Should I Buy a PS4 this weekend?

now that I'm healing up and the motorcycle is toast and it's likely another won't be in my garage until early spring '17....I'm going to be bored.

I've had a PS3 since, jesus, probably 2008-ish. No issues with it, but I've been wanting to upgrade for a while. Is the PS4 that much better? I honestly have no idea. I don't do alot of online gaming at all, mostly just sports and driving games and the occasional Last of Us type games.


I'm driving my wife crazy with my boredom, so should I just say **** it and go get one this weekend? or, put the money I would spend on a PS4 into a CP run FanDuel account?

When you win millions in fan duel....you can buy as many PS4s as you want.

The PS4 is a pretty capable console. It has a decent library and anything from AAA titles like uncharted, to a treasure trove of indies. Really the negatives I would say is the controllers build quality and battery life. If you are patient, there is usually great deals during the holidays, or you want wait for the PS4.5(Neo) which is out next year.

Maybe wait for the Neo?

I"m so out of the loop, I don't even know what the Neo is.

PS4 is good. I have it and an Xbox360 and Xbox One. PS4 gets all the attention. GTA is loads of fun, also try War Thunder. Free to play tanks and planes from biplanes up to WW2 jets. Diablo is a great waste of time. MLB The Show is badass this year on it. Yea. Do it.

It's a free download and you don't need the online membership to play.

PS4 Neo is going to be a beefed up version of the current system. Supposedly it will be much more powerful but classified as current gen. It will play all existing games and future games will have different graphics settings based on the system you're playing them on.

May be worth a wait. If anything else, I'm sure the regular PS4s will go down in price.

Current speculation is that the official reveal will take place in about a month.

My xbox 360 still looks fine compared to my Xbox one. If you are board do it man. Also the new Tropico is loads of fun.

I'll probably say **** it and just do it. Otherwise I'll waffle for months on end lol.

I need to review the PS4 thread at some point and get in the loop as to what's out there in terms of games etc. I'm well behind the 8-ball in that regard.

Get a PS4 if you're set on a console and really just want one to relieve your boredom at home.

Find a bundle with whatever game you fancy. It saves you money and you will end up with twice the memory than if you ran out and bought a basic deal.

I did the PS4 Destiny and Xbox One Forza. Both came with twice the memory as a basic and different color combos.

I bought my cousin the PS4 Starwars edition for Xmas. It has Darth Vadors helmet on the case. It's badass.

As far as consoles go, PS4 is the better of the two options.

You can get a pretty good PC for a couple hundred more though. I'm a console guy, always have been. Got my first Atari at 7. However, PC gaming is starting to really get good. You can get 99% of what's on the market for consoles plus a shit ton of non-console games. M

That being said, yeah. Ps4 is a damn good option. It is worth the $.

The new ps4 is coming out in October with a much better graphics card.

You can add a HD with xbox one easier if you just want to be a nerd.

Once they announce the new ps4 they might have a fire sale on the current one, so I personally am gonna wait for that to happen.

If you're just a casual gamer I wouldn't recommend getting the Neo but, as someone already mentioned, they may have some nice sales on the original when that one drops.

From what I have read the regular PS4 will still be around when the Neo comes out with more power and some 4K stuff with a higher price tag. All PS$ games reportedly will work work with both with some added graphics for better capabilities of the Neo. If you have the itch now might as well go for it now.

Picked up a PS4 yester day at Costco. 500gb for $325, and I had a $25 off coupon for anything over 250. So $300 even. Went to game stop to pick up a few used games. Got MLB the Show 16 for $15, NBA 2k16 for $9 and some game called Sniper Elite for $5.

Basketball game looks amazing. Though, I don't know dick about basketball, so it's hard for me to play at the moment. Haven't tried the other two games yet.

2k16 was a free download a couple months ago. I was really into the create-a-player mode until Smite got its hooks in me.

War Thunder is very fun. I love Air Sims and WWII and I don't play much video games, but I put in lots of hours this weekend.

NBA game is tough. You have to run an offense and shit even on the easier levels. MLB the show is fun especially all the game modes.

Unless you've got a 4K TV and a real boner for 4k content that doesn't exist yet there's no reason to wait on a PS4.

Oh, and there's a new version of Destiny that should be out soon that includes all the prior content plus the new expansion for $60. That's the only waiting that I would do.

War Thunder is a blast. I have all the planes for Germans and Americans, been playing for a couple years. MLB the show is what I have been playing the most though. Diamond Dynasty is a blast. Pretty much the madden MUT card game online, but way better.

NEO is built to support 4K and VR .. There's no need to be juried about improve in graphics until next ten is pumped out

I highly doubt with those specs it can do 4k.

It will help with the vr tho.

I have been having loads of fun playing the retro stuff - see my post in the basic video games thread - I did pickup a PS4 at the start of the year - I haven't touched it in over a month - when I have time to game I just don't have the time to get into something so involved.

I have been playing a lot of Soldner X2 on my vita - but that is on PS3 as well

I love my PS4 and I've killed over 20,000 zombies in Dying Light that's a hell of a game. Your butt cheeks pucker up when it gets dark and the Volitiles "come out to play"

Wait until the holidays when there is a sale. With a purchase as big as the Ps4 you can save yourself a decent amount of money.

I tried that War Thunder free download. Pretty fun little game.
haven't got much into it, but it's fun for an hour or so of decompression time after work. my brain wasn't hip to the idea of concentrating too hard on Madden, and I had forgot that I downloaded this. I'm not very good at it, but it's definitely fun.

Can't wait til Ace Combat 7 comes out.

Depending on what he is buying you can get a free ps4 or xone with tv purchase.

If anyone wants to buy a used PS4 when the new one comes out, let me know. I will probably give mine up for a good price so I can upgrade.
