Dangit!!! I didnt want Ohio State on opposite the LSU/Bama game. I really need to go to a multiple TV set up.

KC native 11-03-2015 07:04 PM

The first playoff ranking is a ****ing joke.

KC native 11-03-2015 07:05 PM

Oh and

RAH RAH TCU!

And

florida sucks.

KCTitus 11-04-2015 08:36 AM

I have to applaud the Playoff Committee for showing they are taking some lessons from last year. Florida State had no business being #1 overall all year last year when the level of play on the field was evident they weren't.

As an OSU fan, I can say that the team has looked shaky at best and didnt deserve the #1 ranking. Hopefully, that provides them some motivation to continue the play as of late.

With no Barrett this week, it's entirely possible that we could see a loss...in every game this year Barrett has come in to help out Cardale who has really struggled this year.

keg in kc 11-04-2015 08:58 AM

Minnesota might cover but there's no way you lose.

Notre Dame has zero business being ahead of TCU or Baylor.

Clemson as a #1 team is laughable too (any ACC being #1 is a joke).

Michigan State, who needed a fluke play to beat Michigan and who plays in a god awful B1G, has no business being ranked above TCU.

Prison Bitch 11-04-2015 09:20 AM

Nobody wants TCU in so they won't get in. Why anyone follows this corrupt sport is amazing to me. The super-secret "committee" no longer even releases their methodology.

You have a better idea of a 3rd World dictators' election totals than this farce

DaKCMan AP 11-04-2015 09:26 AM

Maybe tcu should play a ranked team before you all bitch and cry. JFC, if they win this week they'll move up.

LOL...give it time...the playoff will be expanded appropriately to the point that it wont matter.

It'll never be like CBB - cant playoff 64 football teams, but you can do 8.

The committee has shown that it is biased to big brand names (last year and the first ranking this year).

BucEyedPea 11-04-2015 09:52 AM

I don't think FSU can beat Clemson but I can always hope for an upset.

Last year was due to your conference ****ing up. "One true champion" then naming co-champs even though they played head to head.

So what's their excuse for the ranking so far?

Quote:

TCU also seemingly had a strong beef about its initial ranking. The Horned Frogs are No. 2 in the FPI, No. 5 in the AP poll, No. 6 in strength of record and are riding a 16-game winning streak dating to last year. TCU, which is second nationally behind Baylor in scoring, also boasts the best QB in the country in Trevone Boykin, who has emerged as one of the front-runners for the Heisman.

TCU had to prevail in a pair of shootouts at Texas Tech and Kansas State. But as the Horned Frogs have gotten players back from injuries, they've improved defensively -- most recently holding West Virginia to its lowest yardage total since September 2013.

Still, the committee seemingly punished TCU for having to win close games, even though No. 3 Ohio State and No. 7 Michigan State have done the same against lesser opponents, as well. The Spartans squeaked by Purdue (2-6) and Rutgers (3-5); the Buckeyes, though talented, had trouble against Northern Illinois and Indiana.

Perhaps. But it's unreal that this "committee" was allowed to take a public process private. Where's the outrage from non-trad powers? It's a complete joke they don't release their weekly scoring methodology let alone the CRITERIA before the season so you know the rules going in

Cardale is ball sack man, we could potentially lose with him at QB. If JT was starting, I would say no way, with Cardale back there, who knows. We barley beat Northern Illinois with Cardale, yet we beat Wisconsin, Bama and Oregon back to back to back with him last year (mind boggling).

The butt hurt is strong with you lol. You guys haven't played anybody, neither have we, I wouldn't have cared where they put us in the top 10, because frankly it doesn't matter at this juncture in the season. If you win out you will be in. Who honestly cares at this point, there is way too much football left to get butt hurt yet. There will be many teams in the top ten that may lose multiple times before the end of the season, who freaking knows. Grab some popcorn, watch the games, and let the chips fall where they may. I hear some people crying bloody murder over Memphis not being in the top 5. If they win out, they would have a reason to be pissed, but its not the end of the season yet. A lot of things have yet to shake out. All TCU has to do is win out and they will be in.

