Thoughts on Gehrig Dieter

He’s my breakout star next season. He just seems like one of those guys where if you need a catch he will be there. He will be taking Conley’s role.

Mahomes and him have amazing chemistry off the field. They were roommates in training camp and are probably best friends. He even traveled to Orlando as a visitor for the Pro Bowl.

He is great on special teams. He can be a really good possession receiver in this system. Look out in 2019 for him!

big nasty kcnut 01-25-2019 09:05 PM

I'll say he'll be a st standout but he will not beat out pringle or conley.

Depth chart would be

Hill
Watkins
Robinson
Dieter
Dat
Pringle

LoneWolf 01-25-2019 09:11 PM

If Dieter has 10 catches next season, I’ll eat eDave’s girlfriend’s pussy. He has an outside shot to be the Chiefs #6 receiver behind Hill, Watkins, Robinson, Pringle, and DAT/Kemp.

kcclone 01-25-2019 09:24 PM

Mahomes does seem to like him so he’s got that going for him.

I feel like Kemp, D-Rob and Dieter can be solid depth.

Ideally one of the above can replace Conley, then resign Benjamin on the cheap, so you have some experience when the inevitable half season injury happens for Watkins.

Why would we re-sign this Benjamin person? What possible good would that accomplish?

What happens when Watkins gets hurt? Is Robinson really a guy you want starting?

What about signing Golden Tate, can we afford him? He would be a great fit for us. Hill and Tate on the outside would bring us speed that other teams would struggle to match. Kelce and Watkins on the inside preventing defenses from doubling Hill and Tate.

Are we going to go all out for a Super Bowl next year or not?

pugsnotdrugs19 01-25-2019 09:31 PM

I’m expecting Veach to add a WR in the offseason who can compete for the #3 job.

ShowtimeSBMVP 01-25-2019 09:32 PM

Cole Beasley if he can come on the cheap. I would love it

Not much but you need numbers and he’s probably only gonna cost $800k. You need 7 especially with Sammy being part time.

Probably will depend on Pringle and DeAnthony Thomas, unless we can add someone under fair market because of the Mahomes discount this offseason.

arrowheadnation 01-25-2019 09:36 PM

Dieter is down at the Pro-bowl with Mahomes as we speak. They must be pretty tight outside of football.

**** solid. I want a stud that shows the rest of the team how to play tough and with passion. We need some tough players to make up for our Stay Puft Marshmallow Man of a Coach.

There’s no player in the league that a team signs for 16mm/year and then signs another player - as insurance - like Golden Tate because it doesn’t trust the original player to stay healthy. You would be an awful GM.

scho63 01-25-2019 10:21 PM

Gehrig Dieter could just be another Great White Hope placeholder

Probably but if Mahomes likes him around and he can play special teams, he’s worth keeping.

Dante84 01-25-2019 10:31 PM

He is Mahomes’ warm-up partner and Patrick is very particular about his process. They are also close friends.

So, basically, he’s irreplaceable and must be protected at all costs. He’s like the magic water in Space Jam.

VAGOMO 4 LIFE! 01-25-2019 10:34 PM

Mahomes and Dieter are like a combo package. As long as Mahomes is in KC Dieter will be in KC as well. Just hope he can take the next step in being a wide receiver

bricks 01-25-2019 10:37 PM

Frosty 01-25-2019 11:00 PM

I'm hoping they can get upgrades for Conley, Dieter and Kemp. Pringle and DAT may be part of it plus hopefully another body or two via the draft and FA.

BigRedChief 01-25-2019 11:04 PM

Mahomes BFF. Seems to be good at that.

oldman 01-25-2019 11:08 PM

I don't see us re-signing Conley. DAT has been on IR, so who knows what he'll be coming back. That said, Dieter is probably a #4/ST guy at best.

srvy 01-25-2019 11:12 PM

What was Byron Pringles injury again I have forgotten? Are we certain he comes back with the same speed.

