Aretha is the definition of Diva, in a good way. She had a long career and one of the most recognizable voices out there. I hope she's in comfort for the end.

Just in news coverage. She had a hard battle with cancer a couple years back, and she dropped out of performing earlier this year.

She fought a good long while.

Pancreatic cancer let very few know of her suffering. Died humble and quiet she is with her maker.

Try to listen without tissues. I double dog dare ya.

Brass, Drums, Horns, backup singers all on point, and she's carrying them around in the palm of her hand

My mother in law died of Pancreatic Cancer. It is ruthless. Ugly.

Wow, some of the people at her funeral, most notably Al Sharpton and Louis Farrakhan, really call into question the company she might have kept. Certainly not all of it, but if she didn't take time to ink a do-not-invite list that included those two, wow, just wow..

My stepfather was diagnosed earlier this year and died a week later.

No service. No visitation. Just gone.

If you had bothered to read a bit about the lady or even watch some news you would have learned that Aretha had known she was dying for quite some time and meticulously planned all the details of her funeral including who would be invited. These where the people she admired. Good people make bad choices in friends thats life.

I think Aretha was WONDERFUL, her voice and song was AMAZING, but I'm sure as HELL questioning the people front-and-center on the stage at her funeral.

Also, if people are going to acknowledge Aretha's agency in inviting Farrakhan and Sharpton, they should acknowledge her agency in inviting Pastor Williams to speak.