Heh...I love conspiracy theories as much as the next guy, but damn, that's just weak. I think most agree 4 is too few, but it's a damn sight better than what we had to endure with the BCS, I mean especially considering what happened last year.

As long as Alabama continues to fail in the playoff era, I'm certainly good...be it TCU or Ohio State or even Clemson...

Of course it's public. They use the RPI and it nearly always goes in an "s-curve". They make it known SoS is the deciding factor between 2 similar RPI and the bracket itself has rules for conf matchups (none before Elite 8). Brackets are easy to predict.

Oh, and there's that whole thing about it being settled on court, thereby rendering seeding/geography unimportant

It's not a conspiracy theory. The committee has constantly shifted what they're looking at and have no problem using different qualifications each week as long as it gets them their desired result.

The B12 shot itself in the foot last year. If TCU wins out and is not in the playoff at the end of the year, then I would join a rally with you. There are way too many things that will happen between now and then. I don't mind sharing opinions on it, its fun, but until the end of the year it doesn't matter.

The committee absolutely nailed it last year. I see no reason to think they won't do the same this year. Ohio State won the whole thing and proved they belonged. Baylor lost to Michigan State and proved they didn't.

It's pretty hard to argue against Clemson, LSU, and Ohio State, and Alabama may be the best team in the country.

I think the Big 12 is the worst football conference in the nation right now. I really really think TCU and Baylor are overrated this year. I hope Oklahoma State rolls the Frogs. After they almost got beat by KU last year, and almost got beat by one of the worst teams in the Big 10 (Minnesota) I don't have alot of respect for them.

Take that up with the Big 12. If there's any team with a case, it's TCU, but their resume wasn't great because the conference was way down, and they lost to the only other team they played with any cache. Scraping by agains Kansas probably did them in.

My question was pretty simple...do you consider the BCS or pre-BCS system better than the 4 team playoff? If you do, be a man and admit as such. It's a laughable position, but you're certainly welcome to it.

I dont think the 4 team playoff is perfect by any stretch, and I think this definitely gets us closer to a real playoff with more teams. I thought the BCS was a precursor to a playoff, I just didnt think it would take 20 years to convert from that to a playoff.

I certainly hope that changes from 4 to 6 or 8 teams doesnt take 20 years...but it is most definitely better than before.

As much as it pains me to say it, so is the PAC.

SEC
Big 12
PAC
B1G
ACC

There's actually a decent amount of separation between each other than maybe between the PAC and B1G.

For all the bitching about how the committee put in whomever they wanted, in the end it was the 4 legit conference champions that got in. Even then, it took Ohio State going LAPD on Wisconsin in the CCG to leapfrog Baylor.

The only discussion at the time was Ohio State or Baylor...and that question couldn't have been answered more clearly in retrospect. Baylor was a fraud, Ohio State was the best team in the country, and TCU shouldn't have given up a 61 spot to Baylor.

I give a very slight lean to Bama. LSU is one dimensional...but they're really good at it. Bama lost a fluky game against Ole Miss, but they may still be the best team in the country.

It would be hilarious if Bama squeezed by them like 21-20 and then both won out. If they were to meet in the NCG again, people would lose their minds.

A playoff with something like Bama, LSU, Clemson, Ohio State is entirely possible under that scenario. (Substitute Baylor, TCU, Oklahoma State, or Notre Dame for Ohio State or Clemson, and the net result is the same.)

If Harris can hit some throws I think LSU is going to get by Bama. Bama had a really hard time stopping Zeke, and Fournette is arguably better (personally I like Zeke as a better all around back). Zeke's success was opened up a lot because Cardale was able to hit some timely throws, if Harris cannot hit any big throws, BAMA is going to load the box and they will shut down Fournette. If that happens I see the Tide crushing LSU.

Absolutely and the Big 12 has the worst bottom feeders of ANY major conference in Kansas and Iowa State. Everbody gets to play them, every team.

The B1G, ACC, and even PAC 12 all have more shitty bottom feeders.

Even Saul Good (who hates the Big 12 more than anyone on CP) acknowledges that the ACC, B1G, and Pac 12 are weaker than the Big 12.

