Has to be given something pretty cheap. Super cheap and team friendly

I’d like to have him though.

Actually the Amerson deal is exactly what you want. If you get high level production out of him, you win cheap. If you don't, he's gone and you're out nothing.

The mistake last year was not signing Amerson - that was a high risk/high reward move. The mistake was not having a backup plan and having to scramble for Orlando Scandrick at the last minute.

If they sign Verrett to an Amerson deal and then draft a CB high, that's a much better move than last year.

loochy 03-13-2019 05:41 PM

We just dumped 3 brokedicks. Do we really want to replace them with more brokedicks? At least they'll be cheaper brokedicks.

AFC West cornerbacks should take a significant discount to come to KC so they don't have to face Tyreek Hill.

That's what I meant. Don't sign the guy expecting him to be a cheap reclamation project and to be a starter too.

Right.

You sign him with the HOPE that he becomes a starter.

But you don't EXPECT anything.

No doubt. Again, they likely would already have Fuller, Ward, and Darby at this point. So you’re signing him with no expectations that he has to start.

And you could draft somebody.

HELL YES you do it in a heartbeat if you can get Verrett on a cheap-ish 1 year prove it deal. What do you have to lose? He was REALLY GOOD back in 2015 or 2016, or however long ago it was. If he's even 80% of what he flashed his first few years he's better than any corner currently on our roster (Ward's sample-size being too small). He's small, but he was ridiculously talented when he was healthy. I don't care about his shoulder, after a year, those are fine. ACL, not a big deal anymore. Achilles? DJ played pretty well after his first one. I don't want EXPENSIVE broke-dicks, but if we can take a cheap flyer on a once-stud broke-dick, sign him up. He might not make it out of camp before getting hurt, but if he does, we might have something. As a Chiefs fan, I was not looking forward to having to play against this guy for the next 10 years with the Chargers. Luckily it didn't turn out to be a problem.

I was merely defending an all-pro safety against rabid hounds like you, What the organisation chose to do is neither here nor there with me. We'll see if the hounds get the defense they are wishing for now Eric has gone.

Huge difference in outlooks between the 2 teams. Ramsey is a lot more likely to move because the Jags aren’t winning the super bowl. With all that said, I don’t think Ramsey will be coming here.

They just signed Foles, so I doubt they see their window as being shut. Right or wrong.

Iirc Glaser had the jags getting tired of him thru the year and may be willing to move him

I kind of remember Gilmore trolling him about being a zone CB. He proceeded to play man on plays that called for zone and you can imagine how well that turned out.

Their plan to shore up the defense is to find a lot of short term veterans who can hold the fort until they draft a replacement. I doubt the front office has any delusion that any of these guys are long term answers. There's a reason almost everyone they've brought in recently came in on 2-3 year contracts.

I agree. Until we get a read on what the future contracts are going to look like for a few "key" players, that's the only realistic option available.

I keep thinking about this draft. It appears to be defense-heavy with some quality guys at a ton of positions-of-need.

I still think Veach is liable to try and trade up a time or two with a focus on acquiring 2 (maybe 3) guys who have immediate impact potential. (Rather than bringing in 7 or 8 developmental hopefuls, I mean.)

You do know he was scheduled to come here AFTER his visit with the 49ers, yeah? Hard to drop the ball when free agency started yesterday and we hadn't actually gotten a chance to talk to him, much less sign him.

Anyway, the guy is clearly a piece of shit and I hope he contracts AIDS.

1.4 with incentives up to 3.6 clearly.

That is a steal for the upside alone. He's not wrong.

We’re clearly more invested in trying to sign Darby who has injury concerns but is nowhere near the brokedick that Verrett is.

Iconic 03-14-2019 07:39 PM

lol it's 1.4m dude. there's practically no investment to be made with verrett. that shits a flyer that only has potential to get better if things go right. has no impact on darby

That’s irrelevant. Signing Darby, a guy that isn’t an absolute prayer and a very good corner, is priority #1.

They obviously had contact with his agent before, and DURING his visit with the 49ers...

Also, if you're in the market for a guy dont you think it would be a good idea to be the first to bring him in?

So what? when he does play, he's a pro bowl caliber corner. 3.6m is next to nothing. We signed Tyvon branch for next to nothing as well and got a damn good year out of him. And THEN a compensatory pick.

Best case Scenario for Verrett is to get a good year out of him, he signs somewhere else, and then we get a 3rd round compensatory pick for almost nothing.

Worst case is he gets hurt, and we lost like 2% of out cap space. Boohoo.

Not sure how this is so hard to understand.

Warrick 03-14-2019 10:49 PM

THERE'S MY LITTLE BUTT-PLUG!

Admit it; you spent an entire day gone from CP so that you could privately weep over the loss of your boo. Be a man, admit your shame.

And what's to see? We've already replaced Berry with a player who is 1000X his replacement, who WANTS to be here, who WANTS to lead, and who WANTS to play. Every game.

Winner = Chiefs.
