He was one of those dudes who reported without bias, and always made you happy to see him reporting on your team on TV.

That's what I remember most about him.
It was an entertaining and very popular show back in the day. Salisbury's bully like attitude vs Clayton's nerdy like stance. That was the era when ESPN was great. He covered sports in Seattle mostly since he was based there.

Yeah. While he was a great reporter there was always the look of something not right physically.

Sucks. Always enjoyed him. Hopefully he didn't suffer. The last time I saw him he looked rough.

I remember back when him and Sean Salisbury had some kinda ongoing beef on ESPN, all instigated by Salisburys arrogant ass of course

Sent an email to ESPN clowning on Salisbury for his dumb jock bully schtick, and my ESPN feed was screwed for months afterward... RIP John Clayton, you'll always be better than that stooge

Salisbury was such a dick and he rarely knew what he was talking about. Clayton always did and was super prepared.

Sucks man. He was a friend and extremely dedicated to what he does. Years ago I used to link his shows and post them here every Tuesday. RIP Professor.

He had better taste in music than you might think by looking at him. I heard him say once that his favorite band was Parliment/Funkadelic.
