First trailer just released. |
Looks pretty good. Is Adam Warlock the villain for the whole movie I wonder or is he gonna be switched to their side in order to handle the actual villain of the movie?
|
Man, oh man. That's a lot to unpack.
Pretty sure they landed on Counter-Earth. Home of purple guy, the High Evolutionary. He's the one who created Rocket. Gamora is back? Groot went Liver King. Adam ****ing Warlock! Looks pretty crazy. |
WTF was that, a space vagina?
|
Looks like they intend to kill off Rocket
|
Can't wait...final gotg movie
|
Guardians is probably my favorite Marvel movies. Dr. Strange is up there too.

Drax will die for sure, as Batista wants to be done with the role. |
The Christmas special is on Disney+ if anybody hasn’t caught it yet. 40 min and pretty enjoyable
But as for 3. Ugh. ****. I don’t want this to be the end. I’ve rewatched the first 2 probably more than all other non-avengers movies combined |
Is it just me, or is Bautista looking chubby?

I guess I could see a Thor crossover happening like I was hoping for after Endgame |

Opens tonight PBJ

I hope this doesn't suck. Gunn seems to have a good handle on GotG, so I'm optimistic.
And really, Marvel could use a legit hit after the subpar showing (movies mostly, but some shows as well) that was Phase 4. |
Enjoyed it quite a bit.
Spoiler!

No spoilers
Saw it tonight with my kids. We liked it. Not great, not terrible. I’d give it an 80 Rotten Tomatoes. Not up to par with Guardians 1 and 2, a different tone. If you’re a fan worth seeing of course but don’t get too excited. |

I'm not going to harp on it too much since it is faithful to the comics, but really could be done without that talking dog. Or at least what they did with it for most of the movie.

There was a Drax poop joke that I'm sure the writers thought would hit the mark. In our theater, not a single chuckle out of that line, crickets. |
So I gotta know before I go see it...just for my kid's sake.

Definitely worth watching, and I’ll probably see it again. I enjoyed this more than most, if not all, of the Marvel movies after Endgame.

Easily my favorite since Endgame.
James Gunn movies have so much heart. Absolutely loved his version of Suicide Squad, and can't wait for his DC stuff. |
Watch it
|
I thought it was good. Not great. The actual fight scenes were pretty awesome. Loved the twisted sad backstory for Rocket.
Did not like

Loved it!! Would watch again!!!
2 after credit scenes……. |
Great movie! I've watched this and Mario in the last month and both well worth the price. It's amazing what can happen when they don't try to do stupid shit like they did with Star Wars and Halloween. I'll go see the Flash next. I don't have high expectations for it, but I can't pass up Michael Keaton as Batman.
|
We watched it yesterday, and I thought it was excellent. So much better that the recent Marvel releases outside of No Way Home.

Apparently it isn't receiving good reviews? Not sure why, especially considering the dreck the MCU has put out lately by-and-large. |

Sure, there is probably not going to be a lot of joking going on if the world is ending soon, But, its a movie, not real life. The issue I see with MCU is that it takes itself way way too seriously. We want to be entertained. Gunn gets it. Give me more of this and Paul Rudd. |
Guardians is by far my favorite in the MCU, but have twin toddlers so don’t know if I’ll make it to the theaters. Went ahead and spoiled myself. Just need some opinions on one aspect

I completely missed it -

As a few have said I here it’s one of the few bright spots in the MCU since End Game. Definitely worth watching in the theater.
And as always the soundtrack for GotG ****ing rules. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Eh. I actually think Gunn kind of ****ed Gamora up. I get she's past Gamora and all that but even the version from the original GOTG was nowhere near as unpleasant as she started out in this movie.

Looks like I’m in the minority here, I saw this last night and left disappointed. Now that is not to say that it is in any way a bad movie, because it isn’t. But what I absolutely loved about the first two was how much fun they were. This latest installment really is not a fun movie. This was just dark and somber with only a smidge of the elements that made the first two so great. And even one of those aspects, the intertwining of the music into the story, just felt bleak most of the time. I kept waiting for someone to hit play on a thumping rock song for one of the fight scenes and it never happened.
Like I said, it is not a bad movie, the quality of the production and acting is all there. It just wasn’t fun like the first two. And it is that fun element that took much less known comic characters and surprised everyone and catapulted them amongst the most popular and loved in the MCU. But to each their own. |
holy shit, i'm a blubbering mess
that was the ultimate sci-fi dog movie LMAO SHE'S A GOOD DOG LMAO |

