He looks like a weird cross between Liotta and Walken. Makeup job was very awkward. Other than that it looked interesting.

Looks like the real Whitey Bulger. Opens friday can't wait. The scriptwriter is from KC and went to Rockhurst HS.

This looks like a movie where I will love it, but never want to watch it again because afterwards I feel awful.

Like Monster or Nightcrawler did to me.

Going to see it Friday night,can't wait.

This movie is getting very good reviews, 87% on RT. 8.7 on IMDB

Depp probably only took the role in this film so he can dress up in goofy make up again. I mean, you can only play Captain Jack Sparrow so long.

Great book, and I suspect it will be a great movie, though ****ing depressing as hell. So glad that POS FBI agent is serving life in prison.

Kid the wrote the screen play to this movie from KC is having a big week as Everest opens tomorrow also, he wrote screenplay for that also. He was on the local stations doing interviews this morning.

It was boring as ****, good score though. My friend Dan Danford (used to noodle backup with sabbith) did the music.

If I recall the end of the film said he got 40 years

It was excellent,Depp nailed the role.Of course if you were looking for an action packed shoot 'em up I can see why you thought that.It's a great character study and Depp is pure ****ing evil.

I didn't see it just ****ing around cross thread with the "rock is dead" thread. I am sure it is fine. Depp is At the top of his game.

Yeah, it was good. Depp was good as usual. He played that character great. As Nzoner said pure evil.

On a side note we also saw The Visit this weekend. If you like the horror genre you would probably like this. Shamalayn actually didn't completely suck this time.

I saw a screening of this earlier this week. I thought it was very good, solid movie. Depp was great, but I thought Joel Edgerton was great too as the FBI agent. I've seen some of his other movies but wasn't that familiar with him. The whole cast was really good though.

I really want to see this.

On a side note I thought Depp would have been an excellent Robert Durst. That whole story is a hard one to express without watching the HBO specials but he's the only serial killer in US history to actually be this obviously guilty and yet escaped justice...

6.5 out of 10. Yeah, Johnny was very good but sorry fellas, the movie is nowhere near worthy of being mentioned in the top ten mob movie/ crime dramas. Some clumsily written dialogue, poorly directed scenes, and characters that didn't reflect their persona or demeanor from the two books I've read about Bulger/Winter Hill Gang. It's as though the actor or maybe the director said "nope; I wanna play him MY way." A documentary it isn't, and I understand artistic license. But deep down Goebbels wasn't sympathetic towards jews, and Steve Flemmi had no qualms about killing. Don't try to change generally accepted facts about a real person.

I wanted this movie to kickass. Depp did, but the rest of the movie was good not great.

Shame...

Personally I would bump to 7 of 10 for Depp's performance but absolutely agree it doesn't make my top 10 mob/crime films.

Thought it was pretty good, 8.5 out of 10. If you are looking for a film that has some disney ending and that will make you feel warm and fuzzy inside, well this one just isn't it.
