I think a class action lawsuit is in order

I pay around $250 a month for DTV, I pay $300 for the NFL package and have been with them for 30 years.

This year I've been unable to watch ANY NFL game on the local FOX because DTV and my local station could not come to an agreement. Those games are blacked out on the package .

So tonight I call them and raise hell and the only alternative is to watch chanell 465 in Spanish if I subscribe. 4.95 a month

I promply tell them if that's my only alternative I'm canceling my DTV subscription unless it's free.

So , since the SB is on FOX i'll now be watching the ****ing game in Spanish.

I think a class action lawsuit is in order.

Get a $10 antenna and be 40 seconds ahead of everybody.

Hog's Gone Fishin 01-22-2023 06:50 PM

It's going to Youtube TV anyway. Does that start next year or in 2030

You could get an ota antenna. We stream everything, so I put one in to get local stations

Yeah, Spanish translator ?

did you see my question for you in the Stock challenge thread ?

HemiEd 01-22-2023 07:29 PM

Haven't had the problem with Fox yet, but CBS dropped Dish right before the playoffs began, AGAIN.

Neighbor said CBS has been off his DTV most of this last year.

I have two antennas in the attic and just ordered a third one, as we are so far from any of the stations, a dedicated one for each network seems to be the answer.

Watched the Bengals/Bills game today on antenna, awesome picture. We also have the Firetv DVR for recording antenna programs.

Maybe it is better now but the thursday night streaming broadcast of the Chiefs game early in the season did not impress me.

I would love to cut out the Dish, but there is no other option for a few of the channels.

displacedinMN 01-22-2023 07:34 PM

I most likely will be done with DTV by the time football rolls around next season.

Biggest concern is will my internet + streaming hit my comcast data limit.

But for 30 a month more-you can get unlimited internet.

**** this world.

Yes, there has to be a class action suit out there somewhere

Isnt it amazing with all the technology today-we have to default to Antennas.

Even though in live in town-I wish I still had the big one from the old house.

Sold it for 10 on Craigslist becuase the new owners didnt want it.

Hell, I get 63 channels with mine. Granted, I rarely use it, but it's good for local stations and if the internet goes out during storms

I ditched cable TV and bought a little indoor antenna for $17 or so. It's great. I get a bunch of channels, including the major networks.

I kind of miss NFL Network and HGTV (My Lottery Dream Home), but I'll gladly give them up to save $150+ per month.

It depends on how their transmitter is done. Some stations picked one kind over another and now have to switch. go the thier website and find out.

I have had issues getting some stations on older tv's too. my 9 year old cant get what the new ones do.

This would be frustrating however...

Watching games called in Spanish is pretty fun.

Well , I watched the 49ers, Cowboys tonight in Spanish and it was OK. I mean the commentary is worthless anyway.

scho63 01-22-2023 10:26 PM

You can run a 1,200 mile cable to my house and I'll plug it into the back of my cable box so you can have free cable.

If you have a smart tv just get a free subscription to a streaming service

lcarus 01-22-2023 10:51 PM

Go grab an HD antenna for 20 dollars. You get a bunch of channels over the air that I didn't even really know about until I got mine. And the picture is really good.

ShortRoundChief 01-22-2023 11:26 PM

I think Hog needs to get either a Rosetta stone or a VPN.

A Salt Weapon 01-22-2023 11:47 PM

I don’t know if this relates, but we spend $5/month for basic tv here. Maybe 12-15 channels. There has been 4 Chiefs games not available this year, (usually if they conflict with Seahawks schedules) those 4 3 of them I watched for free in that stream east link people have posted before.

So there’s other options.

Does your town only have one beer distributor?

I effectively only have one broadband provider...

Legally, DTV has a monopoly on Sunday Ticket at the moment which will be bestowed to a new monopoly.

So yea, I'm in favor of getting the pitchforks out. Corporations do not have any natural born rights that can't be taken away by citizens representatives...

YouTube is not immune to fights over licenseing fees for local broadcast of things like Fox and CBS, which is separate from ST.

I may do that after we make a decision on DTV. Biggest issue is mounting.
If they come and take the dish and leave the post, I can mount it there. But it is on the west side of the house and the transmitters are to the ENE. They are only about 10 mi max away. Should not need anything big here.

The guy across the street has an exterior antenna. That is better than climbing in the attic and running a cord through the tube to the basement.

OK-I worked at radio shack..

oldman 01-23-2023 10:33 AM

DTV, Dish, and every other cable company are the same, they're all going to have contract disputes with TV companies. The local stations here in KC are owned by large media companies. KMBC is owned by Hearst, KCTV is owned by Gray, KSHB is a Scripps station, and WDAF is Nexstar.

If you are within 75 miles of the over the air station, a $30 amped indoor antenna will let you get the games for free.

You have way more patience than I do in giving those dicks hard earned money. Especially money that was earned the hard way.

But yeah, I'd go the digital antenna route.

scho63 01-23-2023 12:45 PM

Maybe I'll send him an AOL disk so he can do a dial up.

Might be just a little buffering issues........
