kick a field goal?
has there been any talk in local press whether andy considered trying a field goal rather than going for it on 4th and 9? butker would have the leg to make a 60 yarder I would think

the only thing I can think of is that by that time in the game it was cold enough that the odds were even lower than trying the pass |
No.
And that would be the wrong decision, kicking the FG in that scenario. |

That woulda been ****ing dumb. Punt? Maybe? Going for it was a decent call as bad as the defense was.

A Chiefs kicker making that kick in a playoff game. Lulz. Even if he did make it, someone would have lined up offsides or to many men on the field penalty would have happened.

It was 4 down territory all the way until you get into their 25 yard line. And even that, there's no guarantees that Butker would make this FG, considering that he missed one. |
A Chiefs kicker making a clutch 60 yard FG in a playoff game? Even less plausible than Alex Smith converting a clutch 4th and 9.

You deserve to lose anytime you put the game on a kicker's leg.

thats probably how i wouldve played it though try to get 5 or 6 on 3rd and then make a decision on 4th |

Butker was struggling to clear 47 during the halftime break. There was no way he was clearing 60.

Further, there are two circumstances you attempt a 60+ yarder:
1) You're in Denver with a sustained 10+mph wind behind a kicker who is money from 52 yards and in and; 2) There's less than :05 seconds in the first half and you know the other team doesn't have a guy fast enough to house a miss that comes up short. |
Hell YES! I was screaming for that last night. Way better chance of making the FG than making 9 yards with that offense.
|
Arrowhead in January is murder on kickers. I noticed Butkers kickoffs were shorter yesterday too
|
Yeah I could see how that would play out. OMG Butker makes an unbelievable kick. 15 seconds later, wait a minute we got a flag for illegal procedure.
