Fire Bob Sutton
That is all.
|
|
If only............
|
Give Bob a Werthers Original for every 3 and out and we’ll be fine.
|
Im in. He is tired and done.
|
I'm in. He's terrible. Zero pass rush, so predictable, can't make a stop.
You score 30 points on the road, you better freaking win that game. |
Trade Houston while your at it. His injury has ruined him.
|
Sutton can't develop a blitz scheme that works with a 22 million dollar player who virtually everyone considers a top-5 pass rusher.

Watching Mack tonight makes you realize just how far Houston has fallen.
|
I'll repeat the same thing I've always said about Sutton and his schemes...
He gets by on the individual talent of his players. As long as a few of his star players go apeshit, he looks like a genius. Now, with injuries and age, there's not enough star power to prop up his mediocre coaching. |
How old is that fossil? Shouldn't he be retiring?
|
You paid Justin Houston $100M or whatever the **** it was, so he can rush the passer.
Sutton puts him into coverage. Some of the most stupid maddening shit I've ever witnessed. ZERO PASS RUSH SO ****ING PISSED RIGHT NOW |
Banner time!!! He's got to go. I don't care what Andy thinks, this guy is Greg Robinson bad!
|
Yeah, fire his ass.
|
He has to unleash Justin Houston. Why pay him a gazillion dollars to ****ing do nothing but drop back in coverage. Let the man eat!

Andy Reid stuck with epic fail DC Juan Castillo in Philly... he is loyal to fault and will likely be the same way with Sutton.
|
I’ve been saying this for years.

Chiefs pressures tonight on Oakland's 61 pass plays: Dee Ford-7 Justin Houston-6 Chris Jones-5 All other Chiefs combined-0 |

Wants to rush the passer...but not really so we rush 3 wants to play man-man...but not really so we play off 10 yards wants to defend the run...so leave a LB to read\react wants to defend against the TE..so take our best pass rusher and run him down field that's exactly why we look like we do...he has no balls to commit to anything on any play |
Wasn't there like a 3rd and 30 they converted near the end? They didn't send anyone and allowed the wr's to get down field and allow Carr ALL day to make a decision.
|
Been saying it for a long time, fire Sutton!
|
His philosophy sucks.
|
Sutton is an idiot. I don't care about injuries, he's ****ing stupid.
|
It's a talent issue.
These DBs and linebackers are trash. |

Bob Sutton was jerking off back in the 90s at the thought of putting DT in pass coverage. Oh good Christ...the things he could have done with him in the open field.

I’m fine with running a man defense. I am. But we are trying to treat our corners like we’re running a Tampa 2 with our front 7...when in reality we’re running a cover 1, 8-10 yard cushion, 3-man rush defense. All of those things contradict one another. We started this game running the defense we should have played against Pitt...a zone, stack the box D...which is ironic because we refused to run it against Pittsburgh - the one team that defense is proven to work against.
Sutton...and Reid...have shown absolutely zero willingness to make in-game adjustments with regard to the defense. This is starting to look like 2003 all over again. We legitimately may not even make the playoffs with this **** stick calling the shots on defense. |

How about we fire Reid? He's the highest level that's realistically fireable.
Wait, we're 5-2 do reality matters little to Hunt. |

I am 100% never going to go the fire Reid route...but he either needs to get in Sutton’s ear and tell him to make some ****ing adjustments, or move the **** in. Because our defense looks as lost as Jimmy Hoffa out here.

And no. He shouldn’t be fired.

The Chiefs don't have talented enough pass rushers to beat that OL consistently. Sutton could dial up blitzes but then the shit DBs are going to get roasted even worse. |
He will be after the season when we lose in the playoffs again at Home to a team we should beat!
|
I’d love to be able to sit in that locker room when the media is asking questions. I would be the one to tell the truth asking why Sutton isn’t fired yet? Maybe even ask if us fans can pay off Gaines so he can work where he is best suited...garbage man.

They need to start playing zone coverage IMO. They don't have the CB's to play man to man. 1 average CB in Peters and the rest are garbage. They only rush 3 half the time to counter this which only hurts them more.
Straight up garbage scheme, garbage players. |

That shit right there is why Sutton should be fired.

Wow. Standing out in the middle of the field where he's completely useless. Get ****ed, Sutton.

I can already see it coming with Peters. We're gonna pay him insane money and be begging to throw him off the team in a couple years when he can't cover his own dick. |

He's had a good track record here. |
Shit I wanted him gone after that Indy playoff game.
|
It's kinda unfortunate we play the Broncos. That MIGHT -- and I very much mean that -- help the defense masquerade as OK for a week, save a few jobs, disguise the reality. And then we're going to go to Dallas and give up 500 yards again. Zeke might break the rushing record on us (it must be hard for opposing OCs to decide whether to focus on running or passing since both are so easy).
Man. This is a scary ****ing thought. The Chiefs could actually be 5-4. And at that point, even though the schedule would look a little softer, they're a 5-4 team with a bottom 3 D in football. Oof. |

Suttons bend but don't break is broken.

Probably wouldn't help but it's deserving and been a long time coming. His scheme doesn't work without multiple superstars on the field.

