Sorensen is John McGraw. Change my mind.

Special teams staple that wouldn't be a starter at Safety on most teams.

It's suspicious that he might have blackmail photos on Front office personnel.

Makes one or two big important plays per season, keeping the hype embers smoldering.

Duscus.

TinyEvel 11-22-2019 10:49 AM

Also, DAT is Dexter McCluster.

Wallcrawler 11-22-2019 10:50 AM

Cool.

ToxSocks 11-22-2019 10:51 AM

Sorenson is better than McGraw was.

Also, YOU'RE RACIST!

KCUnited 11-22-2019 10:56 AM

McGraw with more wives

chiefzilla1501 11-22-2019 10:57 AM

Maybe I'm one of the few who didn't have a problem with Mcgraw. We could have done a lot better but also a lot worse. He wasn't meant to be a starter, just quality depth. Sabby piscitelli sand Kendrick Lewis should be a reminder of what bad looks like.

ChiliConCarnage 11-22-2019 10:58 AM

He's actually Tim McGraw. It's pretty impressive really that he can keep up both jobs.

notorious 11-22-2019 11:01 AM

Marcellus 11-22-2019 11:02 AM

Hard worker, lunch pail to work every day kind of player, high football IQ and motor.

Why Not? 11-22-2019 11:02 AM

Don’t get the hate. Find my a defensive player over the past few years that has come up with more big plays in huge games. I’ll wait.

EDIT: Obviously Chiefs games only.

loochy 11-22-2019 11:05 AM

Cmon, maybe Sorenson isn't what we want for a starter, but he's much better than practice squad quality.

chiefzilla1501 11-22-2019 11:07 AM

Also both outstanding special teams players. Mcgraw especially was really really good.

Skyy God 11-22-2019 11:08 AM

My only real complaint is he’s overpaid for a 3rd safety.

That was a typo. I meant SPECIAL TEAMS. I changed the OP. Thanks.

Also, I don't hate the guy, just was thinking he has a lot of similarities. Mainly, a lot of CP grumbles week after week then he makes a clutch play a couple times a year.

Rain Man 11-22-2019 11:24 AM

I don't remember enough about McGraw to draw a comparison, but I'm a Sorensen fan. He's not an all-pro, but he earns his spot on the team and as mentioned earlier, he's made some very important plays for us over the years.

Yeah, they ARE similar. I think Sorenson is a bit better, but yeah, both are backups that find themselves as starters. Don't hate the player for that, hate the coaches and GM.

Just remember that Sorenson was pretty much the only defender that came to play with fire in the AFCCG.

Demonpenz 11-22-2019 11:27 AM

Travis Kelce is Jared Allen on offense

ToxSocks 11-22-2019 11:33 AM

People just undervalue Sorenson because he's white.

It's assumed that white people lack athleticism so they scoff at white corners, safeties, running backs, wr's etc unless they're undeniably gifted like a McCaffrey.

Sorenson, as a 3rd safety and a role player, is a solid player.

ToxSocks 11-22-2019 11:34 AM

Sorenson has made more plays for this team than Kendall Fuller ever has yet people won't stop jockin' Fuller for whatever reason.

Sorenson is the only player it seems like on the defensive side of the ball where it’s prime time or big games he always shows up. I’m proud to have Dirty Dan on this team

TLO 11-22-2019 11:41 AM

Sorenson isn't a great player, and has a lot of weaknesses - but he also has a knack for making game changing plays.

(See INT vs the v Chargers as the latest example)

He was the only player who showed up on the defensive side of the ball for the AFCCG. I argue if he wasn’t on the team we would’ve been down more points

oldman 11-22-2019 12:10 PM

I'll agree he's overpaid, but the guy just just seems to always be around the ball. He's a good ST player and isn't afraid to tackle or take on a block, something that many of our "stars" seem to have an aversion to. He saved the game in Mexico City and that's not the 1st time he's made a game changing play.

I've really come around on Sorensen. He's not somebody I'd want as a starter but if your starter gets hurt it's good to have Sorensen as a backup. As others have pointed out he seems to step up when it matters. Good quality backups are hard to find.

I don’t think so. People gave John Lynch all sorts of credit. Hell, Edelman gets all sorts of love.

People tend to diss Sorensen because he gets beat.

Lol nobody is saying that Sorenson is as good as any of those guys though and he’s not supposed to be. He’s a #3 safety, and a solid one.

He is far faster than McGraw.

He's also a better player, mostly because he's faster.

After the Sanders Cummings, Ron Parkers, Eric Murrays, and Leon McQuays of the world, I'm more than OK with Sorensen as a 3rd safety.

The post that clearly said he was a 3rd safety and a role player?

Wilson8 11-22-2019 02:20 PM

Jon McGraw was a 2nd round draft pick for the Jets. He ran a 4.5 40, 39.5" in vertical, and 10.5' in broad jump.

Daniel Sorensen was a college free agent for Chiefs. He ran a 4.67 40, 32" in vertical, and a 9.5' in broad jump.

Daniel has a lot of "want to" but is limited with his physical abilities.

I like Daniel but the Chiefs need to control how they use him on defense. If KC asks him to cover a fast RB or WR, the results probably won't be pretty for the Chiefs.

I think it was last week, one of the announcers said something like Sorenson gets targeted in the passing game more than anybody in the league.

JohnnyV13 11-22-2019 05:20 PM

Change your mind? How can I do that? That's sort of like telling me to put horseshoes on a unicorn.

Now that’s just mean and completely inaccurate. Slappy Pistachio was a constant disappointment as far as I remember.

I like dirty Dan. He does come up with some game-changing plays a few times per year. He’s stuck around and survived the cuts season after season. How did he get the nickname Dirty Dan?

DaNewGuy 11-23-2019 01:06 PM

I liked that pick 6 against Brees in 2016..in terms of names Jon McGraw is a goddamn slick name

Naptown Chief 11-23-2019 01:18 PM

Dreamy Dan, amirite?

jjchieffan 11-23-2019 04:22 PM

Sorenson gets hate for the same reason that Wilson always got hate around here. They were both very good backups, but not good enough to start. Which is fine, until they get thrust into the starting lineup for extended lengths of time and the weaknesses that kept them from starting got exposed. Particularly Sorenson. I mean, he had to step into Eric Berry's spot. Of course he wasn't going to fill those shoes. But people hate on him just the same.

Hammock Parties 11-23-2019 04:40 PM

i don't remember mcgrawful ever being good in coverage

sorensen is pretty good in his 'vulture' role, he's just not a starting safety and you don't want him on any elite players

he's a nice complementary chess piece, kind of like mark mcmillian

TrebMaxx 11-23-2019 05:42 PM

Sorensen plays a role and does fine as long as he is not asked to do too much. I can't hate on him, he plays tough and heady.

Saw an interesting tweet today about how Sorenson has become our go to guy to cover the rb. Has helped fix a huge weakness from earlier in the season while giving more flexibility to play around with honey Badger.

Dude, did you even watch the bills game? Sorenson was a big liability and singlehandedly gave up at least two TDs. I have always liked Dan but this season he was looking like he was done. I'm glad that the coaches gave him a more limited role. And he's also playing better now.
