Lots of people came dressed as empty seats

So many empty seats at kickoff. 6 or 8 together on the lower level in some places. Large chunks on the upper level too. The whole team is healthy, Raider week, chance to cement first place... Sad!

Matthieuception!

Mama Hip Rockets 12-01-2019 03:34 PM

Yeah. Pretty weak. The crowd that is there sounds loud, though.

BWillie 12-01-2019 03:56 PM

Maybe if you make a rolling roof people would be more jazzed to come. Im not going to a Chiefs game in December. Just like Im not going to a Royals afternoon game in the middle of August. Call me soft...but why be uncomfortable when you have a better seat at home or at a bar?

Rasputin 12-01-2019 03:59 PM

Looks pretty packed to me. I think people were just trying stay out of the weather longer.

They had more time drinking in the parking lot bathrooms are full lol

This!

I bring this up every year, but it’s the lousy December Kc weather that’s the issue. A dome or rolling roof would solve a lot.

Titty Meat 12-01-2019 04:05 PM

It's cold and windy out **** that I'll watch it on my 65' TV

KCUnited 12-01-2019 04:06 PM

Surprised you got a strong enough connection to post this from your seats.

This.

mr. tegu 12-01-2019 04:10 PM

It looks pretty full as it is but this game was flexed so who knows how that affects people planning to go.

Demonpenz 12-01-2019 04:19 PM

spend 300 dollars on one game you can go to, or spend 300 on a 65 4K tv you can enjoy all day long.

I do hate those TVs that only last one day though.

Not sure, but whatever it is, it's too much, because apparently they only last a day.

Oh shit! I got one a couple months ago and used it every day. Do I have to pay for the extra 59 days?

RealSNR 12-01-2019 07:06 PM

The fans who are rabid enough to attend December games probably can't afford the seats. I assume that's the difference between the Chiefs home field in December in the 90s vs. today.

You're soft!

Chiefshrink 12-01-2019 07:40 PM

as time goes on and technology continues to make us softer as a people over time so are many fanbases becoming soft staying home instead of braving the outside elements.

Yeah, there wasn't an empty seat at either playoff game last season... it's not that.

Bearcat 12-01-2019 07:52 PM

I'm not a cold person at all, and would much rather the thermostat be set at 80+..... oddly though, I'd rather deal with an extremely cold game than extreme heat (especially with extreme humidity).

Probably not to watch such a shit team as the Raiders, but there are hand/feet warmers, there's great quality cold gear, hot drinks, heated vests (haven't tried one though), etc. IMO, it can at least be tolerable.

Dunno I flogged some logs for it

gblowfish 12-01-2019 08:04 PM

I didn't get to my seat until about a minute and a half into the game. The crowd was fine. It cleared out in the second half when the game got out of hand, but man, the wind was blowing at 25 to 30 mph and the wind chill had to be low 20's. It was frickin' cold out there. Flexing the game to a 3:20 start didn't help either. I didn't get home until almost 7pm.

DJ's left nut 12-01-2019 08:08 PM

Upper decks were a little less full than usual but I'm betting the wind up there was SAVAGE. Can't imagine it was a comfortable place to be at all.

Wind is as bad as rain or extreme cold out there. There's just no escaping it and it will **** a tailgate right up.

wazu 12-01-2019 08:08 PM

Always nice to see people who weren't at the game complaining about other people not going to the game.

KChiefs1 12-01-2019 08:56 PM

It was cold & windy.

Not only a tailgate, it will beat you down.

Kudos to the fans who endured today

Broke ours. It held up for about 3 hours but failed at around 230. The top rails just couldnt handle that constant pressure and finally snapped. Shoulda parked the other direction and tied off to the pickup to prevent that stress.

Short of freezing rain, nothing is worse than high winds. And even freezing rain isnt as bad during a tailgate as that damn wind.

KS Smitty 12-01-2019 10:22 PM

First game I attended in a few years. It wasn't the temperature as much as it was the wind. Still would again.

If Deberg is condemning I would like to come out in full support of the Chiefs fans involved in this battle. No doubt you were acting in self defense. Unprovoked and pure of heart.
