good pick.. Murray, Bray, and Hogan will battle it out. No real favorites.. may the best man win QB2.

He's a 5th rounder.

If he ends up being a backup, the Chiefs did well.

He could be your #2QB for years. Solid back up QB who fits the classic Parcells rules for drafting QB's.

As I've mentioned several times, Philly and the Packers drafted late QB's like Brunell, Brooks, Feely, etc. then flipped them for high picks.

It's the smart play.

Mean while Alex Smith averages 6.7 yards per attempt.

If you end up being able to draft a young star QBOTF after Smith is gone then it will be nice to have a good back up established in the system for the team to lean on at first. By the time you need him Hogan could very well be that guy.

It's not about him being better. It is simply "the way". Pick 'em late, hope for upside, and let the low men battle it out.

Who knows, you might get a starter and avoid bringing in the next "established vet"!

Not to toot my own horn again but I've been big on this pick for the last week. He will develop pretty well under Smith and Reid. Deadly accurate in the short-immediate passes which fits well in our version of the west coast offense. Terrible, terrible passer in the long passes.

Low risk, medium reward.

The Chiefs should take a QB EVERY YEAR. That's the same policy that the Green Bay Packers and Eagles did for decades, in which they developed and flipped those guys for higher picks.

Hasselbeck, Brunell, Brooks, Feely, etc. and so on.

Now, you should stop acting like an asshole.

So you really think will keep all 4 on the roster when the season starts.

bray was just picked in the 6th round of the insurance draft by state farm...

They'll keep three for sure, with either Hogan or Bray on the Practice Squad, unless Bray doesn't a show a thing and is cut altogether.

Dorsey has proven each year that he's been in KC that he's constantly trying to upgrade every position, whether it's O-line, D-line, secondary, running back, WR and even QB by bringing competition for every position and not standing pat.

That's the way to build a consistent championship roster.

The only way to flip them for picks is if they are on the roster to flip them.

I just think the chances of it happening are very slim either way.

And if Bray is beaten out by Hogan, a rookie, after spending the last three seasons with the Chiefs, then he has no value.

I do agree. I would have rather had another OL pick . We need all the talent there we can get.

Except for the fact that Andy Reid and the Green Bay Packers, who previously employed John Dorsey, did this time and time and time again.

Whatever. Beats the living shit out of the Pioli years when we had Cassel and Palko on the roster and didn't take any QBs.

I'm not saying they haven't don't it, I'm saying the odds of it happening are pretty slim.

Don't really see any difference between signing broke dicks like Palko or Quinn and taking a last day flier on guys with pretty much zero upside in Bray, Murray and Hogan.. And yeah, I know Bray was UDFA. No real difference outside of cap money between an UDFA and 4th-7th rounder.

It may not be any different. But a late round dice roll every year has a better chance than just living with pure suck. And I'm pretty sure every single QB on our roster is better than Palko. That mother****er made Matt Cassel look good.

I still don't see the major fuss over this. It's a 5th round pick and no team hits on every pick. People bitch about the Chiefs not taking a QB in the 1st. Fine. But they still at least attempt to improve the position by bringing in a new guy every year.

Look at the Cowboys. They played Weeden, Cassel, and Moore after Romo went down. All 3 were shit and of the 3, only Moore didn't have any experience playing in the regular season. Their season went to shit because they had shit, garbage, and flaming shit behind Romo. If Smith went down with a playoff roster around him, would you want the team's window of competing for a SB to be wasted because of their being 0 depth behind him?

It's a flyer on a late round QB. Not really CP train wreck material

I think Hogan is the guy you build to be the #2 and Murray is a guy you either start eventually or move.
