Chargers have real shot to win it all, finally

LMAO

Looks like the SDSPM is at it again. WOW!

http://www.sandiegouniontribune.com/...hampions-acee/

It is possible the Chargers saved the best for last.

Come the first Sunday in February, we might not know whether to raise a toast or cry in our beer. Maybe we’ll do both.

It’s not preposterous to believe we could get the opportunity to find out.

We’re three days into training camp, so this isn’t a prediction.

What it is, is the best perspective that can be gleaned at this point. It’s a spectrum of possibility. It is legitimate hope, and it is prudent realism.

The Chargers, in what may well be their final season in San Diego, can be a good team. A playoff team. A Super Bowl team.

We’re not saying they are a good team because, well, we know better. Fool us once, shame on you. Fool us a few dozen times, shame on us.

We’ve seen promise unravel, at various times, in a steaming pile of historically bad special teams, seemingly infectious injuries, ridiculous penalties, overconfidence and Marlon McCree.

But, really, this Chargers team has the potential to be what no Chargers team has ever been before

Bob Dole 08-02-2015 08:35 PM

Did they replace Rivers?

TimBone 08-02-2015 08:40 PM

Hammock Parties 08-02-2015 08:43 PM

Let's talk shit on the Chargers and ignore all the rafters in the eye of the Kansas City Chiefs!

Kman34 08-02-2015 08:44 PM

Right....It's pretty much the same team we punked at the end of last season with Chase at QB.....

KCrockaholic 08-02-2015 08:51 PM

Kevin Acee is such a fluff piece bum.

jimidollar 08-02-2015 08:54 PM

The Chiefs haven't won a playoff game since 1994. That said, KC wins a SB before SD does.

Strongside 08-02-2015 08:55 PM

Shouldn't this be moved to the "what strains of weed are you currently smoking" thread?

mcaj22 08-02-2015 09:09 PM

There is absolutely zero chance this Chargers team is better than the 2006 Chargers team that went 14-2 which should have went to the Super Bowl. They were 1st in offense and like a top 10 defense too. No chance this is the best Chargers team has ever been before. Absolutely stupid.

We should be trying to emulate the Chargers. We should look up to them.

Instead we will shit on them to make ourselves feel better about our Chefs.

Also, the Chargers have spent the better part of the last decade emulating the 90's Chiefs. I think we all know where that got us and them. I'd rather emulate a team that's actually won something.

What? Not even. Not since they picked Rivers. And they've always been more of an offensive team.

Strongside 08-02-2015 09:35 PM

All this said, this division will be much tighter a race than it has in years. The Raiders won't be absolute shit this year either. Winner won't take it by more than 2 games.

The Chargers were the "best team to never make the playoffs" most every other year in the late 00's. I don't know what version of amnesia people have developed. They were a pick to win the AFC almost every year.

This.

He's basically saying that the Chargers will be contenders if there are no injuries.

If "ifs" and "buts" were "candies" and "nuts" the Chargers would be enormous lard asses.

He glazed over the fact that there's no proven pass rush and completely ignored the lack of a decent NT or RG.

He also seems to have forgotten about Gates' 4 game suspension.

He's right though... If everyone stays healthy and plays a full season the Chargers will be very good. Like that's gonna happen.

DaneMcCloud 08-03-2015 02:08 AM

Jets had no business being in the AFC Championship with their crappy Mark Sanchez/Shonn Greene offense. And this current Chargers team doesn't even look close to either the 2006 or the 2009 team.

The Bengals ARE us with more flash.

Make the playoffs and first round exit every time...

Mother****erJones 08-03-2015 09:23 AM

The reason I'd give SD a better shot than KC is because they have a franchise QB. We don't. We need EVERYTHING to go right for us to win it all. It's already not happening with Poe's injury.

Last year they beat THE BRONCOS.

The year before that they beat THE PATRIOTS and THE COLTS.

So I'm pretty sure they can handle the lil 'ol Kansas City Chefs coming on the second leg of a 2-game road trip after the Packers thrash us.

Last year we beat the Pats and the Seahawks.

We were THE ONLY TEAM IN THE LEAGUE TO BEAT BOTH SB TEAMS.

What did that get the Bengals either of those two years?

What did that feat get the Chiefs last year?

They actually lost to the Jets 17-14 due to Nate Kaeding missing 3 FGs.

This year's roster looks just as "good" as the 2009 team. The difference is the rest of the Division sucked in 2009.

But Reid needs to do more than be creative on a Mon/Sun night game.

I don't tend to worry about the Chargers. We match up very well with them.

Our run defense sucks, their run offense is worse. Their pass offense is good, our pass defense is amazing.

They have some great pieces in the secondary, we don't pass to our WRs. Their front 7 sucks, we have JC and Kelce.

I don't know if the Chiefs D is legit, but they didn't give up 300 yards passing in a single game all last season. That is solid and plenty good enough to win with.
