel a lot, you might check that one out. |
Capital One Spark gives 2% cash back on all purchases with no limits. Hard to beat.

It is a pain in the ass. I haven't used it but I would think setting up a phone swiped would be easiest unless your business is larger.

Amex is the best for cash back at the end of the year, but also carry the highest annual fees. The southwest one is the best of the flight ones as far as I can tell, you get more flyer miles with the airline specific ones (obviously). The chase cards have the most up front bonus points if you spend 3-5k in the first three months depending on which one you get.
I use the Southwest one for business and the chase sapphire for personal spending/bills. All of them have pluses and minuses, just a matter of getting one that you want. One thing I do love about the chase card is that when you call their customer service line a person answers, so you don't have to deal with all the talking to a computer bullshit. |
This thread is much better than the one about the guy with the crooked dick, so thanks for putting it up :)

We use Chase Ink. It's an average card.
The only drawback, and it's a big one, is that if your COMPANY'S spending limit is $10,000 for the month and you pay down the balance during the month, you still can't go past a monthly spend of $10K without raising the credit limit. Every once in a while that happens when our company has to put a large expense like a trade show payment on the card. The online statements are also so-so as they never show any pending charges, they are either there or not there. My personal Scottrade account has the BEST reconciliation statement for my charges as the second there is a charge against my account, it goes into the pending section and reduces my available balance until it clears. I see every charge that hit's my account unlike the Chase Ink that has pending charges not even visible on the online account. Our company gets rebates every month with all we spend, mostly gas for all the sales team and our trucks. |
I used to only have mileage cards but wised up after numerous attempts to use the miles with no flights available. Inventory is very limited and then on top of it they charge additional fees of some sort. Of course if you don't mind using 50000 miles each way there are more flight options. The way I think about the 2% cash back is for the same 25000 miles if you/re lucky enough to find a flight, I could have $500. Many or most of my round trip flights are less than the $500 and better yet, I can use the $500 on anything I want as opposed to being limited to flights.
