Looking for some advice regarding exhaust.
I've got a 2015 Dodge Charger R/T. Bone stock, no modifications whatsoever. (I don't plan to mod much, if at all).
The only thing I really don't care for about the car is the stock exhaust. It's, well, strangely quiet. Even at WOT it sounds incredibly tame. I'm looking for something that will give me a little more rumble, without causing an obnoxious amount of drone for highway driving. Anyone have any suggestions? |
Muffler mod - 86 perforated pipe - something like this:
You should be able to get it done for $300 or less <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/KG0HMR9UCjo" frameborder="0" allow="autoplay; encrypted-media" allowfullscreen></iframe> |
Try sucking on it.

Trade your car in for a Charger Scat Pack. Better version of your car and sounds much better. I can give you my employee discount if it helps you out.

I drive a 2018 Dodge Charger Scat Pack that the corporation leases for me. Sticker price was $42,500, but with my discount it would have been $32,000. |

Don't do it.
Loud cars for the sake of loud cars are for ****s. I pay damn good money for mufflers. |

Nah, man, I just have goddamned engine noise ALL THE ****ING TIME. Tractors, sprayers, Combines, Transfer Pumps, Irrigation Motors, Air Compressors, welders, mowers, Semis, whatever - it seems like it's always goddamned something ****ing screaming in my ear. Christ. The last thing I want to do is have my pickup making a bunch of ****ing noise when it Can be mitigated. My nephew chopped the muffler off his pickup and I could have kicked his ****ing nuts up into his throat. Same with Semis with staight pipes. You can grab a little efficiency and a HP or 2 but Christ, **** YOU. We have technology to make noise go the **** away. ****ing why? I get it if you have a muscle car you don't drive much, but on a daily driver? ****ing really? **** I hate noise. |

Black Widow exhaust is the best. Best we've used at least. Spintech is pretty good too. But those will be universal applications. If you're looking for a product that says "2015 Charger R/T" in the description, that aint it. But if you're giving the car to an experienced exhaust shop it shouldn't matter anyway.
Just stay away from Flowmaster, Magnaflow etc. Also, avoid using those cheap metal hangers that some exhaust shops like to use. Over time they rust and snap. Sometimes they'll leave the exhaust hanging loose and your exhaust will rattle. I'm a retailer for Black Widow. I can get that other stuff like Flowmaster etc, but meh, i wouldn't feel good selling that to you. You'll find plenty of people who swear by those main stream mufflers, but a lot of time the average joe doesn't know any better. It's kinda like ****ing your first 'gina. Of course it was great. You never had vagina before so you have no other vagina to compare it to yet. But there's better vaginas out there. |

Thanks. |
I have to drop the exhaust out of my car to replace my failing driveshaft this weekend, so bought an American Thunder catback system from Flowmaster. Looking forward to getting both the driveshaft, and exhaust installed.

I'm very conflicted on the sound of the exhaust. I was expecting a deep rumble, but this is more of a raspy rumble sound. Is this due to the mufflers perhaps? I believe the mufflers are Flowmaster Super 44s. I like that my car a actually sounds like a V8 now, but this isn't exactly what I pictured. Any suggestions? I'd be ok with replacing the mufflers. There's also an X Pipe that I'm thinking may be giving me that raspy sound. I know there's a few guys.on here that know exhaust - so looking forward to what you think. |

I'm sure your car sounds great overall though. |

The sound just doesn't seem right. I'm going to get it up in the air and check for leaks at some point soon. |
When I put duals on my elco, Flowmasters were the general consensus.
I ended up using Magnaflow Rumble mufflers and I am totally pleased. |

You can take it buy a shop and ask them what they can do to get the sound you want. I think an H-pipe would be better for rumble if I recall correctly. |

Coincidence to find a thread about exhaust here today. Spent all weekend drilling out 3/4 studs off this Catalytic converter I stupidly broke off. Recommend (1) Milwaukee Hard Metal bits or (2) Spyder brand bits from Lowes. I have learned how important it is to be PATIENT with rusty bolts. GRR.

Someone tell me about J pipes. I've been reading up on them to a degree to help reduce drone. I honestly have no idea what they're talking about.
I'm not really digging this exhaust set up and am tempted to put the stock system back on. Sounds great at WOT. Sounds AWFUL at lower RPMs. The cabin noise is just ****ing obnoxious. |
Quote:
Flowmaster has a reputation of being....underwhelming. Black Widow and Spintech for a mean sounding, no drone exhaust. Corsa if you have to have "name brand" over priced stuff. If loud exhaust is obnoxious, go back to stock. Or get a muffler that's meant to....muffle. |

I can't even describe the sound. It's NOT the sound I was looking for. A deep rumble with some cabin drone would be acceptable. This just sounds like ass. |

An old school type I recommend to get some good old glasspacks, maybe Thrush so you can get a cool sticker too.

They have sound clip samples on their social media. Like, hundreds of them. Maybe on their site too, idk. But the answer you're looking for is Black Widow. |
I've got a 2015 Mustang GT with Magnaflow Turbos on it and while I like the sound, I would like it to be louder. It's something that's on my "eventually" list, actually leaning towards putting cut out valves on it, just need to find a shop willing to put them on before the cats(if I didn't need to pass emissions I'd just cut the cats off).
Though thanks for the Black Widow recommendation, will keep those in mind for the future for sure. |

Your best bet is to switch out the muffler though. |
