Mr. Laz 04-24-2015 09:21 AM

i've pretty much concluded that the Royals are going to be considered 'Wrong' no matter what happens.

1. other team hits our batter first

Royals shouldn't retaliate because it's just baseball

2. Royals hit their batter first

Other team is free to retaliate because it's just baseball

If the Royals get spiked, hit, talked shit to,shot with a handgun ... just take it because that's baseball.

even some of our own fans will rationalize it so that the Royals are in a no-win situation

I'm not sure the Royals can survive an entire season with this kind of abuse. By the end of the year they are going to be so beat up that they won't have much left.

I share the frustration, but I don't think it's that dire. I think it comes down to one player who is gonna have to turn the other cheek and refuse to be baited/trolled. If Ace can be Mr. Chill, everything else will fall in line. This is not a team of hotheads.

we hit their guy in the forearm ... barely

They hit our guy in the face

I would tend to be pissed too.

We've been hit like 16 times(?) in 16 games.

Just take a second and think about that. We have a better "hit batter average" than many players have batting average.

tk13 04-24-2015 09:54 AM

I wonder if they'll just issue warnings to both teams before the game and be done with it.

fine with me

nobody gets hit on either side

sounds good

but that won't happen

It will be ...

Chicago will hit a Royal AND THEN the warning so again the Royals get hit with no retaliation without ejection

or

The Royals will hit someone and get ejected immediately, no warning at all

Unfortunately I think this is probably right. After the extra inning game yesterday a pregame warning might work today, but it will carry over to the next game with the Sox. I think we've squashed it. We probably have to turn our tail one time.

Or there is a pregame warning. The Sox bean Cain in the first anyways. We get multiple players/coaches ejected, but the pitcher that hit our guy stays in the game.

I haven't been able to watch much so far this year, because the games haven't been on in Iowania.....but the truth is, I kind of like the team pissed off and feeling like everyone is out to get them. I can't think of a better way to keep them focused and not getting too big of heads based on last years success.

If you have Mediacom, I think they are on somewhere. They are definitely on in DSM. You have to flip through all the regional FSN channels because the TV listings are sometimes incorrectly saying that they are showing a different game.

It really seems like teams Are out to hurt them. I don't remember seeing anything like this before-except maybe in the late 70's-but that was against the Yankees-not the entire MLB.

That would probably be the one advantage to a pregame warning. If they hit a Royal, the pitcher will be tossed pretty much no matter what. If they don't issue a warning they can hit us first and then get the warning.

That's the drawback to a pregame warning, it can scare pitchers from going inside because if they hit somebody they're probably getting tossed no matter what.

I haven't every seen anything like this except maybe the Royals/Yankees in the 70's/80's.

Even then it was just 2 teams, this is several.

Harold Reynolds made a good point last night. He said a lot of public opinion has turned against Yordano Ventura because he talked shit to league golden boy Mike Trout.

I have to give Moose mad props so far this year. The light bulb seems to have finally gone off with him. I hope he continues to be a productive player. He plays above average defense, he's hit in the clutch, he's been positive, and has taken on a role as a team leader.

All very good things. He just looks like a totally different guy out there compared to last year. I think last October woke him up to what it's all about.

I agree completely with this. It isn't hyperbole. If you showed me video of his ABs last year compared to this year, I wouldn't believe it was the same player.

That's always stuck in my craw, too, but to be fair Reynolds didn't give it to himself. Blame the idiot voters.

penbrook 04-24-2015 12:43 PM

I could listen to Harold Reynolds talk all day about baseball. He's probably the best analyst out there because he has his own opinions and doesn't jump to conclusions

ROYC75 04-24-2015 01:12 PM

The White Sux are just pissed off they can't beat us. Losing all the time brings out the worst in people.

But with all the celebrations our boys do, it adds fuel to their ( other teams ) fire. So all of this goes with the territory, it's just baseball. I like it, I hope we keep winning and watch the sore losers act like babies in the process.

With this said, we don't need to instigate anything. Ace needs to grow up, act like it doesn't bother him and just win!

It's a win / win!

In the late 70's the Royals and Chisox had two huge brawls. One during a doubleheader where sox 1B Jim Spencer and Darrel Porter got into it good.

I really don't see where either starter is deserving of a suspension. The guys who weren't playing that threw punches, ok as long as spell check gets more than Volquez since he came out of the dug out swinging like snoop's dreads.

I don't see how Ventura gets suspended. I don't think there's ever been a suspension for using foul language. If any Royal other than Volquez misses a game than it's complete crap.

ditto. I don't know why he's here. Do we have no one in Omaha who can pitch in relief? He's getting stretched out in AA to work on being a starter, and now we're screwing around with him.

Should have made a bet in the offseason on this one - could have worked a case of boulevard from you at the very least

penbrook 04-24-2015 03:50 PM

So Chris Sale did indeed go to the Royals clubhouse after he got ejected looking for a fight. But yet he doesn't get called anything. If Ventura did that he would be called a thug. Not saying this is racism but it is what it is.

Has it been confirmed? May take a minute for the story to get legs - the Royals do seem to be getting a bad rap. The one caveat is that as the issues follow our team it makes it hard to brush off - but I think it really comes down to the team saying enough is enough. Will be interesting to see how this plays out. Hopefully brings the team even closer together than before - if thats possible.

The one caveat is that as the issues follow our team it makes it hard to brush off - but I think it really comes down to the team saying enough is enough. Will be interesting to see how this plays out. Hopefully brings the team even closer together than before - if thats possible.

Sale would not confirm or deny the report. So that basically means he did it, but doesn't want to pay the piper for it.

Per Andy McCullough

Chris Sale did, indeed, stop by the Royals clubhouse looking for a fight after his ejection. Sale did not deny it to Chicago reporters.

"We gotta come out tonight and lay the wood on 'em." -- Eric Kratz on the White Sox.

Andy is usually pretty money with his reporting - that just makes the Royals look that much better in my opinion.

Eric Kratz can say these things because he's a scary ****ing mountain of a man.

I dare a Sox player to fight this guy. Double dare.

I have a high school friend on the White Sox, too. He wouldn't dare **** with a guy like Kratz and he's a burly, backwoods ****er.

I don't see how Ventura gets suspended. I don't think there's ever been a suspension for using foul language. If any Royal other than Volquez misses a game than it's complete crap.

even worse, He got suspended 5 game for trying to hit a guy and missing behind him
