On passes targeted 20-plus yards downfield, he completed 5 of 7 for 221 yards and a touchdown.

Maybe most impressive, though, was his performance against the blitz.

He completed 11 of 18 passes when blitzed for 277 yards, three touchdowns and a +5.7 pass grade.
Quote:

This season, Dalton has been playing well, with no poor games yet, and is currently the sixth-ranked PFF quarterback through three weeks.

His passer rating under pressure is 108.9, and when blitzed, it’s a ludicrous 140.0.

He has thrown just one interception so far this season, compared to eight touchdowns, and (adjusting for drops) has been accurate on 70.7 percent of his passes.

alpha_omega 09-29-2015 02:20 PM

That's quite the turnaround...if i recall, he has sucked in years past. 140.0 when the blitz is on is indeed impressive.

KC native 09-29-2015 02:22 PM

Andy Dalton, the most awesome ginger to ever attend TCU.

Yet another data point as to why we should draft Boykin. He is destined for greatness.

Mr. Flopnuts 09-29-2015 02:22 PM

The Bengals are the biggest surprise too me so far this year. They have looked elite in all phases.

Hammock Parties 09-29-2015 02:23 PM

Andy Dalton is 2nd in YPA and has been sacked only 2 times this year....

I wonder what that's like...

Discuss Thrower 09-29-2015 02:25 PM

That offense is stacked and their defense is pretty good too.

It'll be another 14+ margin in the first half and the game will effectively be over before the 4th quarter starts.

tooge 09-29-2015 02:25 PM

I've read that ginger.....ness, is a trait that is slowly going away in humans. Not sure if it's because nobody wants to mate with male gingers, or something else?

Nope. The second the LT and LG get walked back within two yards of him he's running out of the pocket for a 3-4 yard scramble.

I don't know that he CAN make that throw. That was a 35-yard line drive throw. Alex has to put a ton of loft on balls to get them that far.

Red hair is highly recessive. Really only found in Scandinavian countries and places with a large Scandinavian ancestry. Even then it was rare enough for people to get named after it ie Erik the Red.

Secondary play for the Bengals isn't elite. If only Alex could throw a forward pass.

Kirkpatrick got crushed and old man Steve Smith nearly had 200 yards and a pair of TDs against them.

Dalton has been league average for the past 3 years and has had a lot of help from AJ Green but there are far worse QBs to have.

He isn't Aaron Rodgers, but he is playin really well right now, and Aaron Rodgers didn't have AJ Green.

These Bengals might be the best team in the AFC at this point not located in New England.

Oh, this place is hilarious, I love it. I understand that Alex smith is a bum, but why are you clowns lusting over Andy Dalton? Everybody around here says we'll never win a playoff game or super bowl with Alex. And I'm just curious..how many of those things does Andy have in his 4 playoff appearances?

Ceej 09-30-2015 06:23 AM

Peters v. Green should be fun to watch.

InChiefsHeaven 09-30-2015 06:40 AM

All I know is, after the soul crushing defeat to the Donks, followed by a humiliation on national TV to the Packers, the Chiefs better show the **** up for this game. Frankly, it's a must win for them if they ever hope to make the playoffs, which is their stated goal.

I won't hold my breath, but weirder things have happened. Remember last year when we beat the Patriots AND the Seahawks? Weirder things have indeed happened.

That's all I got.

They'll win a few, but the lesson learned is this:

The Chiefs can not beat championship-level teams.

If Cincy was smart they would simply move him to the slot position so Tayvon Branch would cover him the whole game. Because well, Bob Sutton doesn't know how to accommodate for that type of strategy.

No they really aren't.

Halfcan 09-30-2015 11:19 AM

I am expecting another blow out. They have enough talent on defense to keep Alex throwing horizontal with at least 2 INT's / Fumbles. We have the absolute worst O-line, QB and secondary in the NFL- Cincy has to be excited to play this team.

Andy refuses to change his play calling to help prop up a weak O line. I have have zero faith in him calling plays, managing the clock and evaluating talent. I am sure the Chiefs will find new ways to bumble and fumble their way to another embarrassing loss.

48 - 10 Cincy all day every day.

This line isn't nearly as bad as Alex Smith makes it look.

They can not create running lanes when everyone on defense is lining up within 8 yards of the line, and they are giving Smith as much time, or more, as any QB in this league consistently.

Don't blink. It is very likely that Oakland will be 3-1 and you guys will be 1-3 after the weekend. You guys are in a rough spot that you are only going to trend down from the next few years. Oakland is trending in the right direction.

I agree-Smith makes the line look even worse, but Matthews imposed his will on that line.

Not only have the O line been bull rushed at will-they don't seem to know their blocking assignments. Countless times have let the D. come unblocked.

They can't seem to figure out any kind of blitzes whatsoever- whether it is a straight up attack or delayed. Alex is the worst QB I have ever seen against a blitz which only makes it worse.

It is going to be a long year.

The point is, and has been pointed out, that Chiefs are already displaying signs of a team broken. It's really no longer a talent vs. talent issue.

Reid has lost them.

Not at all. Most predicted to start 2-2. And if somehow they beat the pussies they would be just that with the Bears going into the bye. I would consider that a success. It was going to take a while for the oline to gel and not having Sean Smith definitely hurt. But if as you think the Chiefs get obliterated at Cinci, I'll join you in this hatred thing. [emoji23]

After a quick google search I see that they're keeping their jobs first because they're claiming JC's yards are from OL play, and secondly he's from Philly

I don't think the line has done JC any favors the last few years. JC openly questioned the O line play before the season started. Management listened by signing Grubby and Fannicuz, then drafted Morse. Jury is still out on Morse, but he holds in own more than not it seems.

I agree we need some new coaching involved- this line is beat down. We still have some tough Defenses to play. No where to go but up.
