The Broncos want a new stadium and it might be a dome

Their new ownership sent a survey to season ticket holders asking what they want and many options included a dome. The ownership likely would want a dome to make a bid for a Super Bowl.

I love domes. But I must be the only one. It truly baffles me why people prefer to sit outside in 2 degree temps vs at an indoor venue. No dome in GB and Buffalo. Insane to me.

I'm not sure I've ever seen a game in a dome. Is it impolite to wear a hat indoors in a dome?

Why would you choose to be uncomfortable? I remember I watched a baseball game when I was a kid at the Twins Metrodome or whatever it was. It was fantastic. No sun in my eyes. No 90 degrees and humid. 70 and no wind. It was a dream.

I assure you there are others like me. I would go to 10x as many Chiefs and Royals games if it was in a dome. Im not going to a day Royals game in August and I'm not going to a December Chiefs game. Life is too short.

Years ago I saw a Missouri/Illinois game at the dome in St. Louis. It was pretty shitty. As was the game. It was one of those games that was so bad I didn't even care that Missouri won in the end.

Having done it several times, I'm kind of torn. On the one hand, if it truly gives your team an advantage, I'm in favor of it. I also don't really want Arrowhead to be domed or replaced. On the other hand, it does suck. At the Pats/Chiefs AFC Championship Game, between tailgating and the game itself I froze my ass off for half a day, even though I was bundled up like an arctic mummy. I'm getting too old for that shit. Would have been worth it had we won, but we didn't (you too can die in a fire, Dee Ford).

It really seems like modern conditioning and equipment have negated the cold weather thing anyway, much like the altitude doesn't seem to phase players in Denver like it once did. And in any event, cold weather doesn't count for dick if you're playing New England or Buffalo.

Those December games are critical ones. The weather has a way of separating the die hard fans from the fair weather soft betas like you. It’s all the more reason to never invest in a dome. Keep the actual fans coming to the games that matter the most and leave the soft ass BWillie’s of the world at home where they belong.

They want the new stadium so that they can let John Elway graze the grass at Mile High all year round.

Katipan 03-24-2023 01:40 AM

Taylor Swift tickets are going for $4000 for field level. It would have to be retractable.

TimeForWasp 03-24-2023 03:22 AM

Their new stadium will remind everyone of a huge mega Walmart with hundreds of coin operated ponies leftover from all the closed down Kmarts of the Elway era.

With smelly vision tvs you will get the illusion of a big stinky barn from all the horse faced mechanical bronco’s at every level of the almost already obsolete new stadium.

I do not live in Denver, but I am 100% opposed to a new stadium and anything related to a dome. Just enhance the stadium they have that is barely a quarter century old.

kcclone 03-24-2023 07:04 AM

There’s no way the fans will chip in to replace a 22 year old stadium. Walmart will have to build it themselves.

Seems insane to me that that they would want a new stadium that soon. I’ve never been there, but I’m sure it’s still in great shape if Arrowhead is still nice after 50 years.

It's not about how nice or what shape the stadium is in it's about creating more space for more money and different types of seats. It's about hosting a Super Bowl

Flying into town isn't ideal for shitty weather either... I kept coveralls and other cold weather gear at my dad's in KC specifically for Chiefs playoff games, or else it would take an extra bag just to travel with all of it.

I personally don't think a dome would fix a major issue for football in KC though... yeah, there's maybe a game in September when it's 90⁰ and maybe a couple in Dec/Jan that are under 20⁰, but I've been to plenty of late season games that were 30-40⁰ and perfectly fine. The truly brutal games are few and far between.

Baseball might be a different story, but of course they do a lot of night games in the summer anyway. The domes in Phoenix are nice, but it was also 105⁰ outside when the Chiefs played there in September.

Even the Light Rail station is about a mile walk from the stadium. I take the Bronco bus when I go to games and it's basically a bus that goes from outskirt park and ride directly to the stadium. When the game is over you get on the bus for your park and ride and get to your car and drive home that way. It also gives you a little more time to sober up if you need that kind of thing

To be fair, that dome was abysmal. The one in Vegas was amazing. Those are the only two domed stadiums I've been in.

Garcia Bronco 03-24-2023 07:38 AM

If you do go to a Broncos game and you're sitting in section 500 you want to be on the east side of the stadium because it stays in the Sun the longest. Which means you'll stay warmer longer

I despise the travel part of going to games to begin with. It's hard for me to get excited when you have to deal with hours of traffic and miles of walking to watch a game that can be viewed in my living room.

Almost every new stadium should have a Retractable roof unless it's in Socal or something. Best of both worlds. During the nice parts of the year ir can be open and during the shitty snow or miserable summer days ir can be closed. If Arrowhead had one we would have a Super Bowl already.

That's the same setup as Giants games (I went to see our Chiefs there pre-Jesus). Very handy not having to drive, though it kills the tailgate experience.
