The Build Around Patrick Mahomes Game
Alright, I want to try something here with you guys. This should spark some good conversation about a critical question that almost every NFL team must ask itself these days -- how are we going to build around our young developing QB? This concept is simply for fun, just to test how you might build a team in today's league.
Here is how it works. You start with Patrick Mahomes as your lone starter on the roster and you get $50 million in cap space to spend elsewhere on the other 21 starting positions. Each position will have 4 players as options who you can select to add to your team, with each having a different price value based on their ability. If a player is marked as #1, he is worth $4M. If a player is marked as #2, he is worth $3M. If a player is marked as #3, he is worth $2M. Lastly, if a player is marked as #4, he is worth $1M. You can only take one player from each position. Of all of these, Norman and Mcourty seem like no brainers at the 2 value.
Maybe I would spring the 4 million for bell, hunt and Julio Jones (2rb?) If not 2 rb then maybe spring for kuechly Fill the rest with 3s and 4s |
I would certainly look to emphasize the OL, pass rushers, and corners. Would probably go with:
RB: Kareem. 3 mil. WRs: Julio, D-Rob, Agholar. 7 mil. OL: Whitworth, Osemele, Britt, Turner, Schwartz. 12 mil. TE: Olsen 3 mil. -- DL: Mack, Barrett, Peko, Jones. 10 mil. ILB: Hightower, Posluszny. 5 mil. CB: Peters, Haden, Heyward. 7 mil. S: Parker, McLeod. 3 mil. Right at $50M. Damn, that's hard. |

We are fine at WR, TE, and RB. Get the guy a few Oline pieces and load up on pass rushers and Dbacks.
Use the picks they will get for Alex to get some of the pieces. |

Its plenty griped about here, but seemingly no one is talking about addressing weaknesses along the O line beyond 'getting everyone healthy'... putting a good line in front of Mahomes is paramount
His kind of talent can turn average skill players into stars, just give him a good wall to do it behind Are there any sacred cows on this line... LDT, maybe Morse? A line, give him a top tier line |
