Bedding. Flat Sheet: Necessary or not?
So I've noticed something on some of my most recent vacation visits. People seem to be foregoing the flat sheet bedding in favor of just a fitted sheet on the bed and the comforter on top. Opinions? Is the flat sheet necessary?
|
The comforter have a washable duvet cover when you’ve run across this?
|
I’m pro flat sheet. Particularly doesn’t seem replaceable for summer when not all of comforter is needed and I also blast the AC in my house.
|
Who sleeps under heavy covers in the summer? A full set of sheets if I feel a chill I pull the flat over me. Thats almost never.
|
How is this even a question?

That being said, both sheets are necessary. When visiting Germany several times on business a few years ago, I didn't care for how the hotel beds were made. A fitted bottom sheet with a comforter plopped in the middle of the bed. It reminded me of how a young bachelor might get by not giving a crap about doing laundry or making the bed. |
Don’t scrimp on my thread counts
|
It's pretty gross that if there is NO flat sheet, everyone is skanking and jizzing and dirtying up the comforter/blanket and you know that isn't washed after every visit.
Flat sheets are a MUST both for hygiene and comfort |

As far as my personal residence I never used to sleep with one. I’d flail around and it would end up kicked down. (My parents kept my house hotter than I can tolerate for sleeping. It sucked. A lot. ) But I must have become more refined in my old age because now I use one every night. |

Never had a comforter that was comfortable. Definitely need a sheet to keep the nipples unchafed.
|
My wife hogs the comforter and I get the flat sheet, so in terms of husband survival, Yes, the flat sheet is necessary.

Don’t most males (alphas at least) only sleep under a sheet in the summer?
Stupid ass thread. |

Mind blowing if people are making beds this way!!! |
Sheets are completely unnecessary, just give me a blanket and we good

In the summertime, you crank down the AC and turn a fan on so you can get under the flat sheet and comforter both, if not an extra blanket. I have a Solaron blanket I use even in the summer because they're so ****ing comfy (and plus I read somewhere that people sleep deeper when they have a weighted blanket on them). https://www.importedblankets.com/kin...ategory_id=281 |

I'm mad I didn't think to post this, lol |
I don't have one on the bed but I keep it by the bed for the nights when it's too uncomfortable to sleep under a blanket.

The hotels I stay at when I travel for business (same ones every time) stopped including a top sheet a few years ago, just a big thick comforter now. I’ve gotten used to it but I’m not a fan, always saw that top sheet as the clean layer between me and the comforter.
Top sheets at home? Of course. After all, we aren’t communists. |

You wonder if any of these hotels/motels know this is going on. I mean think about it if you are the maid service, putting a fitted sheet on then just throwing a comforter on is a lot easier than having to deal also with tucking in a flat sheet as well. Sure it might be to cut costs but something tells me that is not going on here. If the customer complains then the front desk just say's "oh we're sorry the maid service must have forgotten the flat sheet, we'll take care of that shortly". And the complaints are not numerous enough to raise any eyebrows with mgmt.
Unspoken practice to make the maid service easier is my point. |

If I'm staying in somebody's home and the flat sheet is missing, I assume that they used it as a rope to escape. I would run.
Are there also handcuffs bolted to each corner of the guest bed? That's another warning sign. |
I just threw up in my mouth a little bit.
|
I sleep in the nude. So, yeah.
|
I only sleep on truck bed liner. It's a personal preference thing.
|
Cool thread, bro.
|
I had no idea it was called a flat sheet so I'm learning something new here. I just called them the fitted sheet, the sheet, and the comforter.
But yeah. I'm pro-sheet. My girlfriend isn't though.. that ****ing weirdo. |
Hmm. Never given this much thought. Suppose I have no preference. I sleep well with or without them.

Not sure why but the crack about her being a weirdo made me laugh. Side note. This might be the first time ****ing ever I’ve heard of the female in the relationship not being pro sheet but the male is. |
A flat sheet makes a comforter much warmer. A flat sheet in the wintertime is good.
|
|
Yeah, if you wait weeks in between washes.
|
Always end up wadded up at our feet, summer or winter. More of a hassle than it's worth when making the bed. Haven't put one on in years.
|
NO FLAT SHEET? What is this world coming to?

I don't really care either way, but push come to shove I'd go with the flat sheet. Most if the time all the bedding is off keep by morning.
|
No flat sheet. Only a 650 Fill Power Duck Down blanket and nude. Works no matter what the temp is. 80 or 20.
