Big fan of Leonte Carroo
|
Keep an eye on Dak Prescott as well. Nobody is mentioning him around here but the guy was an absolute winner and put up some amazing numbers during his career at Mississippi State. Both running and throwing. (Tied Brady's Orange Bowl completion record and set the Orange Bowl passing yards record.)

BTW Noah Spence is the best pass rusher in the draft.
|
Oh and I bet Spriggs looks awesome in one-on-ones. He's got great athleticism for a LT. Probably most natural pass protector outside the big two.

Lots of talent here. Game changer. Let's see if he can get any right on the Wonderlic. |
I love the rosters for this game, will be a must watch unlike the other bowls.
Here's some guys I'll be watching a little more intently than others: Braxton Miller - how will he perform as a receiver outside of the OSU system Jihad Ward, DE Illinois - interesting run stopper at DE with great size, want to see more of him against NFL calibur lineman Jordan Payton, WR UCLA - can he get separation against NFL calibur DBs Deiondre Hall, CB Northern Iowa - can he lock down NFL calibur receivers with huge jump in competition level Kenneth Dixon, RB Louisiana Tech - great looking runner but can he do it at a higher level Eric Murray, CB Minnesota - want to see if he can hold up against speedier NFL level receivers Leonte Carroo, WR Rutgers - is he fast enough to get any separation and is he smart enough to learn a few NFL plays in a week Nick Kwiatoski, ILB West Virginia - can he stop the run against NFL competition Joe Haeg, OT North Dakota State - can he hold the edge against NFL level ends Jason Spriggs, OT Indiana - how will he hold up against stronger NFL level ends Matt Ioannidis, DT Temple - does he have the strength to get push against NFL calibur lineman Aaron Burbridge, WR Michigan State - does he have the speed and agility to gain separation against NFL level DBs Deion Jones, ILB LSU - can he leverage against the run versus NFL calibur blockers Jake Coker, QB Alabama - can he make NFL throws and play outside of Alabama's system Antonio Morrison, ILB Florida - can he make plays against the run against NFL blockers and does he have enough speed for coverage Josh Forrest, ILB Kentucky - does he have the speed to play in the NFL and to cover TEs and RBs Connor McGovern, OG Missouri - can he handle NFL speed and does he have the movement skills needed |
Baby Gronk measures in at 6'2" 238 lbs
|
Quinton Jefferson 6'4" 289 lbs
This might be a good developmental guy for us. Had 21 TFL and 10.5 sacks including 6.5 sacks last year. needs to bulk up a bit though. |
Kevin Hogan with 10 1/4 inch hands. Wow
Dak Prescott with 9 7/8 |
Quote:

Wentz - 6'5 and 233 lbs with 10 inch hands. He's going top 20.

Clarification: Drafting Wentz would be a very Brown thing to do.
|
It's looking like DL will be the strength at our pick.
Austin Johnson, Jonathan Bullard, Sheldon Rankins and Kenny Clark will be selected around or after 28. Gotta wonder if Dorsey keeps up his plan of drafting the position that is a the major FA the following year for insurance. |
Bullard is the type of player New England grabs at the end of rd 1.

Deiondre Hall.. CB UNI. 6'2 with a 6'11 wingspan. Played corner, and due to injury filled in at safety. I can see Dorsey drooling over that guy. He also went to Blue Springs

Braxton miller in the 2nd round to kc.
Mark it down |

Why don't scouts like Kevin Hogan? He checks the boxes for height, weight, hands.
He is very smart and Shaw loved him. And he's a winner. Rose Bowl 2X including the year after Luck left (can you imagine the pressure of taking over for that guy?). Yes he has a weird throwing motion, but so did Rivers. I don't get it |
He's not very accurate. Rivers has a weird throwing motion but that's the exception, not the rule.
|
I'm of the opinion that like we did last year with peters, we need to continue to do what the pats, steelers, etc have done drafting at the end of the first have for years. Take good football players that drop for whatever reasons and put them into our system.
Right now, I'd be hoping Jaylon Smith's medical scare some teams and he drops right into our laps. |

He's obviously raw, but damn, Sheppard or miller in round 2/3 sounds pretty enticing |
Quote:
I really think that Shepard is this year's Lockett |
insider Tony Pauline, Ohio State WR Braxton Miller's Senior Bowl performance has "moved (Miller) into the early part of round two."
Pauline believes Miller entered the event as a third-round prospect, but his stock has risen in Mobile. Miller measured 6-foot-1 3/8 and 204 pounds earlier in the week. Although he impressed in his transition from quarterback to wide receiver late in his college career, Miller managed a 26-341-3 receiving line as a fifth-year senior and will turn 24 years old this May. |

Browns should hope that another team doesn't move up to #1 and grab Wentz. |

I had to work so I didn't get to watch the game. I saw that Dak Prescott got game MVP.
Anyone? |

