Truck is done.

Single vehicle accident on Saturday. Totaled my 2005 Dodge Ram 1500. Not injured. Only had 69,000 miles on it. Need advice from Planeteers on new 1/4 ton truck . Already tried spraying truck with anti-freeze, but it didn't help.
Flame away .

BlackHelicopters 03-29-2016 07:41 AM

Advice is appreciated. Thanks.

Mr_Tomahawk 03-29-2016 07:44 AM

Did you not like the Dodge...?

Edit: Sorry for your loss.

Yeesh...I would stick with the Dodge if you loved it. I am still looking for that vehicle "I love"...

jd1020 03-29-2016 07:55 AM

Personally if I was looking for a smaller fullsize I'd just get a new Colorado or Tacoma, unless you really need to extra width in the bed.

Rain Man 03-29-2016 08:02 AM

You may have to go with a car. BMW doesn't make a truck.

Congrats on surviving the wreck, by the way.

Whatever I decide on, it will definitely be Apricot in color.

kepp 03-29-2016 08:33 AM

Tacoma. Although the new Colorados look nice.

Well, it is military-grade aluminum.

Well, there you go. If it's good enough for the military, it's good enough for me. LMAO

Good looking trucks, though.

I have a Tacoma. Love it. I had an F150 several years ago. It was also a great truck

Me too. Rides better than the chev or ford. Better springs in the back.

get the full size doors-they open wide. almost 90 degrees. Plenty of room for my 5'11" daughter. The short doors did not in either the chev or Ram.

remember-there are trucks, then there are SUV's that people call trucks

Mine is the Ram at the bottom

i dont think any truck has a better ride than the 2015-2016 silverados.

and ive put miles on all of them

Buehler445 03-29-2016 11:00 AM

Tough to give advice without a budget, what you're looking for, etc.

Last Feb I picked up a 2010 GMC Sierra Crew Cab with 19K miles for a touch under 30. It wasn't Denali, but it had everything else. I'm damn happy with it and I didn't pay 60 for it.

If you're looking newer, my buddy has a Silverado 3/4 ton, that other than being 45 feet tall and 50 feet long is a nice rig.

Contractor I know runs Dodge, and he was having trouble with the Eco Diesel. He got out of it and bought a Power Wagon similar to this:

http://hoytedodgeramchryslerjeep.com...oyte-Dodge.png

It looks gayer than cum on a moustache.

Guys around say the new Fords are good, but I don't know anyone that has one. There aren't many in this part of the world.

Don't hit a deer. Out in no man's land, we have to send it 5 hours to wichita for any body repair.

Get a crew cab. I think they're the same. It's just the extended cab that has the little doors. Could be wrong though.

Me too. When I bought my Tundra, I insisted on the crew max cab.

ToxSocks 03-29-2016 11:06 AM

From what i've seen from my friend's trucks....buy another Dodge.

Those F150's turn into rattle cans. F150 should be last on your list IMO.

That's a topic we've talked about in the shop. We all think that an aluminum body is an awful idea in the event of an accident due to the cost and complexity of repairing it.

Just like anythign else, when it breaks, get a new one.

It kind of sucks.

"Buy these new dental xray sensors, digital, awesome, only 6000. Then when a pt goes full alligator chomp on the cord and breaks it, we won't fix it and you can buy the new better version. Only 6500"

Marcellus 03-29-2016 12:01 PM

My brother recently purchase a new Colorado Crew Cab 4x4 Longbed. 315HP V6.

The 6 ft bed actually looks good on it and it's actually longer than my Sierra 1500 Crew Cab's bed.

Nice looking midsize truck.

el borracho 03-29-2016 12:23 PM

I like my 2003 F150 pretty well. Whatever model you get, I would strongly suggest getting 4x4. Pickups don't do well on even light ice/snow without 4x4.

kccrow 03-29-2016 12:38 PM

I'd go with a new GMC Sierra or Chevy Silverado, but that's mostly because I prefer a truck that actually rides good on the highway.

I ran my wife over in a Dodge.

Insert my quickly written country music lyrics:

When we met she was skinny and tight
We'd make sweet love every single night.
There was no question when I asked her to be mine
She said I do and stepped to the buffet line.

Now if you're gonna be sexy to land your man
You owe him that much when he takes your hand
She disagreed and became a bitter podge,
I fought back and ran her over in my dodge.

Yes I ran her over in my sweet little doge.

End poorly written quick country music lyrics.

Sorry to hear about your wreck. I was hoping this thread was going to lead me to a custom built truck I could rep you for, but alas....
