Finally. I think I was 10 the last time it happened.

That was thrilling, simply thrilling.

I was driving back home from work listening to Denver's talk radio guys when they announced KC made the trade. One was dumbfounded ("Alex Smith is a top 5 guy, no way they go QB"), but I knew, it was finally going to happen.

I'm not unduly concerned if he busts. To win big in any sport requires big risk, and the Chiefs just put their chips on the table.

This hard on will not be wasted... Going upstairs to find the wife...

In my dad and bro and me saw the pick and freaked out.

Based on the opinions of the people that I respect the most here, this was the guy I wanted, but I thought sure we would end up just holding a Peterman.

Pretty happy with this.

I was 12 when they last drafted a QB in the first round. They got the guy I wanted.

The last few years, I have come to trust Dorsey: Chris Jones, Tyreek Hill, Marcus Peters. Dorsey repeatedly drafts somebody that has draft pundits saying "WTF?" and then appearing in the Pro Bowl down the road. Andy Reid developed Brett Favre and Donovan McNabb. I also think Reid is getting as much from Alex as he can get. I think Andy will make this kid a QB to be feared.

OMG, I was 12 last time we grabbed a QB in the 1st. This is an epic ****ing day! GO CHIEFS!!

First time I've ever missed watching the Chiefs first round pick....had a big show at work today and got home 10 minutes ago as the announcers said something about KC moving up to take Mahomes and I was like "hold on, everybody be quiet for a minute" then I saw it on the ticker and almost fell down.

The Chiefs needed this pick to keep me hanging on. Between the team and the over all direction of the league I have been losing interest big time. This excites me and will keep me tuned in this coming year even though I don't expect to see him start until next year.
