Can Weddle replace Berry?
Weddle had a down season playing on a horrendous San Diego defensive roster but the man is a proven product and is hungry for a title. Berry on the other hand seems to be $$ driven and is showing no signs of giving us a home team discount with the rumors going around the NFL. I find that disappointing given how the organization stood by him during his illness. Despite being 'comeback player of the year' his game footage was actually quite mediocre with only 55 tackles, poor coverage of tight ends, and oftentimes late to help corners on deep routes.
For 2 years, $12 million...I can't help but think that Weddle would be a great fit in this defense* and gives us adequate time to draft a long term replacement. This also gives us the ability to retain Howard and spend money on either Sean Smith or a free agent corner/linebacker. Weddle, Poe, Howard, Houston, Peters would be a helluva lineup! |
WTF is this shit?

A non-homer take on the state of the Chiefs.

Yeah, I've always liked Weddle. The price would be the factor. Reasonable price? Bring him in for a look...

Berry is no where on the level of Earl Thomas. Maybe in his prime. And if last season is his idea of a "contract year" level performance, I can only fear what sub-par performance he would put up just to stay healthy and collect checks. He also benefits HEAVILY from an excellent pass rush and good corners.
Weddle is in on the play every. single. down. The guy since college has been an absolute leader for his team and loves to tackle. I want to see us give Weddle his desire to beat the **** out of his former team. |

How did that fare for you? We all know you are a clay mult... |

Justin Houston Jamaal Charles Derrick Johnson Eric Berry The list goes on and on. Your opinions are never anything more than finding ways the Chiefs can save money by replacing their best players with shittier players when they don't need to make such a move. That's all you've ever ****ing done on here. |
Weddle is a great player, but not on the level of Berry.
I'd love to have both of them, though. |

Remember when you were going to leave forever if Houston re-signed with the Chiefs, Bob?

I'll say no.

I don't ever remember having a conversation with TigerUppercut about Dwayne Bowe, ****face. But I DO remember many conversations with the entity known as Bob. |
Well on a night of terrible thread ideas, this may be the winner. Congratulations.

I bet 90% of the people here don't even know who Reshad Jones is. This is someone who actually deserves 10mil/year |
Berry is better and younger than Weddle.
The $3-4m per year we might save by switching to Weddle wouldn't be worth it. |
I'm getting damn good and tired of no one being who they are around here.

If they were the same age, you might have an argument. Weddle was, and still is, a very good player. However, at 31 at a safety position in the current NFL, the small amount you save with him over a guy like Berry is not relevant. Now, the main problem is that Berry's health concern has to be a long term approach and the entire rest of the safety position players are free agents as well. Abdullah's concussion problem is very real. Sorensen should be a relatively inexpensive resign, but they need to find a legit talent in this upcoming draft at the position as well. Miles Killebrew in the second round wouldn't be a surprise and if he tests as good as he can at the combine, he might even move up into first round consideration. Quote:

Didn't Weddle make 10 Mil the past 2 seasons..why would he come to KC and play for 6 Mil
What has Berry done to seem money hungry..what has he done to not deserve to be paid as a top Safety Why is this even a thread |

You can't objectively look at Jamaal Charles or Eric Berry (as well as other Chiefs players). Blackblob is a moron that should have been banned by now but you failed to answer his question. BTW, Weddle is a 2x time All Pro player and a 3x All Pro second teamer. He's no slouch. |

And for those who don'tknow the rumors circulating.. Atlanta is a top candidate in the running for Berry. Home town, lots of salary cap space, and home of Emory medical center... That's right, the place he got treated for his lymphoma

Can Weddle replace Berry?
Quote:
You are seriously a ****ing dumbass. I absolutely did answer the question. In his last two 16-game seasons, Berry's been named All-Pro. He's an elite safety. Elite safeties deserve elite safety contracts. I don't give two damns about what Weddle has done. He's ****ing 52 years old. Berry is like 26. When you're talking about likely a $3-4 million difference in contracts per year, this is a no-brained. Kill yourself, you ****ing slut. |

I've met Planeteers in person who have also met Clay. I joined this forum before Clay did. And the only time I troll is to **** with n00bs. But Blackbob says I'm Clay. Meanwhile, he talks about previous conversations he's had from years ago before TigerUppercut's join date, and even brought up more Atlanta "inside info". TigerUppercut is Bob. Death. Taxes. |