Put Houston next to Chris Jones and at least **** one side of the Oline up. |
I’m willing to give the defense a slight pass on the short week after an emotional loss and having to turn around and go on the road. However, Sutton is a ****ing idiot. Houston in coverege that much is just ****ing inexcusable. He let Carr dance around back there with the ****ing game on the line and have a chance to complete a pass over and over and with our star healthy defensive player stand around and do nothing. That’s ****ed

I love this franchise. It's beautiful. "it's like poetry, it rhymes" |
Carr had a hurt back. Why the **** do you not blitz him early and often and get hits on him? ****ing pathetic.
|
So who do you replace Sutton with?
Gibbs? Pettine? Rex? Sutton needs to go but Andy will flinch at the thought... |
I've been one of his biggest fans but if I was Reid I would seriously consider it. I love the scheme but when he hasn't had the pieces to run it he still plays man no matter what. Back in 2013 they had to throw Marcus Cooper out there because they didn't have a CB with size and length to play man so they went with inexperience. Same with last year and this year with Mitchell. Without Berry they really can't run this D the way they would like and he has lived and died with single high S coverage. Big problems at S. They are all former CB's except Sorenson and Terrill doesn't play but Acker has been cross trained and played S this season. You see that, more athletic S's because of the trend moving to a passing league over the years. But Parker has his tackling issues, Sorenson can be exploited in coverage, Murry is another CB convert and I like the kid on special teams, he is tough, but I would strongly consider moving him back to CB if there is a vet safety available he is needed badly. Too many issues of some sort with the safties that are left with Berry out.
I like the multiple fronts this D has. But just like Reid has had to adjust on O and play up to Alex's strengths with the read option and smaller WR's, Sutton has done nothing to adjust to scheming to protect the weak link and the secondary is full of weak links currently. I would hope at the very least he feels the heat and gets told his job is on the line. The timing is actually good if a move is to be made. 9 days to the next game on the 29th, a sunday night home game. Then 11-5 at Dallas, then the bye and off until the 19th. All depends on Sutton's willingness to actually self scout and lose some of the stubborness and adjust, which he hasn't shown signs of in his tenure. I like the guy but damn Reid is going to have a mutiny on his hands. Reid has options. He could promote Gary Gibbs. Solid but not that exciting. More of a make a move for a different voice if the players have tuned Sutton out and lost all faith in him. Mark Deleone is a Sutton guy that was with the Jets with him. Assist to Gibbs now with the LB's. He and Mike Smith, the asst. DL coach currently and former LB in the Ravens who run the same scheme. Those 2 could help Gibbs with the LB duties while he runs the show as DC. Rex, Rob Ryan, and Mike Pettine are all available. All ran this exact scheme. Rex has said he won't be a DC again. Plus he is a huge Bob Sutton fan/backer and likely wouldn't want to replace him. And he's making most likely some pretty decent coin with ESPN. Rob is kind of a dumb **** and his D's have been a mess with the Saints but their personnel sucks ass when he was there and not much better now. He could definatley bring an aggressive attitude and either Ryan brother could get these guys pumped and out of their mentioning of bend dont break and more excited about playing agressive. Pettine actually visited during training camp or mini camp as a guest of Reid. Like coaches do with unemployed HC's that don't have a job for the following season. He and Rob would likely accept if offered to replace Sutton or come in as a consultant. Neither has the loyalty to Sutton like Rex Does. Before he hired Sutton Reid was also interested in Ray Horton who just came off a great year in Arizona but was under consideratioin for the HC job before they hired Arians. Horton runs more of a Steelers 34 with more zone and mixed coverages. He's apparently pretty full of himself, that was the word back in 2013. He was the DC with the Titans with Lebeau on Staff as Senior defensive asst. Then a year in Cleveland and not currently coaching. I don't generally think a coach bringing in a Consultant really ever works out but it's worth considering if Reid thinks it would get Suttons attention to pull his head out of his ass. They're going to have to make big adjustments on how they play D and obviously Reid knows that. Whether Sutton is too stuborn or not is the key to this whole thing though. I would normally say it's just not realistic but they have completely went to shit and still have time to turn it around. Reid can be ruthless if he has to be |
Im down with ****ing with the 4-3.
This 34 defense eats cock. we have two capable 43 tackles in jones and bailey. And two 43 ends in houston and ford. SEND THOSE MOTHER****ERS AT THE QUARTERBACK EVERY GOD DAMN PLAY! |
Rob Ryan and Pettine would have the ability to play more of a one gap 3-4. Rob had a pretty good one gap slant 3-4 his first year in Dallas. It has pages of it in the 2011 jets playbook that Sorter had threads about on here. Odd ram pack was one of the sets they ran and allowed him to have more agile/athletic DL because they didn't 2gap much. Similar but not as good as Wade Phillips 3-4 under.

Should have jumped all over Wade Phillips after Denver fired him.

The lack of adjustments and coming into games against teams like Pittsburgh and not being prepared to counter and ditch the game plan when it's obvious early on they have your number...again...is just about the final straw with me if I am Reid. And if I'm Andy at the very least I hire Rob Ryan or Pettine as an advisor if for no other reason to send a strong message to Sutton that his ass is on the line. Don't like it, resign. I don't care if they sit in the press box on game day and just attend meetings and offer a fresh set of eyes and input on game plans with very little actual power or influence... I'd pay them for the rest of the season just to sit on their ass and be in Sutton's presence just to make a ****ing point that the offense and special teams are playing very well and the D needs to step the **** up. **** it, I've had it with the bullshit
