Alexander Douglas Smith: 2016

We wouldn't we want to roll out another Alex Smith thread?!?!? Listen, for the Clay haters, this will probably be the thread that gets him banned. He can't help himself, right? Let's go!!!

First off, as many of you know, I have been very critical of Alexander Douglas Smith. Wasn't happy with the trade, HATED the extension, and have burned him to the ground from the beginning. So ****ing sick of the retread QB's.

So, that said Alex Smith is my Daddy. I mean, I just have to own that at this point. Here's why. He's never had continuity in a system. That guy had a new offensive coordinator just about every year until Jim Harbaugh showed up. And he flashed a little bit. That said, it sure looks like San Fran traded their best QB to us in favor of some douche that's starting some thing all over the league, while riding the bench to a guy named Blaine Gabbert.

Alex is now in his 4th year of the same system and it's showing. He's getting better. Why is he my daddy now all of a sudden though? Because he proved that he's more than just a game manager. He made some ****ing incredible throws against the Chargers last week. The back shoulder Maclin throw, the Maclin throw where Jeremy was almost killed, The Spencer Ware throws. Twice he hit him downfield (like, way more than 8 yards!), and then finally the Kelce throws.

People can give Spencer Ware a lot of credit, he is deserving of it after the monster game he had. Make no mistake about it though, Alexander Douglas Smith personally put this team on his back and willed them to victory. 1 play at a time. 1 throw at a time. He's a leader, and it reflected in the locker room after that game. They trust Alex now. They trust that he has what it takes to will them to victory in any game.

Alex isn't just a game manager anymore. He's a game changer, and a leader. This team could go 6-10 this year and I'll say the same thing. He has the ability and he's proven it. Now let's see where they go with it. I'm officially a YUGE Alex fan. What do you think? I'll take your comments off air.

Clay is a good friend of mine IRL. I would hate to see him banned, but I have zero to do with his moderation on this site because we are friends and I'd be partial to just let him do what he does around here.

Coochie liquor 09-17-2016 10:52 AM

Hoping your daddy can do it more times than one! He's shown us he CAN do it last week. Now he needs to show us he can continually do it on a reg basis. I want to believe he can, but the other factor that may come into play is Andys play calling. I'm tired of not throwing into the endzone on a and goal to go situation. Andy needs to LET Alex do it.

Hammock Parties 09-17-2016 10:52 AM

Alex will have an eye-opening year. Can't wait!

RealSNR 09-17-2016 10:53 AM

I said last year that I would stop abusing Alex for being what he is (a backup game manager that we acquired in an expensive trade from a team, when the last horrific QB experiment we had was the exact same ****ing deal) if he won a playoff game in his 3rd season with the team. He did, so I've stopped.

Yes, there's still the occasional benchmark he needs to reach. He can't start sucking. There's also the expectation that maybe he'll win more playoff games in the future. But for finally freeing this team of its playoff win drought, he's proven that he is, in fact, a giant upgrade from what Cassel was, not just a moderate and underwhelming upgrade.

What he did Week 1 was show that he's capable of growing beyond my expectations for him. I won't expect him to do it every week, or even again at all this season. But the point is that it's possible. And I did not see that coming.

Same here.
Banning is some pussy shit IMO.
Its funny as hell anyway. Hs losing streak in his bets is remarkable and he just keeps coming.
He actually makes you root for the team even harder with his antics and the people who bitch are the ones who CONSTANTLY quote his posts. its hilarious.

Of course he has, but you likely won't hear much of that in here.

Just look at his career and how many different offenses he played in with the 9ers. Five different coordinators in five years with his most consistent and productive time under Harbaugh. Now, going into his fourth year in one system, it shows. I was surprised at how comfortable he looked in the second half last week, and I was surprised at his play (the back shoulder to Maclin, the fade to Kelce). I don't think he could have made those throws even last season, but his confidence continues to grow.

He's still by no means perfect, but he's better than anything we've had in a decade plus at quarterback.

If daddy leads us to a SB win then he will be my daddy too. Till then he's a waste of what's left of my life. Wasted 40+ years so far, getting really ****ing sick and tired of doing the same thing over and over and over again. It was insane. I've never seen a team just flip the script like that before, and on both sides of the ball. Maybe Buffalo in that playoff game with Frank Reich eons ago, but certainly no team I've ever rooted for.

As far as the Smith hate goes, he's not even in the same universe as Casshole so leveling a similar campaign against him is stupid.

Yeah, OK. He's not Tom Brady. But there aren't many of those around. He's a vast improvement over Casshole and I appreciate him for it.

Wrong. If I'm a QB I dream of the Vermiel line each night. Vermiel like with Our RB corps, Maclin with Kennison and Kelce and TG and TRich at FB. But it really doesn't matter who is at the skill positions when the OL is the best in te league by a billion miles.

The whole "WE MUST DEVELOP A QUARTERBACK ON OUR OWN!!!!" bitchfest has really jumped the shark. Yes, I know, the Chiefs were ****ing idiots for refusing to draft Mark Sanchez, Geno Smith, and Teddy Bridgewater. Those guys are really tearing up the NFL, aren't they?

Q: If Alex Smith and the Chiefs win the Super Bowl this year, will people stop begging for the Chiefs to develop a young quarterback?
A: Of course not.

Hey, you know where I've been on that. Here we are though, and color me impressed with his progression. You're going to see Alex going down field this year. In fact, our defense may be a bigger weakness than our offense. Time will tell.

TigeRRUppeRRcut 09-17-2016 12:45 PM

I remember a year ago Clay was the leading in the charge in which he and his dysfunctional group of followers were spouting endless amount of bullshit that i) smith ruined bowe's career ii) smith choked against the colts iii) smith can't throw it deep iv) that he can only check down v) and that geno smith was the smith we should have went after

Everything he said has been WAYYY the **** off. And he won't even acknowledge Smith's ability to run the ball and sacrifice his body for the team. The same Smith he'll put up youtube videos of diving for TD's against the Bills and Chargers to lead his team from a big deficit.

The stupid is strong in this one.

well I watched them plenty. Aikman is vastly overrated. Dude had amazing OL and great talent all around him. Talk about silver-spooned throughout.

You know, he still averaged around 13 TDs per season, LOL. Comp % in his last 4 years were all below 60. Averaged 200 yards passing per game throughout his career.

Elway, not much better.

We all know this is not true. Just wait til tomorrow and your passive aggressive and ignorant comments will return in the game thread. Like clockwork.

I've never seen anyone get shut down so badly and return for more as persistently as this.

Once again you are wrong. I'm probably the most against clay on this site.

You and him are the same in my eyes.

Here to push an agenda that's not really pro-Chiefs?

Jesus, you just blew my mind

No. I'm not discussing this with you. It's futile, and everyone here knows you're wrong, anyway.

I refuse to shit up a friend's thread with TigerUppercut vs Smellway/Stop, Chiefs tripe.

Good day.

Excuse me?

No, I didn't cry to the mods, never have.

I handled that myself, like always.

Show me where I cried to a mod, Bob.

I was effectively agreeing with you.

It could be huge. 80% of the MIZZOU student body will be there in 12 minutes.

Please enlighten us, Clay! Everyone is against you, what do you have to say to that??

You know, he still averaged around 13 TDs per season, LOL. Comp % in his last 4 years were all below 60. Averaged 200 yards passing per game throughout his career.

Elway, not much better.

You had better not be saying smith belongs in the same conversation about Elway or Aikman in anything. Ever.
I don't know when Alice Smiff let you suck his mediocre QB cock for the first time but it's apparently happened so often it has damaged your brain.