Quote:

“On Byron Pringle, who got hurt in the Green Bay game, he did pull his left hamstring, but when we did the MRI, we found that he had a left inguinal hernia, and that hernia needed immediate attention. So, he had surgery [Tuesday] at the University of Kansas Medical Center by Dr. John Alley, so he’s got an extended recovery ahead of him for a hernia. And then in the meantime, the hamstring will also get attention, but the hamstring will heal up quicker than a hernia will, so he’s going to miss some time.
Doesn't sound like a big deal.

carcosa 01-25-2019 11:17 PM

He seems nice

Bump 01-25-2019 11:18 PM

Conley and Robinson are okay, but just okay. Kelvin Benjamin sucks dick and was on the field more than him, so why should we expect anything from this kid? It would be nice if he turned out to be solid but he had like one catch all season.

prhom 01-26-2019 12:26 AM

It does not. I’d translate that as “we weren’t going to cut Conley, Robinson or DAT for this guy anyway so we’ll stash him on IR for a year and see what happens next season”.

I think we will see how the coaching staff really feels about him come draft time. Conley won’t be back, DAT has trouble staying healthy, Kemp and Dieter are ST guys who happen to play WR. We need someone to challenge Robinson for the #3 spot and/or cover for Watkins when he’s hurt. If we draft a WR or bring in another FA, then Pringle isn’t a lock. If we ignore WR in FA and draft then I’d say the coaching staff are pretty high on him.

He is Mahomes’ best friend on the team. Chiefs should keep him around.

siberian khatru 01-26-2019 09:05 AM

Mahomes seems to spend more time with Dieter than with his GF

ThaVirus 01-26-2019 09:08 AM

He sucks and so do Conley and Robinson. ****ers get 1-on-1s every ****ing play and can't ever get open. If they do, they drop the ball.

Ideally they'd all be replaced.

old_geezer 01-26-2019 09:25 AM

From what I've seen the only reason Dieter is still around is because he's Mahomes' friend. Now Pringle I still have hopes for.

Al Czervik 01-26-2019 09:27 AM

Conley is a ****ing trainwreck....
32 catches for 332 yards.....
0 catches in the playoffs.....

And this is with Hill, Kelce, and Watkins around him.....

He should of slayed it in the NE game with Hill double teamed....Instead, he ****ing goated....

Cut his ass as soon as possible and dont pay him another cent.

Chris Meck 01-26-2019 09:31 AM

He's JAG.

That can be fine, and if he plays fundamentally sound, he can have a decent career like that.

O.city 01-26-2019 09:34 AM

He’s a good 5th we that you can try and develop I guess

I’d draft a wr pretty high this year

Chief Northman 01-26-2019 09:41 AM

“Well, bye”

to

Benjamin
Conley
DAT

That leaves: Hill, Watkins, Robinson, Dieter, Kemp, Pringle

AND DRAFT DEEBO ****IN’ SAMUEL! This kid would shred in Reid’s offense and could be Watkins’ replacement when he inevitably gets cut in 2020/21.

Why get rid of DAT?

Buehler445 01-26-2019 09:57 AM

Yeah, think what you want guys, but it is unlikely he'll take a spot on the 53 because he's Mahomes buddy.

The real truth is that he has 1 catch for 22 yards. The optimistic thing is the dude was fired the **** up after he caught it. I think he wants it bad.

I'm not sure he's big enough to run possession type routes. He's also far from fast enough for quick enough for an Edleman or Hogan type role.

But if he blocks well and runs crisp routes there is a spot for him to be productive.

More than big enough for a possession receiver.

loochy 01-26-2019 10:10 AM

Keep him on as the 5th wide out and throw him some garbage time snaps to keep Mahomes happy.

This. He never has panned out as hoped. In his 5 years as a Chief, he has 64 receptions for 503 yards and 29 rushes for 186 yards. Hardly a stellar career.

I think Kemp only had 1 reception all year, so Dieter is crushing him, 100% more receptions ROFL

Dieter also had more snaps than Kemp, but they are both lowest of the low potential at the bottom of the depth chart either way.

But Dieter going to be a breakout “star” next season. You know he’s already been working out hard this offseason carrying Mahomes’ luggage in Florida and his late night Fortnite battles with Mahomes and Hill are really building chemistry.

He’s a ****ng JAG and he’ll be released faster than Billay’s bowels after a Chipotle bender as soon as they find a better option for special teams.
