iPhone 7. No headphone jack.

They say all phones are gonna lose them next model

Its annoying that we won't be able to use it as an auxiliary and charge it at the same time. Or that's what I'm assuming. My car right now doesn't have Bluetooth, but I should be upgrading this fall and that should solve that.

Meh. The adapter dingus is small, can just live on the end of my headphones, and is free with the phone. seems like a reasonable compromise for the thing to be waterproof.
We'll see long term though. We are talking about what's perhaps the single most universal electrical interface in the world. Even power plugs vary by region. |
This seems more anti-consumer than anything. Interfacing your headphones wirelessly gives the companies more control. So instead of analog to listen to whatever music you happen to have, DRM can dictate whether to send the signal to the earphones or not. I see no upside to this, and phones have been waterproofed before and could still have a headphone jack.
|
I doubt this is the death of the iPhone, but I won't buy another one until they put the headphone jack back in. Over 75% of my iPhone use is that headphone jack.

Did they make the charger cord thicker.

dont drop them anywhere tho. you may pick up a tick tack, and someone else got a free earpiece.
|
I already use Bluetooth headphones with my iPhone 6s.
The most annoying thing is that the charge only lasts about 3-4 hours or so. |

......... So to those who want "GOOD" Audio quality through AUX can go **** themselves.. Gotcha

Even ignoring that, I'd probably have to have 4 dongles lying around for home, work, car, and backpack. (I have a set of earbuds in 3 of those places and an AUX jack in the other.) |

Do these new $159.00 wireless headphones by Apple use Bluetooth, or some proprietary Apple wireless technology?

I don't give a damn either way, but how is it more water resistant if it still has a charging jack? One hole vs two holes, the boat may fill up slower, but it's still going to get wet inside.

Doesn't it make the earbuds heavier. Going to be annoying for many.
How often are people going to lose them? added battery drain because of wireless |
Quote:
And they are really cutting into their Beats business. Those will all need to go wireless. |
I think it's a great vision and it will probably end up working out ok, but for me, battery life and losing pricey earbuds are big concerns.

"When the headphone jack was removed, Apple realized it was easier to install the new Taptic Engine for the pressure-sensitive Home button, implement a bigger battery, and reach an IP7 water resistance rating, so the elimination of the headphone jack became essential for all of the other features in the iPhone 7. " |

If they wanted a bigger battery, why not just let the phone be a little thicker? It's so thin that the camera has to stick out from the back (again, other phones have the same issue). Battery is my #1 biggest complaint about smartphones, and I'd LOVE for someone to just make a phone that is a tiny bit thicker but has solid battery life. I can't speak to the impact of a pressure-sensitive button I guess. Seems like it's not so big of a feature that it would trump "compatible with the most ubiquitous plug in existence," but I guess time will tell how useful it is. |
iPhone 7 new advertising slogan translates to "This is penis" in Cantonese.

Doesn't bother me at all, and I use headphones everyday. I've never charged it and used the Jack at the same time, but I'm sure there will quickly be a small splinter adapter for the people who for whatever reason need to do that.
I remember the outrage of switching to the Lightning adapter... Seems fine now. |

I love the iPhone SE. I thought the iPhone 5 was the perfect size for me. Easy to use with one hand without having to stretch up and over, or use that stupid double tap home button thing that seems to **** up a ton of apps. |
Quote:
This. I just do not get the craze for mini tablets. If I want or need a bigger screen I'll grab my iPad. A mobile phone should only require one hand to use. |

I rarely used my iPhone 5 because it was too tedious. I frequently zoom in to read things and select links (or I'm using a bigger font which limits how many words are on a tiny screen). The iPhone 6+ gets used way more. The limiting factor for me is how big of device can reasonably fit into a casual pair of slacks. Some of the mini tablets are almost viable. So something just a bit smaller than a mini tablet that is still set up to be a phone... If they would make pockets just a little bit larger, something mini tablet sized would be great. I use my phone two handed and I rarely use it while walking, so I realize I'm not the typical target audience. |
