I'd be pissed if I got taken in the late 7th. Think I'd want a nice bonus as a priority UDFA instead. :)

I'm hoping they bring in Kyle Peko as a developmental DE.

Sandy Vagina 04-30-2016 05:09 PM

so if that link is accurate, WR Mitch Mathews signed. 6' 6" with a 36" vertical.

Quote:

More than just a big tall WR, Mathews has good body control and hand eye coordination. He can tap his toes in bounds while falling backwards or adjust to poorly thrown balls and makes improbable catches even when the defender has better position. You don’t see a lot of guys who are this big and this fluid in one package.

Mathews was a special teams gunner at BYU. He used his sub 4.5 speed to race down the field and make plays in kick coverage. He also showed the ability to use his length and body control in keeping the ball from bouncing into the end zone, resulting in a touchback. Special team ability adds significant value.

jonzie04 04-30-2016 05:11 PM

Matthews seems pretty interesting saw he ran 6.99 3 cone. Thats pretty quick for a guy that tall.

At Hawaii he played center during his first two seasons then at left tackle for his last two years. An ‘iron man’ player, Clarke started every game of his college career. He was named his team’s MVP in 2015.

Clarke is list as 6-foot-2.5, 305 pounds. In 2015, he was named Hawaii’s MVP and was an honorable mention All-Mountain West Conference selection all four years with the team. Named to the academic All-Mountain West team, Clarke majored in biology.

According to NFLDraftScout.com, Clarke’s best run of the 40-yard dash was 5.10 seconds. At Hawaii’s Pro Day on March 22, he did 19 reps of 225 pounds. He made a 30-inch vertical jump and an 8-foot-8 broad jump. In spite of a hamstring injury, he ran a 4.95-second 20-yard shuttle run and an 8.03-second three-cone drill.

Quote:

Former University of Hawaii football player Ben Clarke has signed a free-agent contract with the Kansas City Chiefs.

“Out of everyone, I thought they showed the most interest,” said Clarke, who also received pre-draft inquiries from the Denver Broncos and Houston Texans. “I’m excited about it.”

Clarke said he spent the day watching most of the NFL draft with his family.

“I kind of thought I wasn’t going to get drafted so it wasn’t that big of a deal,” Clark said of not being selected.

Clarke played center for two years with UH before shifting to left tackle for the final two years of his college career. He is projected to play center or guard with the Chiefs.

The Chiefs showed extra attention to Clarke during last month’s pro day in Azusa, Calif. The Kansas City coach requested that Clarke snap the football in field drills instead of serving as a tackle.

Me too. I'm afraid parts of him are going to get snapped in two like a twig unless he puts some muscle on.

DaneMcCloud 04-30-2016 06:10 PM

I don't think this will be like previous years where the Chiefs brought a dozen or two UDFA's.

There just aren't enough available roster spots.

KCrockaholic 04-30-2016 06:14 PM

Would be nice to add Casey Martin as well. Quick quick footwork and routes. sets up routes well on breaks and gets open. Yes, another great white hope. But he's talented.

well, who besides Maclin, Conley, and Wilson are the set pieces at WR (I realize that DAT is still here but who's counting on him at this point?)? Every other spot is a toss-up so he has a chance to land 1 of 3 remaining roster spots at the position.

He has to beat all of these guys

Da'Ron Brown
Chris Conley
Kenny Cook
Frankie Hammond Jr
Tyreek Hill
Jeremy Maclin
Kashif Moore
Demarcus Robinson
Rod Streater
De'Anthony Thomas
Mike Williams
Fred Williams
Albert Wilson

You have to figure if the two veterans have anything left in the tank they can beat everyone on that list that's not named Maclin. The UDFA would also have to beat out the two actual guys we spent draft picks on. And you can't forget everyones favorite Fred Williams, he would have to outshine him in preseason.

Sure, but compare the situation here with other teams across the league. The majority of them have WR cores that are either more established or filled with more highly touted players/highly drafted guys who are still being given time to show their goods. Here the only two WRs who have really been an investment for the Chiefs are Maclin and Conley while Wilson has established himself as a solid contributor/developmental piece.

ILB. He's a long, athletic, rangy kid. One of those S/LB hybrids.

His first cousin is DeAndre Hopkins.

Just met him last week, but he's a great kid. Excited about us getting him.

I agre, but at worst with the current roster and Reid's bias against playing guys who are fresh to the NFL and don't show an advanced understanding of his system, Wilson will be the #3/4 guy this year.

ROFL You're ****ing hilarious man.

RealSNR 04-30-2016 07:05 PM

I really can't believe he went undrafted, though. Look at any highlight video of him from college and how can you not be willing to spend at least a late round pick on that kind of player?

It's totally why I took him for the Packers in the CP Mock. He's actually got the chance to start at ILB in the NFL and also play multiple positions, unlike Matekevich, Wright, and a bunch of those other one-dimensional try-hard 2-down clowns that got drafted. And that's IF they ever graduate beyond pure special teams drone in this league.

Smith could totally crack the 53 this year and challenge for playing time on defense.

NIUhuskies 04-30-2016 07:06 PM

Michigan Tech DT Tanner Agen signed with #Chiefs. 6'2, 300. 40 bench reps at @TheDreamBowl. Awesome workout numbers: optimumscouting.com/draft/2016-nfl…

Agreed. I thought he'd go a round later than his former teammate Telvin Smith (Jags 5th rounder in '14). He's turned out to be a steal. Very similar players, but Telvin's a little better.

You've got 90 roster spots available and these guys are basically free fliers on talent. What the hell are the Chiefs doing. It's negligence to bring in no one.

The Broncos just won the Super Bowl and they brought in a DOZEN.
