How on earth is no one talking about co-offensive Coordinators?

Chiefs announce Nagy and Chilly sharing duties. Chilly in booth Nagy on the field Reid assumes full play calling responsibilities. This seems a recipe for more miscommunication. They must have feared of losing Nagy.

Reid is the OC.

DaNewGuy 01-21-2016 11:17 PM

Childress reminds me of the BTK killer. Don't like this one bit

rabblerouser 01-21-2016 11:20 PM

No one's talking about it because nothing will really change.

Same as it ever was.

wazu 01-21-2016 11:20 PM

You'd think they'd want to put more in Smith's hands the way they talk. Instead they are growing the committee.

srvy 01-21-2016 11:37 PM

I just don't understand it at all especially after that 4th qtr cluster ****. Has this ever been done before I have never seen it.

Childress = run game coordinator
Nagy = passing game coordinator
I'm guessing neither of them has much role in playcalling. If they do, Nagy will not be that involved. Nothing unusual here. I'm guessing it works the same way it did when Childress worked for Reid years ago. Nagy's role will be in gameplanning, not playcalling.

Not supporting what's going on here. But I don't see this creating miscommunication issues.

RustShack 01-21-2016 11:52 PM

It's always been Reid's system and always will be. These two know his system inside and out. Most teams have a run game coordinator and passing game coordinator while just one is labeled "OC". Having your OC in the booth or on the sideline is often a debate... Now it's eliminated.

It's not the first time the Chiefs or other NFL teams have done this. Brush up on your football history.

History, hell - Haley and Sean Payton were co-coordinators under Parcells.

Chiefnj2 01-22-2016 07:57 AM

Reid will call the plays in the first quarter, Childress the second, Nagy the third and all three will stare blankly into space in the fourth quarter.

In the fourth quarter they take nominations for each play and hold a team-wide vote. Then huddle and discuss.

I think they all get on the mic at the same time and announce their own plays simultaneously into Smiths headset. This explains while he often has that dumbfounded look on his face as he looks to the sideline and inevitably uses a timeout.

Too many chefs for only one kitchen.

Also, two of the three chefs don't know how to keep time with our without a watch and the other chef was last the fry cook at a Denny's.

dannybcaitlyn 01-23-2016 04:40 PM

They should bring in Mike Pettine as co- d-coordinator . Sutton isn't getting younger.

Deberg_1990 01-23-2016 04:58 PM

Is Alex Smith still the QB?

Then nothing will change then. Team will still struggle to score Passing TDs.

11-5 though.

This ... because anyone paying attention thinks that Reid is the OC and that we have 2 assistant OCs just like before.

Pederson - assist OC
Chilly - assist OC

Nothing has changed other than Reid won't be giving Pederson more duties to get a HC gig.

We'll see if that means we abandon what little bit of the aggressive passing game we had this year.

20 passing TDs isn't a whole lot in today's game.

TambaBerry 01-23-2016 08:50 PM

Fire Reid and promote Nagy

tk13 01-23-2016 09:26 PM

Back when Vermeil was coach, Saunders was the the OC, but Mike Solari was the run game coordinator. So it can work if everyone does their job.

More uncalled for time outs and delay of game, for want of quicker play calling!:cuss:

I love Reid until important in-game decisions have to be made.

Mostly, the important stuff a HC does...

looking at the stats at NFL.com isn't the same as watching the games

Our offense was clearly better when the play calling was more aggressive. When Alex Smith was asked to do more, throw the ball down the field instead of sideways, our offense actually looked competent.

Andy Reid insisted on being cute, running everything behind the LoS is when our offense was at it's worst.