That was the best of the Guardians movies to date.
Prob a top5 MCU movie for me. Really enjoyed it, other than No Way Home, its been a while since MCU actually came out with a good movie. |

Went and saw it. Exceeded expectations and i didn't even see the first two movies. I give it a thumbs up :thumb:

It was a decent send-off for the Guardians of the Galaxy as we knew them for this trilogy with several of the key actors being done with this franchise, but it definitely was not what I was expecting going into it.
The funny parts were funny, buy not enough to overcome the darker toned stuff for me. I fall into that strange category of kill all the humans you like, as graphically as you like, but killing/torturing animals, I'm simply not receptive to that shit in any way, and it just isn't my idea of a good time, especially one I'm paying theater prices for. I mean can watch Stallone pin a guy to a wall with a bow and arrow and slowly cut his heart from his chest and be fist pumping and getting the rewind button ready to press, but you kill a dog or something, I'm instantly losing enjoyment for the film. Kinda strange but it is what it is. I share the same opinion that Gamorra was terribly done in this film, as her character wasn't even recognizable in this one. I'm not sure why this was done, especially given that this is likely the last appearance of the character. I'd rather have simply seen Gamorra stay dead after endgame than have such a shit version for this film. Hallway fight was definitely the highlight of the film for me, one of the best character to character action setpieces in the MCU since the original Avengers film. I remember laughing in spots, but the things that stuck with me from the film going home were just all of the parts that just annoyed me or pissed me off in regard to the abuse/torture of animals, especially one of the franchise's most popular characters. Like, we have less comedy and action with this character in favor of telling a torture/abuse story. Like, out of the literal THOUSANDS of story concepts you could come up with, "Let's not have great comedy and action spots with this character, let's monopolize his screen time with taking multiple shits on him and rubbing it in the face of the audience who came here expecting a good time." is the one you settle on? He's a weird ****ing guy anyway so it shouldn't be a surprise I guess, I mean the guy makes a disturbing amount of pedophile "jokes" so I guess I should just be happy he settled on animal abuse rather than intergalactic kiddie sex rings that Starlord & Co have to take down. It could always be worse lol. I doubt I purchase this one, as I can't imagine anyone wanting to sit through that more than once. Just youtube the hallway fight with the Beastie Boys soundtrack, that's about the only thing I think I'd want to see a second time. |

I haven't seen the movie, so I'm not questioning your position on either the visuals or the concepts, but I do have to ask (in context of the films, not anyone's real life positions on any of this stuff): Isn't grasping such cruel treatment of him in his formation stage crucial to understanding his character as a "serious" character rather than just a caricature? |
Is this a 'must-see in the theatre' kind of movie, or can I just wait for it to stream?
|
Honestly, I'd probably try and see it in theaters but that's just because I believe this may be the last worthwhile Marvel project we're going to be seeing for a long time.

Yes that's how I took it. I didn't see the first two movies but it was easy to catch on what was going on and I wanted to know the importance of the Raccoon character and why was he so special well what he endured sure made him special. The movie really tugged at your heart with some humor mixed in and I think that's what they were going for. It worked for me. Can't sugar coat these things if you want to be honest with the audience. |

Wouldn't hurt my feelings at all if they pivoted to the High Evolutionary as the overall big bad for a bit while they wait for the Johnathan Majors situation to resolve.

You had 2 opportunities to straight kill this guy, with a Batman-esque moral high ground excuse for not planting 2 in his skull. I mean honestly, what is Rocket's body count alone on just general henchmen? Then you get a chance to off the guy that did all this horrific shit and you're gonna say nah I'm good on this one. Like honestly where's Deadpool when you need him. If the H.E. then goes on to do Kang/Thanos level of villainy, hard to look at the Guardians as anything but a bunch of dumbasses for not finishing the job. |

Man, I'm liking this movie more and more as I sit and stew on it. If they managed Adam Warlock a bit better I wouldn't argue of folks put it above No Way Home. That movie had the benefit of being more an event and a huge boost of nostalgia along with it. This was more a culmination of self contained characters that each got to finish an incredibly well done character arc.

They are both the only legitimately good MCU movies since Endgame though. |
LMAO Just realized Dutch Van Der Linde was the door guard Mantis had fall in love with Drax
