10 wins. Win Wild Card. Lose Divisional.

Discuss Thrower 01-16-2017 02:58 AM

9-7, lose Poe to FA and Dorsey to Green Bay and will draft an OT in the first round.

Tribal Warfare 01-16-2017 02:58 AM

At best, one and done in the playoffs until we get a legitimate franchise QB

As posted in another thread:

The Chiefs will be the first team in the history of the NFL to score more points than their opponent in a play off game but still lose.
A new record of failure for the franchise.

Hammock Parties 01-16-2017 03:02 AM

Cap room is looking tight. We're likely to lose Poe or Berry. Schedule looks hard.

also to respond to "get smith some weapons"

you could give him an ak47 have him kill every defensive player and he still wouldnt hit hill downfield

cmdrzman 01-16-2017 07:01 AM

This team will never win a SB much less a AFCG with Alex Smith. This offense is just not good enough to get through the post season. Regular season, sure, for a WC.. but it aint gonna get it done in the post season.

The reality is the defense wasn't good enough this year. Blame it on injuries, blame it on whatever you want, but I'm sorry....bend but don't break isn't gonna cut it vs the elite QBs in the postseason. You can't expect a Brady to make the same mistakes that you saw lesser QBs make throughout the year to bail us out.

I guess people just look at offensive numbers and ignore the fact that they were barely on the field because our D was consistently getting gashed in the run game.

I'll put it this way...I have more faith in the offense making a crucial play than in the D getting a critical stop. The pass rush is nonexistent most of the time. I'm tired of people giving the defense a free pass. It was very solid the last 2 years but not this year. Only opportunistic.

Let's hope we don't lose Dorsey and he shores up the lines and linebacking corps, and Bailey and/or Howard return and make an impact.

TigeRRUppeRRcut 01-16-2017 07:22 AM

13-3. First seed.

FringeNC 01-16-2017 07:32 AM

As Mellinger put it in his column, "The offensive line was mauled. The pass rush created almost no pressure."

Replay of the first game at Pittsburgh. Score was closer because the Steelers didn't execute in the red zone.

Going forward, one of these things has to happen:
1. Fire Andy Heck.
2. Upgrade line (Yes, Fulton sucks but is upgrading his position enough?)
3. Upgrade at QB (Smith, like most QBs, requires good pass-blocking)

(Look at Dallas, Pittsburgh, and GB. Three best pass blocking lines in the game.)

If none of these things are addressed, it'll take extreme amounts of luck to beat good teams in the playoffs. And let's face facts: #3 is all but possible going into next season.

Now, the D has issues, too. Not sure what the solution is there.

Ehinger will be back and please create some competition at the center position. Morse is too small at his position that running up middle is damn near impossible

Yet our offense could only come up with 16 points. Our offense has been lacking all year and supported by special teams play and pick 6's on defense.

Why Not? 01-16-2017 07:40 AM

10-6. Half of this board will have amnesia and act like this is the year, Chiefs will lose in the playoffs when Kelce fumbles in the red zone.

I like the optimism however like most years, I'm going to be EeyOre and say the Chiefs finish 7-9 and out of the playoffs.

The schedule next year looks pretty tough... Probably not going to sweep the division again.

Can't just judge them by points scored (or even yards). Pittsburgh dominated the time of possession by gashing our D with the run.

Now there are obviously problems on offense...dropped passes, poor run blocking, not finding open receivers. I just don't understand why the D gets such a free pass.

Imagine if it were reversed and it was the offense that was "opportunistic," consistently converting short fields into scores but rarely putting together long drives or big plays, and getting little push from the line. Would we call it a great offense and never criticize it?

jimidollar 01-16-2017 08:17 AM

We will have as many playoff wins as the Browns.

loochy 01-16-2017 08:21 AM

Our division will be pretty tough next year

So will the rest of the schedule

I don't see as many freak ST/D scores happening

I don't really think the team will actually be worse - they will probably be better...BUT

9-7, wildcard, loss

The Defense doesn't get a "pass", you ****ing imbecile. The D was GASSED from being on the field the entire first half. Also, missing DJ doesn't help the run D. At all. Don't know why Hali wasn't moved inside to help with the run, but I digress...

The fact remains that the D held the Steelers to 0 TDs at home during a playoff game. 18 pts on 6 FGs. If the offense can just score 3 TDs at home, we win. 3 TDs at home shouldn't be a tall order. That's not even one TD per qtr. Just one TD in the 3rd to go with the one in the 1st and the one in the 4th.

