Hi all,

We're about to get through our logjam in Sandbox Simulations. Can you report here and let me know your team name so I know which teams are active and which teams may need new owners?

It'll probably be 4 to 6 weeks before we're up and running because we have some data cleanup to do, but it's imminent. We'll run the 2013 and 2014 seasons, and then have the 2015 draft, so get ready for some action!

If you're interested in owning a team, you can also post here and let me know. We'll likely have some turnover, so we should have some teams opening up.

I'm checking in for the Madison Brewers in League 2.

Pending cdcox's approval, I'm down with this. However, we're getting close to a commercial launch so we probably need to start being PC on the names. We've developed a database of several thousand potential team names and would appreciate it if you would pick a name from that list. However, in Leagues 1 and 2 we'll be a little more lenient and open to alternatives.

The database is enclosed in an Excel file.

Wow. Ermines didn't even make THAT list.

UND has GOT to pick that name. It's the most identifiable thing since the Billikens.

I actually added them to the database before I uploaded it, along with Flying Ermines, Fighting Ermines, and Thunder Ermines. But you're right - the database contained over 2,000 names of current and past team names at all levels, and there wasn't a single ermine to be found. It's actually staggering.

Holy shit. That's it.

Ermines is great. I think UND should go with that.

But if the university wants something that sounds more deadly that can also better resonate with who UND is as an institution, they should go with Flying Ermines. It calls on UND's aviation studies program that is second-to-none in the country while also making the mascot more deadly. After all, if you had problems dealing with an ermine before, you'll have even more problems dealing with a flying ermine.

I actually kind of like Thunder Ermines, too. It's a nice norse nod. (Say that three times.)

I just went and suggested ermines again on the nomination site. My reasoning today is that it's a completely new name that will eliminate any of the existing camps from "winning" or "losing" in the name battle.

i thought I had a team in each league, but apparently my L1 team (Overland Park Chiefs) has been turned over to someone else for some reason.

I couldn't find the thread for league onereigning champs to check in on, so I guess the Pittsburgh Tacos (don't forget, it's pronounced take-ohs) will check in here.

I'm at the point where it's been two years and we should just start fresh

Are you advocating starting new in the upcoming season with a new draft, or starting new from 2011 and drafting from the players back then? The second option would be kind of confusing, I think. Or I guess we could still play the 2014 season starting from scratch and then move forward, because we won't have a 2015 season until next February since we have to wait for the NFL season to end.

starting fresh after last year, so we have a free agency draft, then we have a rookie draft for the 2015 class.

Obviously I would love to start from scratch but understand why others may not be in favor of that at all.

Well I even have good teams it's just it's been two years, we have back drafts to take care of and the draft isn't as fun knowing how good the players already are. A fresh start in my opinion would be best all around.

I'm Austin Armadillos in League 1, and I'd love a fresh start. Especially since I have Aaron Hernandez on my roster.

I wouldn't be opposed to a fresh start in one league or the other, but not both. It's literally weeks of drafting through 60+ rounds. Anyone advocating a fresh start wasn't around the first time...

I DEFINITELY don't want a fresh start (even though my team could use one).

Fact is, I want to see how our teams evolve over time and starting over defeats that purpose.

I JUST solved the crisis of basically not having a team beyond 2014 because all of the players on my roster were on 1-year deals.

I don't want to go back.

League 2 - Columbia KC Hood Starz checking in

cdcox and I are considering our options. Right now, we're inclined to not have a do-over because part of our testing of the system is the long-term player acquisition process. A new draft would also throw off our timing for 2015 and we want to get back on track.

My theory is that we're all looking at our rosters with collective horror, but that's because we haven't had a 2014 draft and free agency yet. I think those two things will help us all restock our rosters.

We'll be in touch shortly. In the meantime, recruit other players and get current players to check in. I don't want to give away someone's team accidentally.

I'm getting stoked up for this.

I'd keep him around. You know, just in case he escapes.

I'm the team in league 2 with Andrew Luck and literally no one else

this game currently shows me the high turnover rate in the NFL since the rosters are from two years ago I have a bunch of guys now who in one year aren't even in the league anymore lol..

It's really kind of amazing, isn't it? I think our free agency period will be huge going into this season.

Update?

We are working on expanding our staff to better serve our loyal team owners.

That's fine and dandy, but does that mean we'll be starting over?

Because I honestly forgot everything about my team. I have no clue what year it is in Sandbox and therefore, who's good or even an active player in the league.

We've got to be like 3 years behind at this point. Everyone will know exactly how every player performs for the next three seasons. That will take all the realism out of it.

I had a ton of draft picks stocked up for the next draft. I was in full rebuilding mode. Do I lose all my picks?? I figured the season would be tough to win but we would be professional and play it out. But I was highly anticipating the draft because that's where I was gonna set my team up to dominate for years to come.

When I think about how much my life has changed since I last played this... the mind boggles.

Will I get roster relief since Mark Gastineau has retired from my defense?

I'll have to talk to cdcox about this, but given the delay I think I may vote for a start-over. At that point we'll have all of the infrastructure in place to keep it going.
