That was Spiderman 2099! Haven't thought of that spinoff in a while..

Marvel burnout. /s

Pretty sure they hinted at spiderman india too with the Hindi text and music right before 2099 gets to him.

Wow, good catch. Didn't notice that the first time.

I really like Into the Spiderverse. I thought that was very well done. Was expecting to not like the animation aspect, but I actually really enjoyed it. Gave it a real comic feel. Excited for this.

Looks awesome. The first is genuinely one of the best surprises I've ever had from watching a movie. It was basically perfect.

lawrenceRaider 04-04-2023 10:58 AM

Gonna be 1,000,000 times better than anything else Marvel has put out recently.

The Franchise 04-04-2023 05:44 PM

Uh oh…you guys can’t watch this now because it’s “woke”. That sucks.

staylor26 04-04-2023 05:48 PM

Can't ****ing wait. The first one is arguably the best animated movie of all-time.

It was good. It was not Mask of the Phantasm good.

Chitownchiefsfan 04-04-2023 06:32 PM

This looks really good.
I'm intrigued by the idea they seem to be tackling the idea of "can spiderman be spiderman if he isnt born of tragedy."

Like none of the other spider men trust him because he didn't lose an uncle Ben.

I think it was just as good.

Mask of the Phantasm
Under the Red Hood
Crisis on Infinite Earths
Into the Spiderverse

Prob the best animated superhero flicks of all time

I would probably swap out Under the Red Hood for Return of the Joker.

I don't think I've seen Mask of the Phantasm. Will be finding and watching.

ETA: Seeing how old it is, I have likely seen it. Will watch again anyway.

I'm not a big adult cartoon guy, besides like comedy, but holy shit. The first was by far the best animated movie I've ever seen. Such an incredible movie.

I was reading through to see if the normal "this is woke garbage" crowd came here, because a they have a girl spiderman or something else dumb.

Yeah, it’s classic like Batman: The Animated Series style with those same voice actors.

They missed out that in the room where Gwen Stacy is there is a flag that says “Protect Trans Kids”.

I know some in Hollywood would find this shocking, but the overwhelming majority of people don't care about that kind of shit if you actually make a good movie/show.

It's just a matter of it being organic versus forced. When the goal is to make something good, that kind of stuff tends to happen organically. When the goal is to put out "the message", the results are usually shit.

Take the "Protect Trans Kids" poster in the trailer, I'm sure many like myself were aware, and I definitely rolled my eyes when it was pointed out, but nothing from the trailer makes me think that is a message of the movie or that it will be part of the plot.

It also helps that the first movie was so ****ing good. Even if it were something a little more in your face, I'd give them the benefit of the doubt.

Just. Make. Quality. Movies.

I don't throw a 10/10 often, but it was definitely a 10.

staylor26 06-03-2023 05:59 PM

9/10

Not quite the 10/10 masterpiece that the first one way, but still a great movie. Also, the way this one sets up part 3 makes me think it could be the best of the trilogy.

What?

Not close to Disney's or Pixar's best.

Agree to disagree, especially on the "not close" part.

Gonna have to disagree with you on this.

At least as good as anything else from Disney or Pixar.

BigBeauford 06-06-2023 12:59 PM

Also disagreeing. I thought the first Spiderman (ITSV) was terrific. Felt like a "Toy Story" moment in animation and story-telling. The 2nd was still really good, though I'd tab it more of a 8.5/10 rather than a 10/10.

Rams Fan 06-16-2023 09:36 PM

Both the original and sequel of Spider-Verse are as good as any Pixar/Disney movie (as is Mask of the Phantasm and the Iron Giant).

CatfishBob2 06-18-2023 07:26 PM

Took my children to see this earlier today. This trilogy already blows any animated film in the MCU and DCU away and it's not even finished.

ITSV : 9/10
ATSV: 9.5/10

Went today too. To me, it was vastly better than the first. I wasn’t a fan of the first one. Could be partly because I didn’t see that one in the theater. Maybe I need to see it again.

The first two Raimi films are on par with this, IMO.

Spider-Verse as a trilogy will be way better, however, since I think the third movie should be way better than SM3 was. And if it isn't, something terrible happened.

Gravedigger 06-19-2023 08:48 AM

Into the Spiderverse had such emotional highs and lows, just starting off with only knowing Chris Pine's Spiderman for a matter of minutes to seeing him die was shocking enough, but then to come out of that with Miles learning from another dimension's Peter Parker, who in turn needed help, then going to his Uncle's death because he made a decision to protect him and then to throw in the best "Superhero discovers his powers" scene in almost any Superhero movie, the soundtrack of that moment, then the end fight being so vibrant, chaotic, Miles forcing his mentor to go home, then the final showdown with Kingpin and using the shoulder touch to do it, just a masterpiece in Spiderman movies and Animation. I won't sit there and say its the best Animated movie I've ever seen, but it's up there in the echelon of top 5 easily.

For ATSV:

Spoiler!

Rams Fan 06-23-2023 10:56 AM

This is kind of cool. Apparently there's two versions in theaters:

Very minor stuff it appears atleast

Sure-Oz 06-27-2023 02:15 PM

I'm going to go see this again. Absolutely loved every moment. The animation is beautiful. Great end to part 1. Saw the first movie 3x in theaters when I had no hype. Definitely going 1 more time for this.

ThaVirus 11-04-2023 05:17 PM

Yeah, this one was awesome too.

I was surprised how it ended. Didn’t realize it would be a two-parter.

Fun Movie. No idea it was a two partner. Sony should just stick to animated.
