Alexander Douglas Smith: 2016
We wouldn't we want to roll out another Alex Smith thread?!?!? Listen, for the Clay haters, this will probably be the thread that gets him banned. He can't help himself, right? Let's go!!!
First off, as many of you know, I have been very critical of Alexander Douglas Smith. Wasn't happy with the trade, HATED the extension, and have burned him to the ground from the beginning. So ****ing sick of the retread QB's. So, that said Alex Smith is my Daddy. I mean, I just have to own that at this point. Here's why. He's never had continuity in a system. That guy had a new offensive coordinator just about every year until Jim Harbaugh showed up. And he flashed a little bit. That said, it sure looks like San Fran traded their best QB to us in favor of some douche that's starting some thing all over the league, while riding the bench to a guy named Blaine Gabbert. Alex is now in his 4th year of the same system and it's showing. He's getting better. Why is he my daddy now all of a sudden though? Because he proved that he's more than just a game manager. He made some ****ing incredible throws against the Chargers last week. The back shoulder Maclin throw, the Maclin throw where Jeremy was almost killed, The Spencer Ware throws. Twice he hit him downfield (like, way more than 8 yards!), and then finally the Kelce throws. People can give Spencer Ware a lot of credit, he is deserving of it after the monster game he had. Make no mistake about it though, Alexander Douglas Smith personally put this team on his back and willed them to victory. 1 play at a time. 1 throw at a time. He's a leader, and it reflected in the locker room after that game. They trust Alex now. They trust that he has what it takes to will them to victory in any game. Alex isn't just a game manager anymore. He's a game changer, and a leader. This team could go 6-10 this year and I'll say the same thing. He has the ability and he's proven it. Now let's see where they go with it. I'm officially a YUGE Alex fan. What do you think? I'll take your comments off air. |
|
I wholly support this movement. Lure them in and draw them out, it won't be long now.

Hoping your daddy can do it more times than one! He's shown us he CAN do it last week. Now he needs to show us he can continually do it on a reg basis. I want to believe he can, but the other factor that may come into play is Andys play calling. I'm tired of not throwing into the endzone on a and goal to go situation. Andy needs to LET Alex do it.
|
Alex will have an eye-opening year. Can't wait!
|
I said last year that I would stop abusing Alex for being what he is (a backup game manager that we acquired in an expensive trade from a team, when the last horrific QB experiment we had was the exact same ****ing deal) if he won a playoff game in his 3rd season with the team. He did, so I've stopped.
Yes, there's still the occasional benchmark he needs to reach. He can't start sucking. There's also the expectation that maybe he'll win more playoff games in the future. But for finally freeing this team of its playoff win drought, he's proven that he is, in fact, a giant upgrade from what Cassel was, not just a moderate and underwhelming upgrade. What he did Week 1 was show that he's capable of growing beyond my expectations for him. I won't expect him to do it every week, or even again at all this season. But the point is that it's possible. And I did not see that coming. |
Whoo!!!

You should be careful about invoking a quarterback's middle name though. Bad juju.

Banning is some pussy shit IMO. Its funny as hell anyway. Hs losing streak in his bets is remarkable and he just keeps coming. He actually makes you root for the team even harder with his antics and the people who bitch are the ones who CONSTANTLY quote his posts. its hilarious. |
I can just picture them mashing the shit out of the keyboard buttons.

That was a great thread. But now we TRULY see Flopnuts' intent of this thread. Sheep in wolf's clothing, that one. |

Smith has grown with each season under Reid in this system.

Just look at his career and how many different offenses he played in with the 9ers. Five different coordinators in five years with his most consistent and productive time under Harbaugh. Now, going into his fourth year in one system, it shows. I was surprised at how comfortable he looked in the second half last week, and I was surprised at his play (the back shoulder to Maclin, the fade to Kelce). I don't think he could have made those throws even last season, but his confidence continues to grow. He's still by no means perfect, but he's better than anything we've had in a decade plus at quarterback. |

That first half against the Chargers had me questioning if he would even last the season as the starter. That 2nd half though.....god damn.

As far as the Smith hate goes, he's not even in the same universe as Casshole so leveling a similar campaign against him is stupid.
Yeah, OK. He's not Tom Brady. But there aren't many of those around. He's a vast improvement over Casshole and I appreciate him for it. Quote:

Q: If Alex Smith and the Chiefs win the Super Bowl this year, will people stop begging for the Chiefs to develop a young quarterback? A: Of course not. |
This thread needs the Sandy Cheeks stamp to truly be valid.

I remember a year ago Clay was the leading in the charge in which he and his dysfunctional group of followers were spouting endless amount of bullshit that i) smith ruined bowe's career ii) smith choked against the colts iii) smith can't throw it deep iv) that he can only check down v) and that geno smith was the smith we should have went after
Everything he said has been WAYYY the **** off. And he won't even acknowledge Smith's ability to run the ball and sacrifice his body for the team. The same Smith he'll put up youtube videos of diving for TD's against the Bills and Chargers to lead his team from a big deficit. The stupid is strong in this one. |

When Reid calls a shitty, shitty game and puts the team behind the 8 ball late, all on Alex. When the Oline has him running for his life on every play, all on Alex. just shut up Guys like you have been ragging and bitching for years about shit that wasn't even right to begin with. First incomplete pass and you'll start right back up again. |

For Clay and his fellow dumbasses:
What did Aikman and his passer rating of 85 over those superbowl years have that Smith hasn't shown? http://www.nfl.com/player/troyaikman...69/careerstats Or what did John Elway and his QB rating of 87 with his pristine ability to hand the ball off to terrell davis display that Smitty doesn't have? http://www.nfl.com/player/johnelway/2500547/careerstats HINT: -----> NOTHING, WE HAVE A SB LEVEL QB <----- |

For the many of you that don't know, Clay in life is not Smellway on CP. Not by a long shot. If he was? I'd probably like him even more. LMAO

So what you're saying is that your opinion of Geno Smith still holds true. That we will regret missing out on this chosen one. God **** you are dumb! |

I am not going to engage in this abortive cow offal of a discussion any more with you.
Literally not a single soul here besides you believes Alex Smith has any correlation to HOF QBs. |

You know, he still averaged around 13 TDs per season, LOL. Comp % in his last 4 years were all below 60. Averaged 200 yards passing per game throughout his career. Elway, not much better. |
What is amazing is the media barely mentioned the game at all.
They showed AR throw like 5k times. I dont think some players get credit. |

You had better not be saying smith belongs in the same conversation about Elway or Aikman in anything. Ever. I don't know when Alice Smiff let you suck his mediocre QB cock for the first time but it's apparently happened so often it has damaged your brain. |
