Chiefs Bengals on 3rd down

The chess match that led to the final Chiefs O/Bengals D play was cool to watch unfold.

The Bengals plan was to blitz on 3rd downs. On the last one, they walked McKinnon up into the C gap there behind OBJ. Did he think he had help inside on that?

McKinnon wasn't open, JJSS and Kelce were though.

Gary Cooper 12-05-2022 01:14 PM

Can't block 3 guys. Pathetic. Meanwhile, their OL was blocking everything the Chiefs sent their way.

O.city 12-05-2022 01:16 PM

Also, if the interception was PI on Chase...how is the defender not turning his head on Kelce not PI?

Burrow had all day to do whatever he wanted. It doesn't help that the one time they did hit him, it was called Roughing. Meanwhile similar hits on Mahomes all day were never flagged. The inconsistent officiating is ridiculous.

It's a different set a rules for Kelce. Don't you watch the games?

It's getting hard to watch. I know we're biased, but ANYONE that watches the games can see any QB we play gets EVRY little ticky tack roughing call DPI call.

We get penalized for ****ing speaking to Matt Ryan, and meanwhile Mahomes can get suplexed by his facemask and stomped on in front of three refs and they wont bat an eye.

If people can't recognize that as an undeniable FACT then they're as blind that the refs pretend to be.

RunKC 12-05-2022 01:22 PM

I’m sure Hardman or Toney playing instead of Justin Watson wouldn’t make a difference

You can tell we're missing that speed guy. It wasn't as bad losing Hill while we still had Hardman, but losing Hardman too has been a blow.

Hopefully Toney can get healthy because Hardman's probably gone.

too dialed in on kelce
juju had a walk in TD

Hey now. The refs are there to promote player heath and safety of the home team. Give the refs a chance to do their jobs.

O.city 12-05-2022 01:27 PM

JJSS was open on the last 3rd down there over the middle

McKinnon wasn't.

O.city 12-05-2022 01:30 PM

I'll also point out on the Kelce throw down the sideline there, it's god damn bullshit there's no flag there when there's one on the Chase INT.

Hammock Parties 12-05-2022 01:30 PM

the chiefs play calling and execution was mostly good - they have all but solved this scheme, averaging 6.5 yards per play this time out

the fumble prevented a win

andy and EB KNEW we had to run more to win against this scheme and they adapted nicely

feel like they can make some minor adjustments and get extra talent back for a rematch and it will be game over

suzzer99 12-05-2022 01:31 PM

Why are JuJu and Kelce in the same spot on the field on that last 3rd down?

****ing OBJ man. Way to shit the bed on the biggest play of the game.

ThaVirus 12-05-2022 01:36 PM

Yep, just as I thought. There were a couple guys sitting on McKinnon.

He may have been able to get the 1st, or get close to it, but it’s far from a foregone conclusion.

Did you miss the literal immediate pressure up the C gap?

Brown Jr getting beat ****ed that play up from the start.

If he gets beat to the outside there, which he normally does, that play most likely does to Juju for a big gain.

If OBJ even half-assed executes his job Mahomes picks that up easily.
What a POS. The tackles are killing this team.

Just saw that as well. And seeing it live, seemed like Mahomes had all kinds of room if he flushed out left immediately, but who knows with a few guys hanging out over there.

Right! OBJ killed that play the moment it started. Worst possible time to have your worst play.

I still think the last 3rd and 3 should have been a run! That was 4 down territory and I feel like we get that first if we run two times. We probably get it on the first attempt with them only rushing 3.

You don't think he can get 3 yards with the nearest defender being 10 yards away from him?

Absolutely. Run it and plan to go for it on 4th down if you don't get it.

I don't know. I'm mostly arguing that it was far from some foregone conclusion that Pat missed him for the easy 1st like everyone's been saying.

NFL defenders are fast. The second Pat's arm start ripping, they're closing that gap.

Plus, the pass rush just completely ****ed this play from the start. This is the absolute earliest point at which Mahomes could get the ball to McKinnon. I'm thinking there's a really good chance they rally to make the tackle short of the sticks.

Kelce is his first read, and he's open for the 1st down. No reason to progress to JJSS, just unfortunate to get batted.

I'm with you on this one, they're very obviously sitting on that. McKinnon likely has to break a tackle to get the first.

1. Because Thornhill picked it, had no INT occured there'd have been no flag thats why it came in a good 3 seconds late.

2. Kelce rarely if ever gets calls, he made that jerkoff motion at Cheffers, threw a towel and got ejected, then shit talked the refs after the Pittsburgh playoff game. He's on the refs shit list.

I felt like there should've been no flags on both of those plays.