Try again, dumb ass.

Right, so 50% of the conference basically sucks because its so small, whereas the other larger conferences only about 10-15% suck.

The B1G has one good team this year, Ohio State. The rest of their conference is mediocre to piss poor (more on the piss poor side than mediocre).

The ACC has one good team, Clemson, and one decent team, FSU. The rest of the conference is mediocre to piss poor.

The PAC 12 just sucks top-to-bottom this year.

The Big 12 is the 2nd best conference in cfb this year.

Teams with basically no chance of making a bowl:

ACC - 4/14
Boston College
Wake
Syracuse
Georgia Tech

Big 12: 3/10*
Kansas
Iowa State
Kansas State

B1G: 4/14
Maryland
Rutgers
Purdue
Nebraska

PAC: 2/12
Oregon State
Colorado

SEC: 2/14
Vanderbilt
South Carolina

*I should probably throw Texas in there, but I'm not quite ready to completely write them off at 3-5 with home games against Kansas and Tech and road games at Baylor and WVU.

Predarat 11-05-2015 03:14 PM

Cannot wait for Bama vs LesU, that game is always crazy.

Lol you are being a tard if you are saying that Michigan and Iowa are not good teams. Michigan lost to Utah at Utah by 7 points, Utah is not a garbage team, and they lost on a fluke play to MSU. I hate Michigan with all my being, but to say they aren't a good team is hilarious. Iowa is a good team also, I would agree if you said they weren't elite, but to say they aren't good? Lol, you are too much of a homer. The B12 die hard who is pumping up TCU as the best in the land when in reality they look as average as most everybody else. TCU barely beat Minnesota, who is one of the worst teams in the B10, barely beat Kansas State who is 3-4 and barely beat Texas Tech. I mean, you are preaching like you are on a pretty high horse when TCU is on a pony like the rest of most everybody else in the top 10. Don't get me wrong, I am not saying Ohio State is better, I am just saying your butt hurt and crying about anti-B12 stuff is getting old. Baylor and TCU have played nobody. Let the season shake out and see what happens. I cant wait to see what happens with Ohio State when we play MSU and then at TTUN, the cream will rise, and then hopefully we play an undefeated Iowa in the B10CG. If we lose along the way, so be it.

And Utah got their ass kicked by a shitty USC team. Michigan is not good.

Iowa is not good either.

The B1G has seen much better years. They are awful. Ohio state has looked like shit against very shitty teams.

The playoff committee has been consistent in being inconsistent in the standards that they use to judge the teams and having a big brand bias. I'm far from the only person who has made the accusations against them.

Does ksu have a shot tonight with the true freshman starting for Baylor?

Michigan's a dropped special teams snap away from being in the discussion for a playoff spot. Although I think that discussion would have ended when Ohio State pounds them to end the year. In any case, while I think they're still a season away - although what Harbaugh has done is pretty remarkable (anybody who knows me knows how difficult it is for me to say that) - I think they'd be competitive with just about anybody outside of maybe the teams currently in the playoff picture.

Plus, they have Boykin who is a sure fire NFL stud QB. Said no one ever/with the exception of KC native.

I think everyone on here knows I hate michigan, but I give credit where credit is due. Michigan is a good football team. I think they are a legit top 12 team. I think MSU and OSU are top 10 teams, but Michigan is back.I think MSU if their defense didn't lose so many players would be even better than they have been. Our secondary has gotten bit by the injury but too and we are paper thin, but that's football. Back to rankings, I think OSU with Barrett is a team that can be an arguable #1 team, with Cardale at QB, put us at 10-15 range. Barrett is made for our offense, I think Cardale suffered because our offense and his skill set doesn't mesh. We don't have the deep threat burner like Devin last year.

Don't get a trick play trying to get Charles Jones, a slow RB, coming across the field as a receiver. Makes no damn sense. If you're doing that, get it to Heath.

Bambi 11-05-2015 09:51 PM

BTW, Baylor and TCU both suck. Neither will be in the playoff and Oklahoma might beat them both.
