NFLN says Chiefs will sign a corner in FA to replace Nelson

Actually they say as soon as tonight. Who will it be?

pugsnotdrugs19 03-12-2019 05:36 PM

Darby, Desir, McCourty....

booger 03-12-2019 05:45 PM

Wondering about Eric Rowe from NE. What was his deal last year?

dannybcaitlyn 03-12-2019 05:46 PM

Hopefully Darby

staylor26 03-12-2019 05:48 PM

Eh the free agent corner class is not very good at all

SR...

Can you FB Veach and Keim? Use your powers of persuasion and ask them to trade Peterson for the 29th pick? Or give us Peterson for one of the 2nd rounder picks? Maybe have AZ throw in a 3rd or 4th also? Thanks in advance. :thumb:

Isn't Darby the one who can't stay healthy?

Why would we want a guy like that? We already have one injury prone headcase in our secondary, we don't need a second.

Not sure he’s been hurt besides the ACL last November

Iconic 03-12-2019 05:56 PM

I think Darby is going to price himself out of our range. I'd be fine with either Desir, McCourty, or Dennard as long as we don't overpay.

The difference between these guys is really negligible so it comes down to price.

Couch-Potato 03-12-2019 05:57 PM

Apparently K Johnson visited the Chiefs before signing with the Bills, calling them "an up and coming team." Pretty sure if you read between the lines he means they offered him more money, as it's pretty clear we're significantly ahead of the Bills in terms of rising franchises.

Keep an eye on what KJ receives in his contract, that will likely tell us a lot about the Chiefs contract ceiling for a FA CB.

They had a visit with Breeland so maybe they look at him again. If not him then Darby. Because at the end of the day the guy Is a superbowl winner and is still fairly young.

CaliforniaChief 03-12-2019 06:05 PM

How about we just take a big mighty swing for the fences and make for an offer for Jalen Ramsey that Jacksonville can't refuse?

Dante84 03-12-2019 06:05 PM

Ramsey or Peterson. Let’s do it.

No reason for Jax to move Ramsey. They get a whole lot of dead money. I think if it is a big name it will be Patrick Peterson. His contract isn't that expensive and he wipes $22mm off the Cards cap.

I’d give up the Dee Ford 2 and the Rams 2 for Ramsey and give him the highest contract ever for a DB before I’d sign Darby.

And I’d be fine signing Darby.

I just hope it’s not a “highest CB contract in history” kind of deal like I think it will be.

I could see spending a pick on trading for Howard and then drafting a nickel/slot corner.

It all depends on what's on the board. Both Fuller and Badger can play slot.

If a legit no 1 corner falls to us we can draft them and possibly move fuller to slot or keep him outside and have Badger play slot.

Having 2 guys that can play numerous positions gives us flexibility...:)

So the thread title states, "NFLN says Chiefs will sign a corner in FA to replace Nelson"

Possible free agent CBs -

Jason McCourty - At 32 years old, too old for Veach to consider?

Kareem Jackson - Already signed with Denver Broncos for 3 years $33 M.

Pierre Desir - With Indianapolis Colts cap money, why would they let him get away?

Justin Coleman - Already signed with Detroit Lions for 4 year $36 M.

Ronald Darby - Estimated market value for him is supposed to be $10.8 M per year and 4 to 5 years in length. Chiefs might go there but maybe too much money with coming off injury from last season.

Eric Rowe - I like his size at 6-1, 205 and some things he can do, but he has not been able to stay healthy with missing over 27 games in 4 seasons.

So assuming that the Chiefs are really trying to negotiate a deal and are talking to two free agent CBs, I will take a wild guess on three cornerbacks that will probably be affordable and could help the Chiefs.

Bryce Callahan from the Bears

Darqueze Dennard from the Bengals

Bashaud Breeland from the Packers

Jalen Ramsey
