What do you generally listen to at work?

In recognition of the offseason.

In58men 02-27-2023 12:32 PM

Barry’s Kool-Aid

Mecca 02-27-2023 12:33 PM

penguinz 02-27-2023 12:34 PM

I listen/watch bushcraft and lifting videos while working.

WhawhaWhat 02-27-2023 12:35 PM

Podcasts if I'm not super busy. If I'm really busy then just music. I have some playlists put together on Apple Music that work well for me.

Back when I used to work construction sites with lots of different trades on them I would get there early because first person there got the radio. Was mostly guys wanting to listen to classic rock. But they hated techno music more than anything. So you better believe your ass that’s what I would put on all day. Drove them crazy! Loved watching them cry all day. Now I’m the only one who brings a speaker so they’re all at my mercy. But now I only play reggae, dancehall, Soca, and AfroBeats. And the guys I work with seem to like it for the most part.

Hoover 02-27-2023 12:45 PM

I've turned into that old guy who does things nobody else would do.

So I like the Dan Patrick show, so I listen to its on my computer to start the day, then witch over to YouTube for various mixes depending on mood.

I should probably just get Spotify, but I just play Youtube in the background.

Jenson71 02-27-2023 12:46 PM

I've been a pretty dedicated free-Pandora user for over a decade. It's helped me discover some great music. One recent example is Marc Cary and his composition "Taiwa" from the album Focus.

Dan Patrick literally talks about basketball for to long.

Third Eye 02-27-2023 12:52 PM

My listening habits are somewhat seasonal. If it is football season or in the runup to the season, I'm probably listening to sports talk or maybe one of the couple of NFL podcasts I listen to. I don't care about baseball or basketball, so the rest of the year I'm listening to Apple Music.

Picturing a bunch of old construction guys be forced to listen to the Mortal Kombat techo theme on loop is great.

Spott 02-27-2023 01:01 PM

Lots of Slayer.

Buehler445 02-27-2023 01:13 PM

In the tractor it is podcasts and audiobooks. I've listened to quite a few books there is no chance in hell I'd ever read, so other than a few podcasts I really enjoy it is mostly audiobooks.

In the office, I usually throw something on YouTube minimized. Sometimes that is music because I have a lot harder time staying awake in the office.

KurtCobain 02-27-2023 01:15 PM

I used to enjoy listening to Fox Sports Radio overnight shows(Jason Smith and Ben Maller) everynight, and now that I'm not up during those hours, I try to listen to the podcasts for the previous night if I can while working.

Everyone but the boss

ToxSocks 02-27-2023 01:21 PM

Depends what i'm doing.

PHYSICALLY working? Usually some form of rock.

Sitting at my desk doing paper pusher shit like i am right now? Podcasts. Usually paranormal or serial killer podcasts. Thought lately ive been listening to business/entre type podcasts about making money, marketing etc.

If i'm doing creative work i.e web design, photoshop, advertising etc i usually put on Retro Synth wave.

Myself moaning when I wipe my ass

RunKC 02-27-2023 01:23 PM

Chiefs pods
Sirius XM
Sometimes financial shit
Sometimes conspiracy theory stuff (JFK, aliens etc)
Huberman

Joe Rogan is obviously the best. When he’s got someone cool on like Neil deGrasse Tyson it’s a must listen.

I can't believe I am going to say this, I miss working in the office.

George Liquor 02-27-2023 01:31 PM

Depends what time it is tbh

Fleccas is about the only podcast I tune into regularly. I have YouTube Music but I feel like 30% of the time I'm watching a buffering wheel spin.

loochy 02-27-2023 01:33 PM

podcasts or youtube channels that interest me

Rausch 02-27-2023 01:37 PM

Podcasts - like most normal humans. Why this wasn't on the list stupid-fies me.

Usually paranormal or educational podcasts (Theories of Everything, The Confessionals, Sasquatch Chronicles, etc.) I want my mind on something else that creates no stress or anger but might actually cause an original thought of my own every now and again. A little tickle to the imagination...

Edit: It was on the list. Just not broken down like the other mediums.

Dunerdr 02-27-2023 01:40 PM

Times ours, KCSN, NFL stock exchange, the draft dudes, RGR a little (Frankly pretty burnt out on them right now), 4th and 1 with Nick Jacobs, Brohio Podcast, Expanded perspectives, The Pat Mcafee show 2.0 and the occasional audio book or pandora.

Recently I've realized that if i have a podcast on I am more effecient. I assume I have some brand of ADD or something and when i dont have anything on i bounce from task to task never completing shit. Dishes-trash-back to dishes-did i start the laundry?- **** i didnt put a trash bag back in- damn i need to put the tool bag in my truck for tommorow.. It never ends.

Dartgod 02-27-2023 01:41 PM

I'm working from home most of the time so I either have some familiar TV show or movie streaming on Youtube TV or just streaming music from a variety of sources.

I tried to listen to a few podcasts geared toward my industry (there are some highly acclaimed ones out there), but I can't do it at work because I lose all focus on the work.

I can't really concentrate with anything on that has words. I usually work in silence, but if I'm really cranking away I'll put on a "focus" mix from YouTube Music, which is a bunch of kind of weird, ambient, instrumental music.

I had that on when I was reviewing a legal document last night.

You don’t need to get there early to plant a couple nail gun projectiles through the radio. “Accidentally” of course.

htismaqe 02-27-2023 04:23 PM

I have ripped all of my original music to my computer and stream from there.

That would work but surveyors don't carry nailguns. I' m sure one of the workers would gladly lend me one. My 28oz Estwing would be capable of severe damage to its ability to make our ears bleed though.

A good travel podcast, audiobooks and some sports talk during football season. Joe Rogan when he has an interesting guest on but he too often steers any conversation toward MMA and I can’t stand it when he goes off on his vaccine tangents. It’s like dude everybody knows your stance and we’re sick of hearing about it.

I finally went Spotify a couple years ago. I had a huge mp3 collection from college and kept it around for 20 years... plugged in an iPod via aux jack in one car, would create ~150 song mp3 CDs, downloaded them to a hard drive of another car, had many on my phone. They've been through some shit.

kc rush 02-27-2023 05:46 PM

Pandora or Amazon music primarily.

Sports radio leading up to or coming out of a major sporting event.

I buy everything on CD, rip them to my computer (which is sync'd with my phone), and then put them away to collect dust.

lcarus 02-27-2023 06:28 PM

I got some nice wireless Bose earbuds as a gift and I never know what to listen to at work. I don't really listen to music as often as I used to. And there are so many podcasts now.

Trust, I had one at home just waiting for the company radio to get smashed. Anyone could have got there early, I was the only one willing to put in the time to arrive 30 minutes early to piss off 95% of the other guys. That’s dedication, my friend!! Some days I’d let the same CD play over 3 or 4 times before changing it to a different techno cd. Good times on the construction site!! I’m pretty positive there were many happy workers when I moved on to another job.