THAT is why people are critical of the offense. The offense that leaves the Defense on the field CONSTANTLY, 3 and out after 3 and out...can't even string a couple first downs together to give them a ****ing BREAK. The offense that constantly leaves the D in a bad spot...

For such an "offensive genius" as Reid, it's pretty ****ing pathetic. Weak sauce.

hey dumbass..why don't you get mad at the offensefor not getting time of possession?

After the first drive, the Chiefs had 6 godawful drives.

5 plays-punt-3:03 mins
3 plays-INT-1:20 mins
3 plays-punt-1:01 mins
Halftime
3 plays-punt-1:12 mins
7 plays-punt-4:54 mins
7 plays-FG-2:50 mins

From 3:46 left in the 1st Q to 9:49 left in the 4th Q, the Chiefs had the ball for 14:32 mins. That's ****ing horrific.

**** anyone blaming the defense. The offense was garbage outside of the first and last drives

FACT.

The Steelers scored 0 TDs and less than 20 pts. At Arrowhead.

And the offense couldn't even match their 18 point output. At home.

Defense has the same talent level, but their unsustainable RZ D regresses to the mean. Fewer D and ST touchdowns leads to fewer fluky wins. OL likely plays better due to continued cohesion and development time.

Smith is Smith.

9-7, which may improve somewhat if they continue to target low character scum that has fallen down draft boards due to being human detritus.

It's closed. Chiefs are third poorest team after the Cowboys and Jets as it pertains to cap room for 2017. There's no money to sign elite offensive FAs (since apparently the best skill players in KC in the last 20 years isn't enough to win games that matter) and there isn't any one particular defensive signing that can outweigh the loss of Berry or Poe.

Red Dawg 01-16-2017 03:29 PM

Schedule is rough just like this year. We pulled some wins out our butts with crazy plays that won't happen again. Caro should have been a loss. Atl should have been a loss. Not seeing 12-4 in 17. Not seeing us be much with Smith at QB.

ChiTown 01-16-2017 03:31 PM

I don't make predictions until I see what the roster(s) look like, including our competition in the AFCW

gold_and_red 01-16-2017 04:40 PM

Blind guess of 11-5 going by Reid's average here. The problem is that this team is not elite at any one thing except maybe turnover differential assuming we keep playing Fitzpatrick and Bortles every year. Heart stopping games can go either way so we can just easily be 7-9 as we could be 12-4.
Reid seems to lack the SB or bust mentality especially when coaching a bottom tier franchise desperate for recognition. Why is the OL coach still employed? Why do we have two dummy OCs? Why take 30 seconds to relay a sideways pass through two hops to the QB?
Reid is not demanding excellence. No drive, no urgency, no willingness to improve, same 7 minute offense, same wasted timeouts but hey players are leaving as family so we got that going for us.

JohnnyHammersticks 01-16-2017 05:42 PM

I predict that we will Dorsey will amass even more talent, which will inevitably be undermined by Alex Smith's severe limitations and Andy Reid's poor play-calling and reeruned clock management.

No money- gonna lose some players- this team will not be as good next year. We can't sustain any hope throwing just 17 passing TD's a year. Hell, Mascara Carr had that many passing TD's by week 8... Speaking of Carr. If he's our QB we win that game and are on to Foxboro. We have got to draft a QB and quit ****in around. Theres teams finding franchise QB's in rd 2-4. If this team has any hopes of winning a SB, we gotta draft a QB, and I'm taking one in rd 1 and grooming him for a year and let him take over in 2018

Sweet Daddy Hate 01-18-2017 07:13 AM

Another season of Smith mediocrity, wild card exit.

TigeRRUppeRRcut 01-18-2017 07:16 AM

This draft is stacked with running backs. Filling the void at ILB shouldn't be too difficult since we just need to find one playmaker in FA or the draft. Tag Berry. Trade/release one between Poe, Howard, Bailey. Houstin and Maclin hopefully get their heads out of their asses. Cut Charles. Tamba and DJ restructure/retire. Tyreek builds chemistry with Smith. Ehinger returns. Peters and Mitchell continue to develop. Dirty Dan will be back. Jones and Nunez Roches come back hungry.

Plenty of optimism. 14 win season is achievable.

Reerun_KC 01-18-2017 07:24 AM