I watched a little bit, but haven't had time to keep up on who to focus on, so it didn't grasp my attention a whole lot. |
Quote:
1. Noah Spence is the best pass rusher in this draft. If he falls to us we have to take him. 2. Shawn Oakman had a pretty good game showing off his strength with a couple of nice bull rushes. 3. Braxton Miller was a little disappointing, but that might've been a blessing in disguise for a team like us hoping to get him in the 2nd. 4. Dak Prescott looked pretty good, and would be a great fit with Reid. 5. Jason Spriggs is a Fisher clone. Dominated all week, but will clearly need some time to get stronger and he'll struggle in that area early on. One of the guys Oakman beat with a bull rush. |
I don't see how a guy who struggles with accuracy from a spread system fits what Reid wants, but he wouldn't start right away so maybe that could be cleaned up.
The guys who have gotten around accuracy issues are pretty far and few between though. |
Just got through the first quarter.
Wasn't overly impressed with Wentz. Made strong, accurate throws and he wasn't getting much help from his surrounding cast, but I guess after hearing all the praise about the guy I was expecting more chicken salad. Aaron Green (RB TCU) flashed on his few touches to me. He had the first TD and if you disect the entire run, you see some real talent there. Shows solid speed/balance and very good vision. I'm going to keep an eye on him going forward. Braxton Miller seems like he was just trying to do too much. He'll reclaim his name at the combine after this weak performance. Coker is maybe a backup QB. Maybe. Spence is the best pass rusher, but the little ND long haired defensive end has shown up a few times. Oakman is going to be the guy who is a huge disappointment for whoever picks him up, but will have a big day against some of the worst tackles in the league every year and will let his career ride off of that. The MLBs from Kentucky and Temple have shown up the most to me, just don't think they will be much in the pros. Just don't have the talent once they have to face the big boys. But they have the instincts. Jones from LSU is probably the only one I'd want so far. |

I agree on your observations about Wentz and about Green. Wentz is just is not the type to take your team to the next level. Do you want to draft an Andy Dalton/Ryan Tannehill type in the top 5? Green is one of those guys that if you get him the ball in space good things are going to happen, and he can make some moves at the LOS too. |
So many Notre Dame players that I would draft this year. There is no way that I come out of this draft without looking like a huge homer.

I'm wondering if Dorsey will look at this DL class and go for one in Rd 2 or 3 while getting a WR or OL Rd 1?
I have a bad feeling OT will be the pick at 28 bc FA doesn't appear to have anyone we can afford and the draft falls off a cliff for the position after the top 50. |
Quote:
|
I don't think I'd be that upset with a tackle in the first round, if it's a guy that can swing over and play LT as well. I'd rather get a vet rt but cost wise it may be tough.
|
It all depends on Howard and Smith. If we can't get either one of those guys to come back....then I say we sign a RT in FA and go WR/DL in the 1st. CB on the 2nd day along with a QB.
|
I think you can find a good solid corner in free agency or already on the roster.
Same with the rt, really. I don't know if you can with the wr spot though. |
Quote:
Stanley is probably the most overrated. Not that he's bad, but I don't see a top 10 player IMO. |
Quote:
Agree on Prosise. Here's my top 10 RB rankings for the draft: 1. Ezekiel Elliott - Ohio State 2. Alex Collins - Arkansas 3. Kenneth Dixon - Louisiana Tech 4. CJ Prosise - Notre Dame 5. Aaron Green - Texas Christian 6. Kenyan Drake - Alabama 7. Kelvin Taylor - Florida 8. Jonathan Williams - Arkansas 9. Derrick Henry - Alabama 10. Josh Ferguson - Illinois Honorable Mentions: Jordan Howard - Indiana Paul Perkins - UCLA |
Quote:
|
Not sure if you've gotten to watch Travis Greene from Bowling Green at all, but he can play, too. Good tackle breaker, fast, and agile... just misses the best hole sometimes.
|
Quote:
By the way, want to add that if Kenyan Drake would have stayed healthy at 'Bama, Henry never touches a Heisman (that McCaffrey deserved anyhow). |

I had him ranked 6th. Note to self, don't copy and paste from Excel when you forget to paste things back into Excel. I still can't believe I did that. I love Booker hahahaha. Here's the correction with my round ratings. 1. Ezekiel Elliott - Ohio State (Rd 1) 2. Alex Collins - Arkansas (Rd 2) 3. Kenneth Dixon - Louisiana Tech (Rd 2) 4. CJ Prosise - Notre Dame (Rd 2) 5. Aaron Green - Texas Christian (Rd 3) 6. Devontae Booker - Utah (Rd 3) 7. Kenyan Drake - Alabama (Rd 3) 8. Kelvin Taylor - Florida (Rd 3) 9. Jonathan Williams - Arkansas (Rd 4) 10. Derrick Henry - Alabama (Rd 4) Honorable Mentions: Josh Ferguson - Illinois (Rd 4) Jordan Howard - Indiana (Rd 5) Paul Perkins - UCLA (Rd 5) |
And there's Dorsey's OT. Le'Raven Clark. 36 inch Arms...THIRTY SIX. The average is usually 33-34.
10 7/8 inch hands? Goddamn. He has elite footwork as well and solid functional strength. He's a smart football guy too. Yup this is our first round pick if we can't find someone in FA. He's already got a 2nd round grade. He's moving up the board soon. |
Quote:
|
I wouldn't take him in the 2nd.
If you are looking for the most talented physical monster in the second, I'd take Vadal Alexander. I think he can stay at tackle and doesn't have to move back in to guard. |
