Was Sean Smith benched today by the Raiders?
I'm reading it all over the internet. He gave up a 98 yard TD, and was benched in the 2nd half. Can anyone confirm?
|
Yeah, he got torched by Brees quite a bit. Saints are good on offense though
|
I've seen it all over also
|
I saw the play and he got burnt by a speedy Cooks. Dumb move to put Smith on him
|
He was average, at best in Miami. The guy is dumb as rocks. He should be sending half his paychecks to Sutton for making him look good
|
Big shock
Wheels fall off at 29 |
He fit our scheme perfectly, but might not be the best fit in Oakland.
|
Put a 6'2" CB on a 5'10" WR and you're likely to have problems. Oakland had him pressing the line but never jamming Cooks. Not smart football.

Cooks turned him into burnt toast.
I'm happy with Gaines. Nelson also looked solid today. The secondary was actually the best part of the defense today. |
Apparently he's not as good now that he got paid. Chiefs played that one perfectly making him work for that money

he got torched all preseason
|
He always seemed to get burnt pretty hard early on the year before settling down into his role.

That will make me chuckle if that happens all year.

i admit i took great joy watching him get torched by my fantasy wr brandon cooks on that td.
he is very very good at what he does, but running up the sideline with a speedy receiver is NOT what he does well. |
It is early, but Dorsey looking right again with his roster evaluations. For the money Smith garnered, it was wise to let him walk. Fisher is in the fold longterm now, and Dorsey diplomatically is challenging Poe and Berry to show the goods if they want to be Chiefs mainstays.....
|
and Maclin or Conley will burn him too if I had to bet....

So far it's working out in our favor. |

The animated cartoon wasn't bad, either. I'm not some weirdo who whacks it to Danny Elfman every time he comes up with something new, but the guy is pretty damn talented.

told you Sean Smith needs good over the top safety help to be decent. He was bailed out many times by Parker and Berry's range.
Raiders do not have good safeties lol. Looks like the Reggie Nelson+Sean Smith combo is a bust in the making, two fools gold players that benefited from two of the better front 7 rosters in the league. |
CP / All off season we're worried about our secondary because of the loss of Sean Smith
Week 1 / Dorsey is a genious for letting Smith go. Smith sux and can't keep up with a speedy receiver. ROFL |
Sean "overrated" Smith:
Correct assessment then, correct assessment now. Thank you, and have a nice Monday. |
JDR said his head was not in the game and benched him for the rest of the day after the 98 yard torch ... He won't be benched long
|
I'm going to admit, I felt that failing to re-sign Sean Smith was going to bite us in the ass.
Andy Reid, though, I failed to account for. He had this talent in Philadelphia, too. Knowing exactly when to release players. Of all the players the Chiefs have let walk on Reid's watch, who hasn't busted? Brandon Albert, who has struggled with his health. |

He had a big stop on 3rd down as well and I'm pretty sure he's just a rotational guy for them at this point. |
Four times, I hear.

This is what happens when you go out and poach other teams players and don't look to see how they fit into your scheme though. Maybe they didn't care, and just wanted to hurt their rival. :: shrug :: |
We may as well just trade him since he had a bad game huh? Or hell lets just release him, we can't get anything for him anyway.

Expect him to look more like he did in Miami ie; a middling player |

When you are lined up one on one with the box stacked you don't let a wr come off the line without a hit... That cooks guy was never touched and you are going to get torched most of the time unless you have somebody coming through the line fast to apply pressure to the QB... Brees is a great qb and they should have had some help for sean regardless... If you are not getting pressure on the qb most of the wr in the nfl are going to get open. I am disappointed in the D play overall but the game was won anyway but that stuff won't fly against better teams |

The same Titans that before this season, were a combined 5-27 in the previous two seasons and 1-2 this year? Impressive. |
passing yards allowed: 11th
Completion % against: 3rd TD's allowed: tied for 4th (2) INT's: 1st Damn guys. We sure miss Sean Smith don't we? |
Why are you guys worried about a raider?
|
Sure he was torched week 1 but he isn't the first guy to be torched in the big easy. It was stupid to put him on Cooks though. Norton is a moron to be honest.
