Do You Ever Wake Up With a Song In Your Head?
I do, basically every day... its the weirdest thing, and its been that way for years
The alarm goes off and suddenly I've got some random song in my head, making me sing along to it in the shower... usually its something I've heard in the last couple days, but other times its SO random Woke up to this today, heard it three days ago at work <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/Qr0hcoksupQ" title="YouTube video player" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share" allowfullscreen></iframe> |
I wake up to the same voice in my head every morning. Should I get checked?

Ha, yep.
Jet, I can almost remember their funny faces. |

Music is what keeps me from getting good sleep most of the time. I constantly have music playing inside my skull. Makes it very hard to get to sleep, very hard to stay asleep. It’s NEVER something slow that I can get to/back to sleep either. Usually Soca, or dancehall which is pretty upbeat. Been struggling with it for at least a decade. Sometimes I’ll be on the verge of passing out, and then BOOM! High energy music banging against the walls of my eardrums. It’s even worse since my hospitalization, can’t drink or smoke the herbs right now, so I can only take a gummy and that doesn’t really help as much as all 3 together do.
Last nights song (which tends to be a favorite of my brain) <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/87QDfBzgak8" title="YouTube video player" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share" allowfullscreen></iframe> Good luck getting to sleep with this playing in your head! |

God yes. And it can be ANYTHING I've ever heard, including some shit I haven't heard/thought of in years, and sometimes something I absolutely despise.
I don't know why my brain hates me. :cuss: |

Today it was yellow submarine by the Beatles.
Yesterday it was baba O’Reilly by the who. |
I heard this song once, I don't know where, woke up with it in my head one day and had a hard time trying to find out what it's called, was trying to google the lyrics I could remember but I was getting something else and finally found it one day. It was driving me nuts for a little bit

Nope, I wake up virtually every morning deciding whether I can putt off getting up to piss or not until I finally decide I have to do it.
No songs. |

Never. I’m jealous.
Would you say you’re a good or bad sleeper? How long has this been a thing for? |
****ing Keith Partridge, get out of my head.

I mean yeah sometimes during stressful times its hard to shut down, but its never pounding music keeping me up... just general worries or whatever, sounds like you need to be talking to your docs about all this since you're already seeing them all the time |

Basically a bunch of different things on there to help with sleeping, stress, etc. Everything from sounds (white noise/Brown noise/etc.) to 'hypnosis' files, audio stories, and so on. I have pretty bad insomnia and trouble staying asleep. Been having trouble with it since i was in my teens. Typically I wake up several times a night and then lay there pissed off for hours before nodding off again. I listen mainly to the rain/campfire/breeze files; helps me get to sleep and stay asleep. I just click play and set the phone on the charger (app uses some juice), and that's it. Since I've been using Breethe, I've been falling asleep easier, and definitely not waking up 4+ times a night anymore. Been a kind of minor miracle for me. It's free (pretty sure they all are), maybe it'd be worth trying out. |

Everyday it's the same. Billy Idol's Cyber Punk album. Every song. Every day.

The really weird one is to have some random song from childhood pop into your brain and suddenly sing the words and realize they form a complete sentence that actually makes some sort of grammatical sense...

The music thing is only waking up, I dunno its maybe some kinda subconscious way of hyping myself up in some strange way to help face the day This one popped up outta NOWHERE a few days ago, and it kinda helped me get ready for the day as I sang it in the shower lol... not a burden, just a wha? <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/vBfFDTPPlaM" title="YouTube video player" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share" allowfullscreen></iframe> |
Yes, and it’s usually incredibly random and generally lasts all day, if not several days.
I assume it’s because I have kids and take care of other people’s maladjusted kids at work (AKA Gen Z’ers) and am constantly annoyed so my mind pays music to soothe me. |

Right now, for some reason, I am hooked on the Last of the Mohicans soundtrack for some reason. It's very epic, just like the Chiefs winning the Super Bowl.

About twenty five years ago, I use to work for/with another artist, and we would listen to the Dance with Wolves soundtrack traveling through Texas while looking at rolling hills covered in Blue Bonnets. As to the Op, No, white noise. |
There are certain artists I won't listen to as the song will play in my head for days. I learn to simply refuse to listen to them to prevent it from happening again.

I heard this song earlier today and now i can't get it out. :banghead:
Spoiler!
|
I get up every morning and sing a random song in the shower. I have no idea what song it's going to be. There are a few patterns of songs that I know well, but it's often a song that I haven't heard in a while and it just rises to the top of the subconscious list. I assumed that I was the ony one who pulled up random songs.
|
I always wake up with a song playing in my head. If it's a song that I don't particularly like I have to manually replace it with a favorite of mine to get it out of my head. Radio and advertising are very powerful outlets that program our minds with catchy tunes that inspire us to buy their products. I can still sing jingles from cigarette commercials that haven't been aired for more than 50 years and I don't even smoke. It comes from watching those commercials when I was a kid and my brain has locked them into my memory banks.

Usually when I watch a nostalgic movie Bryan Adam's Everything I do I do it for you is one

This thread is a psychological minefield.

I love to sing but I have a very unapproving audience in my household. My daughter will shut the door to her room or put on her noise-canceling headphones. LMAO
I have a habit of singing a song in my head and makeup weird lyric's to go along with it instead of regular. |

Yeah, it makes no sense what I wake up to. It's been everything from the Grease soundtrack (what the actual ****) to songs from Sesame Street albums I listened to when I was a kid...in the 70's...
Oddly, this is what I woke up to this morning though: <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/cknrDF8n3Fs" title="YouTube video player" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share" allowfullscreen></iframe> |

Yes. I woke up Thursday to Elvis Costello's Peace, Love and Understanding. My own mind hates me.
|
Yes, everyday, and the weirdest part is its songs like "Dancing Queen" and "The Balled of the Green Berets".
I woke up with the oh, oh, it's magic song today and was actually relieved. Glad I'm not the only one. Too many radio waves going through the air. Going to transform the bedroom into faraday cage. |

More importantly, do you Wake Up with a Song in Your Heart?
Yeah, me neither. It's odd. Not necessarily right when i wake up, but I will have song fragments in my head that kind of loop all day long. For instance today, I have about 3 measures of Gershwin's American in Paris repeating. It's a transitional musical phrase between two differing themes of the song. Tomorrow it will be some other song, but usually only a couple chord progressions. |
