Titans fire Whisenhunt
http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap300...ans-head-coach
The Tennessee Titans have parted ways with head coach Ken Whisenhunt, the team announced Tuesday. Mike Mularkey will serve as interim head coach. |
They gave him a season and a half... nice.
|
He has been garbage since starting 4-0 in 2012.
|
Well, i guess Dexter McLackluster has a new HC.
|
This is why I don't like retreads. Ours included.
You about can't give a guy time to turn it around. |

That's how you build a championship team. Constantly change your HC.
Look at how great the Raiders have been over the past decade. |

...He has not done anything in like 3 years. He averages like 1 win a year. He is one of the most overrated coaches. |
What a bunch of Mularkey.

Whisenhunt as an OC with play calling duties would certainly be an upgrade over the Reid/Pederson combo platter.
|
As HC of Arizona in 2012 he started at 4-0. Since then, as HC in Arizona and Tennessee, he is 4-31, with most of that coming in the dreadful AFC South which might be the weakest division in football over the last three years.
That is, uhh, not good. |
I could see Haley getting a HC'ing job after the season and Whisenhunt going back to the Steelers next year.

Also most of these teams (and I'll put us in there) that change HC's a lot have consistently poor QB play... |
Ouch.
Bet he wishes he took the Detoilet job... |
I don't care if he's 90, if we could get Dick LeBeau this offseason I'd nut myself to seizure...
|
He went 3-20 as their HC, and of course one of those wins came against...The Kansas City Chiefs. At home. With retired Jake Locker as their starting quarterback.
Alex threw three interceptions that game, and Jamaal had 7 carries. |
There are a lot of journeymen coaches that rotate around the league. Only a few that are truly great stay in same team years after years.
|
Holy crap!!! Man watching this franchise descend into a total and complete dumpster fire is kind of sad. Titan's fans need to be careful, they could be looking at losing the team to L.A. or London if ownership can't get their act together.

He hasn't been a HC since 2002, and isn't the interim HC of the Titans. I'm pretty confident in saying that he's decided he doesn't want to be a HC. Considering hwo good he is at DC, and how mediocre he seemed as HC, he's probably right. Wade PHillips is another one -- very good DC, but terrible as a HC. Gregg Williams (BountyGate notwithstanding), Rex Ryan (seemingly), etc. There are a fair number like that. |

We have the type of talent on D he was accustomed to at Pitt and he's the master of the 3-4... |

Glad that the Chiefs took Dee Ford over Derek Carr... |

All NFL owners want to get back to 8-8 as quick as possible. An ownership group that is patience for 3 to 4 years, don't mind the sucking and can stockpile some high picks could build themselves a dynasty.

The stadium is nothing special, the game day experience is as pedestrian as can be and now they are going to start over looking for a new HC. Total dumpster fire. |

Ah I see. Oh, holy crap. Errr, yeah, that is actually brilliant. Andy Reid gets his new Jimmy Johnson. Yes, you guys should definitely do that. |

He'll be an OC somewhere at the start of the 2016 season.

Rivers had a good run with Whiz, too, which is why he was hired in Tennessee. |

I get why they did it but it's rough to get rid of a coach halfway through season one with a first round rookie QB. Now they have to hire someone who wants to work with Mariota, or dump him for another QB.
And if they keep moving forward with Mariota, he'll have to basically start over in year two. |

He has all the measurables teams look for in a rookie QB. |
He can probably get a job in Detroit as OC for the rest of the season with a chance to get the job next year going forward and then HC when the current HC gets fired by the end of the year. If he wants?

Most fan's in Oakland had no issues with Tom Cabel or Hue Jackson Mostly because they weren't retreads like our trash coach. |

His overall record is 48-71 and he's 8-31 since Kurt Warner retired. |

1-20 in games where he doesn't have 8 months to prepare.
