Great news: NFL loosens rules on celebration
Finally the no fun league is becoming fun again.

sources close to the situation confirm that no one still knows what is, and is not a catch. or holding, or DPI/OPI.....
|
sounds like someone finally got high and loosened up

No(w) Fun League

Also, the 75-man cut down is no longer. Teams will carry 90 players on the roster throughout the entire preseason.
|
It's not going to make the product better

The NFL is preparing for the Mahomes era.

Interesting. Not sure if I like the shortened overtime period. That is likely going to cause more games to end in ties. I guess I just don't see the need for that move. I'm not sure about the elimination of the cut down to 75. The guys in that cutdown aren't making an NFL roster anyway. What benefit is there to keeping them on the roster an extra week? I definitely like the idea of moving a second player off of injured reserve. A team shouldn't be have to lose a player for the season or sacrifice a roster spot for half the season because a player suffered an 8 week injury in week one or the preseason. I am also glad to see some loosening up on the celebration penalties. They were getting ridiculous.

Sucks to be a charity of the offenders fine recipients.

At least that is something but I don't really like the OT rule change I think that is dumb IMO.
As far as the injured reserve rule change I don't understand why they don't just dump the whole thing and what is the purpose for it anyway? If a player gets hurt he should be able to come back whenever he is healthy, that is the way it is in all the other sports. |
These are good moves

"...when applicable, making snow angels..."
I want to see someone get penalized for a lack of snow during their snow angel celebration. |

Seriously, it's going to be a ****ing blast out there now. Those boys...just playing and horsing around. Jokes. Friendships. So much fun.
|
I would like for them to nix the gameday inactives and let the whole 53 dress for games. Probably never happen though.

sadly, every time Talib reads a book, a child is cured of cancer.
there's no hope for those kids. |
Don't think it will go into effect this year but they are also talking about allowing players with concussions to not count against the 53 man roster total. That is a good idea as it will take some of the pressure off of the players and teams to have them continue to play or have a wasted roster spot for a few weeks.

BUT THINK OF THE CHILDREN!!!

The most interesting rule to watch might be the OT rule. Making both teams get a possession if you only get a FG has seemingly increased ties. You'd think shortening OT would make it even worse.
You could also get a situation where one team goes on a 7+ minute drive and kicks a FG. Almost puts the other team in a 2 minute drill situation from the start. Is that fair? You definitely want the ball first and the ability to milk the clock. |

Wow they seriously have to cite specific examples of allowable celebrations?
How about this... If you're not delaying the game, not doing anything obscene, and not blatantly taunting someone else... It's fair game. And taunting is a much bigger concern. Enforcing a penalty after a td is annoying. Enforcing a penalty on a play affects games. This is much ado about nothing until they relax the silly rules on taunting. |
|
The IR rule is because of Gronk not being able to return. Dumbass NFL sucking it off to the Pats again.

OT rule is pure shit.

holy cow that cut down day rule, no more 75 man cut down
1 day all teams go from 90 to 53. That is going to be a massacre for players |
Now if they would only get rid of the taunting rule.

Perhaps the NFL remembered they are entertainment?
