Who is our breakout and let down players in 2017?
 

Last year Dee Ford was our breakout player and Phillip Gaines was our let down player.

Who do you think these players are in 2017?

IMO, I think Chris Jones establishes himself as a top shelf DL after an awesome rookie year.
Hard to simplify it to one player, but I'd choose Spencer Ware as the let down player. I think Kareem Hunt is going to take his job by midseason.

Letdown: Eric Berry

I think Berry has an alright year....just not an All Pro year.

Breakout: Terrance Mitchell
Let Down: Allen Bailey

Breakout : Tyreek

Let down: Kelce

I think Allen Bailey is a strong candidate for a let down. He struggled vs the run last year and it seems like his pectoral injury would make it very difficult to work out fully like he normally would.

I've never been overly impressed by Bailey so I don't know that I feel a let down there

Letdown is already won: Houston.


He won't even come close to justifying his contract, and anyone who believes otherwise is a total homer

This is true for almost every star player.

Well you and Pest already took the 4 that came to my mind offensively and defensively.

I think Dee Ford needs to continue his progress because he sure can be a letdown if he doesn't.

Exactly. Bailey has seemingly reached his ceiling already. I expect a solid contributor and nothing more or less. A JAG so to speak.

Guys like Berry and Houston will never live up to their contracts, but they'll still produce.

Ron Parker is due for a slide back to earth though.

Tyreek Hill will be the let down player in 2017, simply because it will be very difficult for him to match his rookie season production.

Quite possibly.

But he's going to get a ton more snaps this season so i wouldn't bank on a let down year. Maybe not as explosive on a per play basis, but i can't imagine him not being productive barring an injury.

Imagine if Tyreek has a season ending injury in Training Camp. Our season will be over before it even starts

Tyreek has been working his ass off in KC all offseason.

Barring injury, there's no way he doesn't surpass last years #'s.

It'd usher in the Mahomes era for sure. With no 'reek or Maclin, i can't imagine Smith finishing the season. The offensive production would be atrocious. A change would be forced.

Let's flip that. Now imagine if Smith has a season ending injury in training camp.

How can Alex Smith be more of a letdown than he has been his entire career?

I mean he's only the third winningest QB in the last 4 years behind Brady and Wilson

I don't think i could consider Jones a breakout prospect. His rookie season was already so good.

He hasn't done shit the last two years due to injury. Soooo therefore this will be a breakout year.

And Dee ford will have a better year. 15 sacks for Houston 12 for Ford.

Alex smiff will be highly motivated to have an All Pro year and he will.

Conley should have a good year as the coverage will be attempting to smother Hill.

Kelce will match last year.

Peters and Berry will not match their past performance.

Parker has been improving every year. He's a top 5 FS

Peters won't because they have stopped throwing to his side. Mitchell it's your time to shine

How could Alex Smith be the letdown player? Wouldn't you have to have some level of expectation to be let down?

LMAO now we know Jones will suck and Reek will have 27 TD's.

If we are healthy our D line should flourish especially if Kap shows up.

A lot of breakout candidates. I'll go Hunt or D-Rob. It's hard to pick a letdown because as Chiefs fans, you just don't want to acknowledge the possibility. Probably going to be someone who is injured, unfortunately.

Sophomore slump. The league has a year of film on him. Still think he will be a stud long term but he will have to figure out how to overcome teams game planning to stop him.

No doubt. Those were the first two guys that came to mind when I thought of other candidates.

Our offense has been pretty lackluster the past four years so that's not building much of a case for your lover.

The constant on this team the last 4 years responsible for winning is the coaching staff, not Alex Smith.

In DVOA our offense was fantastic in 2015. In the second half of 2016 when Tyreek rightfully got targets, the passing game started to excel

Alex Smith threw for 233 yards a game with 7 TD and 6 INT in the last 8 games of 2016, and that doesn't include his embarrassment of a playoff game.

The Chiefs offense averaged less than 20 points per game during those eight games.

Such excellence.

In fact, your post is so far off nothing about it is right. Smith threw for more yards per game (234), more TDs (8), fewer INTs (2) and had a higher QB rating in the first half of the season.

He was basically the same QB in the first half of the season vs the second half of the season, except he started throwing more picks.

You don't know what the **** you're talking about.
