No thanks. That's going to be a GIANT kluster**** of people.

KevB 11-02-2015 07:58 PM

Yep, trying to decide when to leave and where to go. Thinking 8:00 and Union Station, but there may be 400k more thinking the same thing.

Bearcat 11-02-2015 07:59 PM

Grabbed a hotel room last night so I could get some work done in the morning and not worry about parking or shuttles or the other 500 thousand people.

Thinking of just sticking around the end of the route.

baitism 11-02-2015 08:00 PM

Probably get to Crown Center around 8. I hear it's $10 to park there. I will probably do that or Penn Valley Park.

The chaos will be miserable, but when my kids are my age, I want them to have that memory.

From the east, I guess you could go straight to Swope Park and shuttle from there... http://ridekc.org/news/parade

Thinking I'll walk over to Union Station around 9, see how it's going and decide if I should hang out for a few hours outside or get a little more work done.

wazu 11-02-2015 08:26 PM

In. Taking the shuttle from Metro North.

KCrockaholic 11-02-2015 08:39 PM

What's a good time to show up to the shuttle? I'm thinking around 7:45? Is that good enough?

I'm hoping to bypass the shuttle route. fingers crossed

MTG#10 11-02-2015 08:43 PM

So bummed that I won't be able to get off work to drive up there. Disgusted seeing a bandwagon fan and her husband bragging about getting to go on Facebook when up until these playoffs started neither of them could name a single player.

:#

SAUTO 11-02-2015 08:44 PM

But you are probably right, swope park will get us to 27 and main, which is better than 19thwhere most other shuttles go.

KCFalcon59 11-02-2015 08:45 PM

The bandwagon fans peeve me. I'm glad the Royals brand has grown, but man, I sat through the 2000's and had season tickets in 2004 and saw all those 100 loss teams and endured it.

Then I've seen the young guys grow and develop and it's been a true pleasure to watch unfold. I've probably missed about 30 Royals games this season and last combined. Just realize it's sweeter when as a real fan we've gone through the journey to get to the top and had the full experience.

I've seen that, but will they be able to fit everyone onto the buses at that time? I feel like there could be a surprise waiting game for those who show up a little later. I've never taken a shuttle, so just asking.

digger 11-02-2015 08:50 PM

In, 9ish at union station Standing around for 6+ hours?
Damn that makes my knees hurt thinking about it.
Camping chairs, liter soda (1.25 and 1.5) and munchies.

mr. tegu 11-02-2015 08:51 PM

The wife and I will be at Union Station.

Munson 11-02-2015 08:55 PM

Pretty sure sure I'm going. Gotta figure out if I need to take one of these shuttles, or risk finding a place to park near the parade.

Rain Man 11-02-2015 08:55 PM

It was a big win, and a long flight home from London. It's nice of the city to give the Chiefs a parade.

I'm guessing a lot of people will be showing up an hour or two early for those and maybe even forcing them to do an early trip or two if the shuttles are sitting there before 9.

Buzz 11-02-2015 08:58 PM

I can see that to an extent with watching these guys come up and get better each season like you said in your last sentence, but not so much with watching 106 losses 10 years ago. I used to feel that way back in the day, like when Rams fans came out of the woodwork after their SB win, but these days I can't blame people for not watching something that isn't the least bit entertaining. And the Chiefs had fairly recent heartbreak back then, where as the Royals had 'only' not met expectations of becoming a playoff team.

The past couple of seasons have been a celebration of baseball (well, either pro sport) being back in KC, and largely a celebration between the generation who watched the 70s/80s Royals and their children or even grandchildren. Hopefully they're making some lifelong fans and will give them a reason to keep watching for years to come.

Per Faceook: Big Time Grain co. Will be kicking off with a concert at 10am at Union Station.

alnorth 11-02-2015 09:54 PM

I live in DSM and I've blown most of my remaining vacation on the playoffs. BUT I did stop by the stadium on my way back home to get a shirt and just happened to be there right in time to see Ned triumphantly carry the trophy through gate C followed by the rest of the team, so I'll just take that as an acceptable parade memory substitute.

Lonewolf Ed 11-02-2015 09:55 PM

I will be getting another chemo treatment, so I am stuck in the cancer center and will miss the parade. *groan*

Dave Lane 11-02-2015 09:58 PM

Crap I own a parking lot 1 block off the parade route and I'm sure I'd have to tow someone to get a spot in it.

1moreTRich 11-02-2015 10:01 PM

Coming up from Wichita. Planning to park at Kemper and take the shuttle. Fingers crossed its not full before we get there.

My wife was just saying she wished we could have been there and that could be our parade substitute.

I believe the parade will also be shown on local channel news and MLB network.

Northland representing! It's interesting to see where everyone is coming/going from...I guess I never actually think about where different posters might live.

But I like seeing all the Metro North talk....it'll be the most action that place has seen in 5 years.

Bearcat 11-03-2015 08:43 AM

Already a lot of people in front of Union Station from what I can tell.

Chiefspants 11-03-2015 08:47 AM

Hey all. I am leaving from Lawrence in about 30 minutes. Where should I park? My knowledge of downtown KC is shoddy at best, should I take the shuttle from Metro North?

Saw a pic of Metro North a little while ago and the lines are already pretty long, but there are already a lot of people downtown, too.

So, I'd say 1) leave now.

You're probably better off going to Olathe or Red Bridge if you're taking at shuttle... http://ridekc.org/news/parade

Crown Center parking is supposed to be available, but no idea if/when it'll fill up.

Not sure if they originally had that plan, but with so many people, I'm thinking it'll just be as fast as they can drive between each point.
