Fisher officially in at RT for Monday

Eric Fisher to start at right tackle for Chiefs on Monday vs. Packers BY TEREZ A. PAYLOR tpaylor@kcstar.com Eric Fisher will return to the starting lineup Monday night at Green Bay, Chiefs coach Andy Reid announced Saturday. Fisher, 24, has missed the Chiefs’ last five games as he recovers from a high ankle sprain. He will start at right tackle for Jah Reid, who has started the Chiefs’ first two regular-season games. Fisher was expected to be ready to start at right tackle in the Chiefs’ season opener, but sources told The Star he opted out of the lineup because of concern over his high ankle sprain. Chiefs coach Andy Reid, however, maintained afterward he made the decision to sit Fisher because of the ankle injury. Despite the injury, Fisher has logged three offensive snaps as a reserve at left tackle and 10 special-teams snaps as a blocker on the field-goal unit in the Chiefs’ first two games. He has not played right tackle since his rookie year in 2013, but Reid said Fisher has “done well” in practice this week. “I mean, he had played over there for the year, his first year,” Reid said. “He’s a pretty good athlete. Easy adjustment.” Fisher is listed as probable on the injury report, along with fellow offensive lineman Jeff Allen, who has also missed the Chiefs’ last five games, including preseason, because of a MCL sprain in his knee. “He had a better week this week, so he’s pretty close to 100 percent,” Reid said of Allen. Allen, a full-time starter at left guard in 2013 who missed almost all of 2014 because of injury, opened training camp as the starter at right guard but was inserted as the starting right tackle in the Chiefs’ preseason opener against Arizona, where he injured his knee. |
Expecting line to move from Chiefs +7 to -10.5

Good. I'm not as down on Fisher as most folks are. I think he'll play well. Certainly better than Jah Reid.
|
I have been down on him, but I hope he kicks ass.

He looked great in his one preseason appearance. Let's hope he keeps it up. |

Negligible.

He's only played 3 snaps on offense and got his ass kicked for a sack on one of them.
It sucks that he has been so injury prone since, literally, his first practice when I was 20 feet away and Austen Lane was destroying him. He has shown flashes of being a good player, but at this point in his career...the bad outweighs the good. He needs to stay healthy and show marked improvement this year of he wants any chance of the team picking up that silly dollar amount for his fifth year option that needs picked up after this year. Otherwise, next year will be his last one in KC and after the huge investment in him, we REALLY need him to pan out on the right and for Dorsey to lock up Stephenson long term. If Fisher and LDT can solidify that right side, this line has a chance to be flat out nasty once it gels. |

Fisher didn't cause that sack. He pushed the first wave back. Alex held onto the ball too long.

Fisher pushed the guy 10 feet around Smith and then started looking for another guy to block. He didn't realize that Smith was going to hold onto to it for 10 minutes. Next time i imagine Fisher will push him clear to the sideline until they both can get a drink of water even though he shouldn't have to |

LT - Fisher barely better than Stephenson RT - Fisher significantly better than Stephenson They move Fisher because Stephenson was so much better at Fisher's position than his own. I still think Stephenson was sandbagging at RT because he wants to go into FA as a LT this year. |

I hope he can pull his head out and get someone blocked.

Much as some want to say he lost his job at LT, he didn't. |

He was gone the moment Reid decided to switch his position for the 2nd time Stephenson is a free agent Fisher will likely be cut unless he's take a salary reduction So yes, we are probably going to be looking for 2 new OT's next year. Dorsey's never ending Oline merry-go-round continues Grubb's base salary jumps from 900k to 5.8 million so who knows if he will be staying either. Dorsey treats the Oline like middle relief in baseball, just piece whatever junk you can scrounge up and slap on some duck tape. |
Duck tape?

I'm predicting the Chokes offensive line will soon be:
LT Stephenson LG Grubbs C Morse RG Allen RT Fisher *It'll be better but we'll just find a way to you know......? Because? We are the Chiefs. It's that simple:D |
Alex plays like horse shit. So, should 't the line play like a kathead?

Ldt has already beaten out Fulton and Allen. Allen is healthy and isn't starting. That tells you about who the chiefs think is better. I don't see Ldt losing his job anytime soon. |

LDT is starting right now, not because he is the best player today, but because he will likely be the best player by season's end. |

Mandarich? Courtney Brown, Jamarcus Russell, Tim Couch? Which of those were better than Fisher? I'd have him right after those. |

I couldn't remember off the top of my head. Thanks. He went two? |

Those are good. Although I tend to go easy on Carr for the same reason I went easy on Alex and Tim couch. The talent around them and dysfunction of the franchises hurt them. And this only applies to Carr and Couch. It's hard to know if they were that bad because of it. |
Tyson Jackson is a much larger bust than Fisher simply based on salary.

Quote:
Jamarcus, Courtney Brown, Carter. Fisher is easily not bottom 3. If Fisher ends up being even a quality backup, he'll beat out Couch, Carr, and Emtman. Would even throw in Jeff George. We're also comparing Fisher to a bunch of hyped consensus #1 picks. You can't compare him to Peyton Manning or Andrew Luck because there was no consensus #1 in the class. It was the best of the worst. So we can't compare Fisher to other #1's. We have to compare him to the top 10 of his class. And if he is even just an average starter at RT, he'll already be better than most of the top 10 in that class. I still hate the Fisher pick. But JFC, can we please cut it out with the exaggeration? |
He isn't a huge bust. Just a giant puss.

The season that the Texans signed Shaub, the same O-Line, with one "upgrade", Jordan Black, commonly referred to a "I-70" in Kansas City, gave up half as many sacks as they did the previous season with Carr at QB. Alex Smith is slow on his progressions, but I am not sure that Carr even ever heard of the concept. That guy was the William Bartee of QBs. |

Just leave LDT at RG and let him develop If they stay healthy Stephenson,Grubb,Morse,LDT,Fisher should be our Oline for the rest of the year. Allen and Reid can be our swing backups. |
Quote:
(And, for what it's worth, the coaching staff was really on Allen's jock in the summer, saying he was the best O-lineman out there. Guy has just had some shit luck in terms of injury and might just best serve the team as the main backup at this point.) I think that they could potentially upgrade Reid in the next draft, but he's a young player and could potentially develop into that decent swing tackle type of guy. If Fisher can stay healthy from here on out and they can build some continuity, I think it's a pretty good and deep (but young) offensive line. One that you can really build up going forward from this point on. |

I do remember you slobbing on his nuts since forever. For no good reason might I add. Quote:

My only hope is that Fisher kicks as tomorrow night.
If not, the position may be a swinging door all season. |
All based on the Alex release time divided by how long he holds it.
|
"He's a pretty good athlete."
(#1 overall draft pick) |
